Parents Grieve, Media Jumps At Opportunity to Display Their Bias

Filed under: General — Dana @ 9:56 am

[guest post by Dana]

Two weeks, the Republican National Convention’s opening night theme was “Make America Safe Again”. Patricia Smith, mother of Sean Smith, killed during the attack on the diplomatic compound in Benghazi, gave a gut-wrenching speech in which she bared her grief and directly blamed Hillary Clinton for the loss of her son. She also argued that it was Donald Trump, not Hillary Clinton, who would keep our nation safe:

For all of this loss, for all of this grief, for all of the cynicism the tragedy in Benghazi has wrought upon America, I blame Hillary Clinton. I blame Hillary Clinton personally for the death of my son.

In an email to her daughter shortly after the attack, Hillary Clinton blamed it on terrorism.

But when I saw Hillary Clinton at Sean’s coffin ceremony, just days later, she looked me squarely in the eye and told me a video was responsible.

Since then, I have repeatedly asked Hillary Clinton to explain to me the real reason why my son is dead. I’m still waiting.

Whenever I called the State Department, no one would speak to me because they say I am “not a member of the immediate family.” Sean is my son.

Hillary Clinton is a woman, a mother and a grandmother of two. I am a woman, a mother and a grandmother of two. How could she do this to me? How could she do this to any American family? Donald Trump is everything Hillary Clinton is not.

And, when it comes to the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism, he will not hesitate to kill the terrorists who threaten American lives.
He will make America stronger, not weaker. This entire campaign comes down to a single question.

If Hillary Clinton … can’t give us the truth … why should we give her the presidency.

Reactions to Smith’s speech ranged from expected compassion to frustration that Hillary Clinton, who once called Smith a liar, has been given a pass on Benghazi.

But then there was also this from the non-partisan and unbiased media:

Untitled

And this from Chris Matthews:

“I don’t understand why the Republicans would choose to put this on prime-time television when they have such wonderful stories of American heroism to speak to the American people,” an emotional Matthews said. “I think it was wrong.

“I don’t care what that woman up there, the mother, has felt. Her emotions are her own. But for the country in choosing a leader, it’s wrong to have someone get up there and tell a lie about Hillary Clinton. It’s not true. It’s logically not true. I think it’s wrong that they ruined their evening with this.”

Last week at the Democratic National Convention, with his wife standing quietly by his side, the father of U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan pushed back against Donald Trump’s plan to limit Muslim immigration in the U.S. as he emotionally shared about his son who died in Iraq while saving the lives of fellow soldiers in 2004:

Tonight we are honoured to stand here as parents of Captain Humayun Khan and as patriotic American Muslims – with undivided loyalty to our country.

Like many immigrants, we came to this country empty-handed. We believed in American democracy; that with hard work and goodness of this country, we could share in and contribute to its blessings.

Our son, Humayun, had dreams too, of being a military lawyer, but he put those dreams aside the day he sacrificed his life to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. Hillary Clinton was right when she called my son ‘the best of America’.

If it was up to Donald Trump, he never would have been in America. Donald Trump consistently smears the character of Muslims. He disrespects other minorities; women; judges; even his own party leadership.

He vows to build walls, and ban us from this country. Donald Trump, you’re asking Americans to trust you with their future.

Let me ask you: have you even read the United States constitution? I will gladly lend you my copy. [he pulls it out] In this document, look for the words ‘liberty’ and ‘equal protection of law’.

Have you ever been to Arlington Cemetery? Go look at the graves of brave patriots who died defending the United States of America.

You will see all faiths, genders and ethnicities. You have sacrificed nothing and no one.

We cannot solve our problems by building walls, sowing division. We are stronger together. And we will keep getting stronger when Hillary Clinton becomes our President.

In conclusion, I ask every patriot American, all Muslim immigrants, and all immigrants to not take this election lightly.

This is a historic election, and I request to honour the sacrifice of my son – and on election day, take the time to get out and vote.

And vote for the healer. vote for the strongest, most qualified candidate, Hillary Clinton, not the divider. God bless you, thank you.

With rare exception, Khizr Khan’s speech was sympathetically received by both sides of the aisle — meaning Democrats and the MSM on one side, and Republicans on the other. How could it not be? Who can judge the pain and grief of the Khans and their profound loss? And yet, that same measure of respect and sympathy was not extended to Patricia Smith. In the eyes of a biased media, Smith’s loss was simply not as profound as the Khan’s. And that’s because in the eyes of a media hungry for any opportunity to push a political bias, all grieving parents cannot be seen as equal.

To their shame, this double-standard response and eagerness to climb on top of the dead bodies of two fine Americans to push a partisan bias only further cements the mainstream media’s collective state of woeful disgrace and reveals that it is they who are but decomposing corpses.

  10. I feel sad for the Khans, they lost a son and there they stood in the middle of the people who are most likely to blame for his death. The crowd voted for Obama and he and Hillary made many horrible decisions that eventually have killed sons and daughters of Americans. And most likely will kill many more.

  11. I’d be a little less cynical about this issue if they hadn’t trashed Sean Smith’s mother only a week prior.
But then again, her son’s death was arguably the result of the incompetence and poor judgment of The Most Competent and Judicious Presidential Candidate of All Time!

Identifying a Muslim-American soldier who nobly died twelve years ago in service to our country is not a very persuasive counter-argument against tightening up our borders and VISA program for people emanating from nations that are hothouses for exporting terrorism.

Senator Hillary Clinton voted for the war that got your kid killed in Iraq a dozen years ago.
Private citizen Donald Trump did not.

Hillary’s convention opened showcasing illegal aliens as feature speakers addressing the delegates and a national TV audience. Trump’s convention did not.

Illegal aliens have ended the lives of Americans in America just as valued as that of your kid’s in Iraq. So what makes your loss anymore ‘special’ than theirs? Nothing.

    Why wouldn’t they be?

Both hate Jews named Bernie. Both of them hate Americans.

Both camps praise Allah. ( The Democratic National Convention has curtained off several “interfaith” spaces for prayer, but the only sign of religion in any of the spaces is Islam.)

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention is raising a number of eyebrows after choosing to proceed with featuring Islamic “Jumah” prayers for two hours on the Friday before its convention, though Democrats earlier denied a Catholic cardinal’s request to say a prayer at the same event.

You see what happened with this couple saying the nice thing about Clinton. It only cost Hillary exclusive religion rights for Islam at the DNC.

There are fifty two “NATO” warheads sitting on the tarmac in Turkey.

Who do you think will leave them there up until the Shaw of Turkistan over runs the base?

The host committee for the Democratic National Convention is raising a number of eyebrows after choosing to proceed with featuring Islamic “Jumah” prayers for two hours on the Friday before its convention, though Democrats earlier denied a Catholic cardinal’s request to say a prayer at the same event.

    That’s bullshit for two reasons:

    1. Dolan was invited and did give a prayer at the convention, and there was never any reason to believe he had been “denied”.
    2. There was no Moslem prayer at the convention. The Jummah was one of 1000 or so private events that were held around the convention. Any Catholic who wanted to hold a similar event could have done so, for as many hours as he liked, and had it listed in the DNC host committee’s “upcoming events” list.

    1. Dolan was invited and did give a prayer at the convention, and there was never any reason to believe he had been “denied”. The NY Post just made that up, as it always does.
    2. There was no Moslem prayer at the convention. The Jummah was one of 1000 or so private events that were held around the convention. I hope, Dana, that the American people are watching and that they note the complete absence and disinterest towards bereaved mother Patricia Smith. I’m sure CNN does not even see its own bias. Liberalism, leftism, is a mental disease.

    Patricia (5fc097)

  53. Patricia,

Here’s Hillary’s condescendingly passive-aggressive dismissal of Smith this morning in an interview with Chris Wallace:

WALLACE: She and the father of Tyrone Woods both say that on the day that their sons’ bodies were returned to the United States that you came up to them and you said it was all because of a video, not terrorism. Now, I know some of the other families disagree with this, and I know you deny it. The question is, why would they make that up?

HILLARY CLINTON: Chris, my heart goes out to both of them. Losing a child under any circumstances, especially in this case, two State Department employees, extraordinary men both of them, two CIA contractors gave their lives protecting our country, our values. I understand the grief and the incredible sense of loss that can motivate that. As other members of families who lost loved ones have said, that’s not what they heard, I don’t hold any ill feeling for someone who in that moment may not fully recall everything that was or wasn’t said.

Given the ease with which she lies and dismisses grieving parents coupled with the media’s shameful enabling of her, I don’t have much hope of her ever being held accountable – no matter how many of us note the double-standard.

    Dana (995455)

  54. It’s not a matter of recall and she knwos it. It’s a matter of properly interpreting what Hillary Clinton said and payong careful attention to the exact language, and also asking the right question of the family members.

I don’t think she said it was not terrorism, and she probably never said the attack was caused by a video. She said the person responsible was going to be put in jail, which could be interpreted as meaning the man associated with the video if you were following the news.

    Sammy Finkelman (7fce49)

  55. Regarding Pat Smith, her speech shows confusion (which Democrats are not pointing out bith because they are themselves confused and because it is not in the interests of Hillary Clinton to un-confuse people.)

I have some doubts Patricia Smith even wrote it herself, it’s so wrong.

    It went in part:

The last time I talked to Sean, the night before the terrorist attack, he told me, “Mom, I am going to die.”

All security had been pulled from the embassy, he explained. And when he asked why, he never received a response.

I don’t think this is correct about him predicting his own death, at least not the next day the way she makes it sound. That would mean he knew an attack was coming, but it came without warning. I think I remember reading something llike he did think he might die after the attack started.

More important, He didn’t die at the embassy.

The State Department was very particular (probably under HRC’s direction, but there is no e-mail or any other record public that shows what role she played) to correct the CIA-authored talking points so that it was clear it wasn’t even a consulate. Just a mission.

Just a place for the Ambassador to stay when he went into Benghazi that continued to be used even after things got dangerous in Benghazi so that he would not, by going there, give away the location of the secret annex, which did have a lot of protection.

I know, it’s worse than stupid, because the terrorists really knew where the other place was.

    Sammy Finkelman (643dcd)

  59. I a\saw Eric trump being interviewed on CBS This Morning. he was completely unprepared on benghazi, as were his interviewers. He seeme to think that the people killed in benghazi weer soldiers (they were not, technically) and that Sean Smith was killed on the roof. I am pretty sure he was totally unaware that there were the first two deaths and the seciond two deaths were separated by hours, and took place at different locations.

That’s not his fault for not researching it – he shhouldn;’t have to. That’s teh fault of the campaign for not getting s its facts stariught.

And Pat Smith’s speech contained lots of obvious errors. don’t know who wrote it.

And now – Rush Limnbaugh noted that julian Assauge claims he has more e-mails. Rush did not commit himself on what the CIA wasa doing in Benghazi, which is good.

I do NOT think that, in the end, Hillary wants people to understand things better, Then you will have undeniable facts about things that were done wrong.

As I have said, I think the same person who murdered Vincent Foster may have engineered the death of the Ambassador in Benghazi: Prince Bandar bin Sultan, Ambassador to the United States in 1993, and head of Saudi intelligence in 2012.
