Christine Blasey Ford GoFundMe Tops Half a Million Dollars in #ResistanceBucks
Her lawyers are pro bono. Where is all this money going?
Very shortly after Laura Ingraham raised questions about the amount, the campaign announced it was no longer accepting donations. Who knows how many more #ResistanceBucks Ford could have raked in otherwise?
This raises genuine concerns about the incentives that such crowdfunding creates for people to make new claims against Kavanaugh, no matter how incredible. Why would someone come forward with a ridiculous claim like Avenatti’s “rape train” client? Here are 500,000 possible reasons.

Not only that, but regardless of how the Kavanaugh confirmation vote turns out, Prof. Ford can look forward to a life of being flown around (first class, because we know know much flying stresses her out), feted at dinners, and given lavish honoraria for banal speeches to left-wing groups. Here’s guessing that she will have a speaking slot at the 2020 Democrat Convention. Let’s hope that Keith Ellison is the presiding chair when she ascends to the podium.

Ford wasn’t actually involved in setting these up, yes as in multiple, there are half a dozen with her name attached which have raised more than $700k. The one referenced is actually closed now. None of them appear to actually be Ford, gofundme is supposed to ensure that only the named parties benefit, but that’s obviously a problem.
Check GoFraudMe.com to track the scams.
Gofundme has confirmed that they will be holding this money specifically to be directed by Ford, who is unaffiliated with these campaigns at present and they have yet to be in contact with.
So what does this mean? Like with most things, scammers have jumped in to make a buck. It is likely that gofundme will refund the bulk of this, minus their fees of course (7.9%), a very large percentage of pledges are refunded in most gofundme campaigns anyway. If Ford does connect with them, she may take the money, since it was gifted to her, she may tell them to refund it, or she may redirect the funds to something else.
Don’t pledge money on gofundme, its likely a scam, and if not, there are better ways to help people.

I’m not sure what you read into any comments here, but none of us to my knowledge were alleging that Prof. Ford herself was raising money. In fact, our whole point here is that left-wing activists on behalf of Prof. Ford are raising money to be distributed to her. That way she doesn’t have her fingerprints on it, just like your huffing and puffing suggests. But either way, just as you rightly point out, the money will go to Prof. Ford unless she chooses to decline it.
Some right-wing activists were trying to raise money on GoFundMe to pay for security concerns for Brett Kavanaugh’s family, but I think they have ended the campaign at the request of people close to Kavanaugh. Let’s see if Prof. Ford declines the funds as well.
But my point about her now being an in-demand feminist speaker with a nice honorarium level stands.
