All the News Is Stupid Today

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:31 am

I tried. I scoured the headlines for something interesting. But all the news is stupid today.

The L.A. Times has a blueprint for how Dems will attack Republicans for trying to repeal (parts of) ObamaCare. Of course, repealing any program that large will inevitably be disruptive, but of course that doesn’t make the original program a good thing. It ain’t popular, I can tell you that. Predictable.

The New York Times has an article that evokes a specter of people giving Nazi salutes to Richard Spencer. But I don’t trust the reporter. Read the piece and you’ll see why. I don’t even feel like explaining it. Annoying.

Other places they’re still talking about Hamilton and Mike Pence. Kill me now.

I picked the wrong day to get out of bed. I’d go back, but, you know. Work.

Have a nice day. Maybe you have something more interesting than I do.

  13. Perhaps a sing along would improve the mood?

    Here’s a catchy tune

    Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead

Once there was a wicked witch in the lovely land of Oz
And a wickeder, wickeder, wickeder witch there never, never was
She filled the folks in Munchkin land with terror and with dread
‘Till one fine day from Kansas way a cyclone caught a house
That brought the wicked, wicked witch her doom
As she was flying on her broom
For the house fell on her head and the coroner pronounced her dead
And thru the town the joyous news was spread

Ding-dong, the witch is dead! Which old witch? The wicked witch
Ding-dong, the wicked witch is dead
Wake up, you sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed
Wake up, the wicked witch is dead!
She’s gone where the goblins go below, below, below, yo ho
Let’s open up and sing, and ring the bells out
Ding-dong! the merry-o sing it high, sing it low
Let them know the wicked witch is dead

Ding-dong, the witch is dead! Which old witch? The wicked witch
Ding-dong, the wicked witch is dead
Wake up, you sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed
Wake up, the wicked witch is dead!
She’s gone where the goblins go below, below, below, yo ho
Let’s open up and sing, and ring the bells out
Ding-dong! the merry-o sing it high, sing it low
Let them know the wicked witch is dead

I know it has cheered me up every morning since November 8th.

  27. How can anyone expect normal behavior from propagandists within two weeks of Minitrue suffering the greatest humiliation of its entire existence? They will instinctively fall back on the tired memes and tropes used to sustain the failed narrative but even the dumbest among them realize there is very little hope left of sustaining any illusion of success, whether it regards a resurgence of the now moribund Democrat Party, the crumbling European Union or the air taxes to fight a nonexistent SkyDragon. The air taxes were supposed to finance all the other schemes and now they aren’t going to be collected because the damned bitter clingers won’t buy into the fantasy.

Bankruptcy awaits the propaganda organs and the propagandists know it. There should be no surprise at any increase in stupidity as failure cascades through a thoroughly rotten system.

The euricrats and Mexico are considering putting a carbon tariff on us, for not offering a proper sacrifice to the skydragon,

Wouldn’t Nafta have to be torn up if Mexico did that? What would that do, anyway? It would only reduce consumpton in the EU or Mexico.

Meanwhile Trump is being warned that much of Mar-a-Lago could be underwater by the year 2100 because the Antarctic ice sheets could melt.

Actually this claim goes back to the summer:

    http://grist.org/climate-energy/rising-seas-are-lapping-at-the-doors-of-trumps-real-estate-empire/

But at the Republican presidential contenderā€™s Palm Beach estate and the other properties that bear his name in South Florida, the water is already creeping up bridges and advancing on access roads, lawns, and beaches because of sea-level rise, according to a risk analysis prepared for the Guardian.

In 30 years, the grounds of Mar-a-Lago could be under at least a foot of water for 210 days a year because of tidal flooding along the intracoastal water way, with the water rising past some of the cottages and bungalows, the analysis by Coastal Risk Consulting found.

If that’s what is happening, it isn’t going to be prevented by any carbon dioxide agreement. It might be prevened by spewing sulfer dioxide – and not very much of it – over the poles.

Trump’s grandfather left Germany in 1885, and returned in 1901 where he married and left for New York. A feb 1905 decree gave him eight weeks to leave Bavaria oir else face deportation. he had not eprformed military service or left a security deposit. After his appeal was turned down, he left for New York on July 1, 1905 with his oregnant wife. Donald trump’s father, fred was born in New York six months later.

  56. The story on meeting between Trump and the media is great.

Meeting is off the record. There are 30-40 attendees, including the heads of all the major networks, and most of their top anchors.

Rather than discuss the mechanics of how they will be allowed to cover Trump’s WH, Trump simply rips them for 60 minutes about how they are all liars and the media is dishonest. Called out Zucker by name and said he hated CNN — should make for interesting coverage for 4 years.

Didn’t call out any individual reporters by name, but clearly was referring to Katy Tur. He also referred to a “horrible” correspondent who cried when Hillary lost, and who also hosted a debate – that was obviously Martha Raddatz.

Then Kellyanne Conway comes out to address the press gaggle that is covering Trump, who weren’t in the meeting, and she says “Excellent meetings with the top executives of all the major networks”.
