President Obama’s Busy Day After Democrats End Fundraiser Sit-In and U.K. Voters Say No

This announcement couldn’t have come at a better time given it was made the day after the Democrats ended their embarrassing “No bill, no break” fundraising sit-in and on the heels of a little vote that didn’t go the way President Obama hoped-and warned- that it should. He could certainly use some good P.R. right about now.

President Barack Obama created the first national monument to gay rights on Friday, designating the site of the Stonewall riots in Manhattan where the modern gay rights movement took root nearly five decades ago.

The Stonewall National Monument will be anchored by Christopher Park, a small park just across from the iconic Stonewall Inn tavern, and covers a 7.7 acre swath of Greenwhich Village where the uprising took place after police raided the gay bar in 1969. Obama said the monument would “tell the story of our struggle for LGBT rights” and of a civil rights movement that became a part of America.

“I believe our national parks should reflect the full story of our country: the richness and diversity and uniquely American spirit that has always defined us,” Obama said. “That we are stronger together, that out of many, we are one.”

Sunday marks the one-year anniversary of the Supreme Court decision to legalize gay marriage.

P.S. I am currently travelling and have very limited internet connection. As such, if someone already posted about this, please just disregard this post.

  1. How sad that every announcement and decision made by this president is suspect.

  3. This is just a hunch, but I bet Saudi Arabia and Iran don’t have the equivalent to a state-sanctioned monument for a gay bar.

  7. On April 12, 2016, President Barack Obama designated Sewall-Belmont House as the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument, named for Alice Paul and Alva Belmont.

Fort Ord designated a National Monument April 20, 2012. That’s the darnedest thing.

See, when you’re traveling along the coast in California, (the entire length of California coastline is a National Monument which is just another way of the federal government saying to locals, “Who let you in here? Get out of my water!”)
there are two toll booths, one is San Francisco (ostensibly to pay for the upkeep of the bridge)
the other is to keep riff raff out of Monterey.
Fort Ord was formerly the only access to Monterey that didn’t remind a person of wallet rape.

Now that Fort Ord is defunked, that’s a not of the state non socialist controlled chunk of already developed real estate in a prime location.
So whatever flowery language the boy used, forget it. This was an anti progress no soup for you Nazi socialist land grab, pure and simple.

  8. Recently there has been talk of the difficulty having once been installed how to have your name removed from the no fly list.

How about having your property removed from the national no build list?
Bet that one is tough to do.

  26. This is just a “squirrel” moment. “O” wants to disarm gays so they can’t shoot back when the next attempted massacre comes around – so he throws a sop in their direction, and distracts their attention, by making a gay bar a national monument.

  27. The BrExit is just one symptom. Others, like ISIS, have been intentionally overlooked. More will follow as the corruption metastasizes.

The disease is Obama, the enablers in his administration, his political allies such as sit-in-Pelosi and the Clinton/Kerry duet in the State Department, and the welfare parasites he’s nurtured with his call to class- and racial warfare. There have been no adults in upper reaches of international affairs for seven and a half years.

There is no reason to believe that this will end well. But the symptoms are no longer ignored. A cure will only be possible when we recognize the name of the disease.

  28. “the other is to keep riff raff out of Monterey.”

The riff raff are kept out of Monterey? I thought it was ALL riff raff.

Let’s just cut to the chase, pace Andy Warhol, and give every single citizen in the country (scratch that, PERSON, not citizen) their own national monument. Sort of like how every kid gets a trophy now.

Somebody once asked a friend of the late, great poet Frank O’Hara, who was famously very gay, what he would have thought of the whole Stonewall thing had he lived to see it.

The guy laughed and said, “Oh, he would have thought it was ridiculous. But he would have loved the dances.”
