Rancor in the Donkey Stable: He’s a Racist, She’s a Racist, Everyone’s a Racist!

Dana took us through the imbroglio which is brewing between our Aunt Nancy and our beloved dizzy little Marxist niece and her clique of mean girls. It’s getting to be so that the teacher can’t even turn her back on the class for one moment without the freshmen red ladies texting among themselves, posting catty remarks to Instagram, and giving the juniors and seniors dirty looks. So in light of nuestro sobrina loca letting loose with her thinly-veiled accusation of racism against her leader, it turns out that a couple of weeks ago her unctuous and insufferable chief of staff apparently issued and then deleted the following tweet:

Kind of a bold move for a freshman member’s chief of staff to attack by name a sitting Congresswoman from his boss’s own party. Yeah this is an Indian-versus-Indian spat, but Saikat Chakrabarti is a lower sort of Indian (Bengali) on the intersectionality rankings than is Kansas Representative Sharice Davids (Ho-Chunk Winnebago), and he’s a male whereas she is not only female, but a lesbian too. He kind of walked right into a buzzsaw with that one, and in what I think ought to qualify as a bold move, he received a pretty severe smack-down from the official House Democrats Twitter account earlier this evening. I’ll attach it as a picture file under the assumption that it could soon be deleted, but the link above takes you to it.

House Dems

You know the social media coordinator for the House Democrats is serious because she (maybe he) did the whole clap-after-every-word-for-emphasis thing that is just so edgy. Not sure why it took two weeks for them to respond to the provocation, except for maybe the idea that Mr. Chakrabarti deleted his tweet quickly enough that a screen-shot didn’t surface at the Democrat headquarters until just now.

Man, this party is a lot of fun, isn’t it?

  1. Here’s a fun tidbit: Rep. Davids won her district’s Democrat primary last summer by a narrow margin, despite her main opponent having been endorsed by Bernard Sanders and, yes, our devilishly aggravating yet lovable niece.

  2. It’s … I don’t know … is cute the word? They don’t understand identity politics.

  3. This is just nutty. Nancy Pelosi’s chief of staff Drew Hammill also re tweeted it. Apparently, Rep Hakeem Jeffries controls the House Dems account but it’s unclear if he fired off the tweet or not. Regardless, it was just two days ago that Pelosi admonished her crew to not tweet any complaints but go directly to her. It doesn’t look like that effort to regain control over her caucus is working out well for Pelosi.

  4. Heh. Just after Pelosi scolded her members, Hammill clarified Pelosi’s intent:

The Speaker was not scolding progressives. She was saying to all Members that we as a family should have our conversations together as a Caucus not on Twitter. This was a general comment not aimed at any particular Member or group. This was a unifying speech & well received.

So how’s that unification working out for them, eh?

    Dana (bb0678)

  5. Uh-oh! Judging from the responses to Drew Hamill’s retweet, he and whoever did the first tweet may have run afoul of several Alinsky Rules:

    2. “Never go outside the expertise of your people.”
    3. “Whenever possible go outside the expertise of the enemy.”
    4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”

    Twitter is AOC’s campus martius.

  6. It gets even better: Whoever runs the House Democrats Twitter account, Jeffries or one of his interns, apparently stole the tweet unattributed from some college kid in Missouri who is an intern in Democrat politics. Man, these guys are so much fun.

    JVW (54fd0b)

  7. Omg, that’s too funny!

    Dana (bb0678)

  8. And, lest we think the House Democrats tweet was a rouge operation by a soon-to-be-fired communications intern, the caucus spokesman apparently told a Daily Beast reporter that this tweet was not an accident.

  9. Pelosi and biden our the past. AOC is the future of democrat party. Democrat base was told to hold their nose and vote for clinton or else and now are told to hold their nose and vote for biden. Pelosi is what is left of the corporate establishment wing of democrat party. Pelosi will get primaried in 2020!

  11. in other news, this kid just announced he’s entering the Dem Pres. Primary. He’s got a bold new message to energize the base.

If this was a clap, it was brilliantly subtle. If this was a typo, it was the most fortuitous typo of the year.

Either way, congratulations on the commentating win.

  17. More in the split from House Democrats and Justice Dems (backing AOC and progressive wing). This from Justice Dems:

It’s deeply concerning and almost unbelievable that @HouseDemocrats leadership is focused on cracking down on progressives pushing the party to more aggressively address the crisis at the border camps instead of holding Trump accountable.

    Where are your priorities?

Seems like no one is inclined to follow Pelosi’s directive to go straight to take any complaints straight to her. Either she is even more rapidly losing control of her caucus, or this is some clever strategy of hers to cause everything to come to a stunning head.

    Dana (bb0678)

  18. Nah, not even once. I even assign a height limit to cut down on the likelyhood.
