Did Former President Obama Weigh In On 2020 Democratic Candidates?

Why, yes, I think he did: sexism, ageism, and identity politics in one fell swoop::

…Obama declared at the private event, “Now women, I just want you to know; you are not perfect, but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you’re better than us.”

“I’m absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything… living standards and outcomes,” he expressed, adding, “If you look at the world and look at the problems it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.”

“It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life,” he continued. “You are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self importance or your own power.”

Obama giving a speech about how women should rule because men drool is a bit rich given that he sure didn’t step aside in 2008 so that a female candidate he insultingly dismissed as “likable enough,” could become the first female Democratic presidential nominee. But if you consider that his recent comments also included taking a shot across the bow of Joe Biden (77 years old) and Bernie Sanders (78 years old), it all makes sense. Elizabeth Warren, grinning like the Cheshire cat this morning…

  1. Good morning.

  2. Obama pulls up the ladder on the all the male Candidates. Booker must be going, “What about me bro?”
Warren, IMO, is the best candidate – so i can understand why O did this. Of course, this may be clearing a path for Michelle, or dare we say it….Hillary.

  3. Old dudes like Obama, Bush, and McCain LOVE to get to the top, and THEN jabber how we need diversity and guys suck, and we need more women. I’m still looking for ONE man, who voluntarily gave up a powerful position or $$$, so a female could have it.

Typical Obama piffle, the sort that I think none of us miss. Do you think he has ever been informed of the study which suggests that European queens were more likely to lead their countries into war than European kings?

Former Massachusetts governor Paul Cellucci resigned to become the Bush Administration’s Ambassador to Canada, partly so that his lieutenant governor, Jane Swift, could take his place and become the first female Republican governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. But he’s the only one I can think of off-hand.

  6. 4. Thing is– he’s right.

  7. He did forget to mention anything about shared childhood and teenage experiences in islands of Southeast Asia and on Oahu…damn, JVW, damn (but to be honest, it would probably be a kiss of death).

Can you cite anything other than conventional feminist theory for this assertion?

  9. To #3, even in the sports franchise realm it has either been death or dementia and that is more in line with monarchy (husbands to wifes, scheming and unscheming, fathers to daughters).

  10. Obama is just participating in the usual virtue-signaling circle jerk.

He won’t do it, but wants others to do it.

  11. Tulsi gabbard 2020 or AOC 2024.

  12. I’m absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything…

Indira Gandhi would be a counter-example.

Aung San Suu Kyi isn’t so great either:

But then, she doesn’t have any real power.

And Obama doesn’t say peace, or justice, or anti-corruption but… living standards?

Corruption, by the way, is a good things when you have a totalitarian government. There wasn;’t much corruption in Stalin’s Russia, and that wasn’t good.

Tell that to Xi Jinping. r Kim Jong Un. Or Vladimir Putin for that matter. Nicolas Maduro. Ayatollah Khameini. I could go on and on.

Does Obama recognize that not all countries are democracies, or even genuine republics?

Now Mexico for many years was a virtual dictatorship, but with term limits. After Nexican residents left office, they could console themselves with getting rich.

  14. “If you look at the world and look at the problems it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.”

When he followed that up by noting men’s lower life expectancy, he got wild cheers and a standing O.

    Munroe (dd6b64)

  15. Then greta thunberg wouldn’t have to shoot all of the world leaders.

  16. To me it reads like a shot at our current President, and a jibe that “Hillary should have won”.

    Especially that last line
“You are not there in order to prop up your own sense of self importance or your own power.”

Although that also shows how unaware of himself Obama is.

    kishnevi (496414)

  17. The poor guy. The Matriarchy got its claws in him before he was born. He’ll never shake loose.

I do agree with him about old people. I think people should get their voters registration card the day they start paying into Social Security and they should have it taken away the day they start receiving Social Security.

  18. Rush Limbaugh has bought intothe notion that this means that Barack Obama wants to make his wife, Michelle, the nominee.

He’s not Bill Clinton! Or even term limited George Wallace in 1966

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  19. M. Obama would do as well as Priscilla Ryan (widow of Wm Fitz Ryan) v. Bella Abzug…the lany/assets of the political
landscape would push Gabbard present vote be darned.
