Buy Through the Amazon Search Box on the Sidebar

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:29 pm

After a brief hiatus, the Amazon search box is back! Please buy something to test it out. Once I verify it’s up and running, and working, I’ll explain more about the hiatus, the different look, and so forth.

Please note: only access Amazon through the widget. Do not use a bookmark. That is not allowed.

  1. Maybe if you put Trump’s picture on the link you’d get more hits.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  2. I got terminated for promoting access to the Amazon site through a bookmark. I had to reapply and now have a different ID. So yeah, I’m sure. Has to be the widget. No bookmarks.

In fact, I am deleting the comment about a bookmark because I don’t want them to see it.

    Patterico (115b1f)

  3. Ohhh, no wonder Patterico was promoting the Bezos hoax against Roy Moore so heavily. He gettin Bezos dollars.

    jcurtis (74367d)

  4. That would be funny except jcurtis, based on his past history, is almost certainly serious.

    LOL

    Patterico (115b1f)

  5. And there I thought you did not like Moore because he did not endorse Trump in the Presidential primary, Patterico.

    nk (dbc370)

  6. My past history is pristine. Take me to task with citations since you are implying against me. Even feel free to cherry pick the thousands of posts that I’ve made here.

How much does your master Bezos pay you? He fund’s your existence, doesn’t he?

    jcurtis (74367d)

  7. Who pays jcurtis to comment here?

    DRJ (15874d)

  8. How much does your master Bezos pay you? He fund’s your existence, doesn’t he?

    You’re kidding, right?

    Dana (023079)

  9. I heard a podcaster say he got booted from Amazon for telling his listeners to buy through his link. Maybe it was the BM thing and he was confused.

    Pinandpuller (a3a77c)

  10. Hope the last book I ordered from your site was a score for you.

    mg (60b0f7)

  11. @ jcurtis: Random apos’trophes inje’cted into words that don’t need’ apostrophes’ confus’es your/you’re/ur message, dude.

If you’ve actually made thousands of posts here, that pretty much refutes your premise — because the bandwidth on which you’ve done that has been paid for in part by the Amazon.com revenues from those (like me) who’ve regularly made their purchases through this website. Bezos bucks are funding you, jcurtis!

    Beldar (fa637a)

  12. How much does your master Bezos pay you? He fund’s your existence, doesn’t he?

You realize he’s not kidding, folks. He’s another ignorant mega-Trumper who thinks apostrophes are random decorations before a final s in any word, including a verb. He actually thinks I oppose Moore because Jeff Bezos “fund’s” my existence.

    Patterico (bd44cc)

  13. Hope the last book I ordered from your site was a score for you.

Unless you ordered after this post was published, or more than two moths ago, I doubt it. When they terminated me all pending commissions were canceled.

    Patterico (bd44cc)

  14. Oh goody. The World needs mega-trumpeters

    Ben burn (03656a)

  15. It looks like it worked. Some people clicked through and one person ordered something. So we’re operational again.

  16. jet.com has an affiliates program now you know

not sure if Mr. Bezos allows people to have both though

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  17. jet.com has an affiliates program now you know

Never heard of it. Do people use it?

    Patterico (115b1f)

  18. I use Walmart and Amazon, and Walmart owns Jet.

    DRJ (15874d)

  19. i price compare amazon to jet and go with jet sometimes

also for some things – mostly like dry goods – it’s just easier to use – you never get predatory results like sometimes you get on Amazon, and you don’t have to navigate through crap like not being able to remove Amazon Fresh results

also Jet is much more friendly to people what want to buy in bulk or go off-brand

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  20. when jet started it was partnered with costco (kirkland) and they did a very very good job of that –

weirdly they did a much better job integrating the costco (kirkland) offerings than they have with walmart (great value) offerings

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  21. Jet is for people who don’t drive, don’t live within walking distance of a Target or Walmart, and don’t like carrying shopping bags on public transportation.

    nk (dbc370)

  22. yes yes Mr. nk that’s pretty much the idea

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  23. chickens##t club is a great, Patterico.
    keep the suggestions coming.

    mg (60b0f7)

  24. i did a purchasing i got a tofu press and set in a stpre of the off-brand nespresso capsules i like

this is the tofu press and these are the faux-nespressos

i decided to heavy-up on the faux-nespresso cause i went to re-order the last ones i got and Mr. Bezos had jacked up the price

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  25. oops actually these ones are the better-priced nespressos

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  26. set in a *store* i mean

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  27. Decided against a tofu joke as it was tasteless

    mg (60b0f7)

  28. i’m a just see if I can maybe do more tofus next year

i been ordering a salad a lot for delivery and it looks like it’s pretty easy to do if you get the tofu right

and this tofu they do is really good – pressed and seasoned and seared or whatever really pleasantly

it’s tofu with an equal part of a very nice kimchi (regular old napa cabbage kind) over iceberg and sometimes cucumbers (sliced into rounds and then into strips)

they serve the tofu warm but i always order a couple and they usually just go straight into the fridge for laters

so anyways if I can nail the tofu all i need is to find a kimchi i like and i should be able to make this all by myself

my secret is I drizzle a little unagi sauce on what they send over

    this makes it more edible!

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  29. i eat meat for my tofu substitute
besides tofu has the texture of lutefisk

    mg (60b0f7)

  30. Tofu is how you motivate Kamikaze pilots. Anything not to have to eat the stuff again.

    nk (dbc370)

  31. Well done, mg 28.

    DRJ (15874d)

  32. @28 mg lol!

@29 hf Do you find it appeals to your feminine side?

  35. Before this, in early spring 2016, Simpson approached Steele, his friend and colleague. Steele began to scrutinise Paul Manafort, who would soon become Trump’s new campaign manager. From April, Steele investigated Trump on behalf of the DNC, Fusion’s anonymous client. All Steele knew at first was that the client was a law firm. He had no idea what he would find. He later told David Corn, Washington editor of the magazine Mother Jones: “It started off as a fairly general inquiry.” Trump’s organisation owned luxury hotels around the world. Trump had, as far back as 1987, sought to do real estate deals in Moscow. One obvious question for him, Steele said, was: “Are there business ties to Russia?”

that’s what the press is for Mr. mg

it gives it a much more palatable texture for america

  45. Joining me is Bruce Bartlett. (Bartlett was one of Ronald Reagan’s supply-side economic advisers.) Bruce, we were on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show the other night when he said this was the most draconian tax increase on ordinary Americans and the biggest tax cut on the rich ever in history. Do you agree with that assessment?”

“That’s exactly correct. Certainly there have been large tax increases on everyday Americans, especially during World War II,” he said.

“But at the same time taxes were increased even more on the wealthy. There’s never been a tax cut in American history in which taxes were raised on the poor to benefit the wealthy. In fact, I don’t know of any other country that has done anything remotely like this,” he said.

(I seem to remember Bruce’s old boss paying for tax cuts for the wealthy by raising Social Security taxes on workers, but okay.)

“Is there any economic justification for permanently lowering the corporate tax rate and increasing taxes on low income Americans? Is there any economic justification for it?” Reid asked.

“There’s a perfectly good justification for fixing the corporate side of the tax code, but it absolutely must be done in a revenue neutral manner by getting rid of corporate tax loopholes, not by raising taxes on individuals,” Bartlett said.

Oh…I had been using the bookmark.

I don’t think it mattered whether you used the bookmark or not. The bookmark simply gave you the same URL that clicking on the link would do.

Amazon disqualified Patterico.com for promoting the bookmark, which meant people were not buying extra, or buying at that time, or they were not reminded to buy because they were on Patterico.com and saw the amazon.com link; but they were doing all their Amazon buying that they would do anyway through the link. Patterico lost ALL of his commissions for the last two months.

Amazon apparently is only lightly policing this to avoid free riding, or maybe they can’t without discontinuing the whole thing..
