AG Lynch Vows To Take Action On Behalf Of Some

Filed under: General — Dana @ 8:30 am

[guest post by Dana]

Attorney General Loretta Lynch spoke to a Muslim Advocacy group just one day after the terrorist attack in San Bernardino, vowing to take action against “anti-Muslim rhetoric” that “edges toward violence.”

“Now obviously this is a country that is based on free speech,” she said. “but when it edges towards violence, when we see the potential for someone lifting that mantle of anti-Muslim rhetoric or, as we saw after 9/11, violence against individuals… when we see that, we will take action.”

“I think it’s important that as we again talk about the importance of free speech we make it clear that actions predicated on violent talk are not America. They are not who we are, they are not what we do, and they will be prosecuted,” she concluded.

In an effort to clarify what remains vague and unspecific in her comments, Eugene Volokh offers this distinction:

If the attorney general is trying to suggest that the Justice Department will generally prosecute people for speech that “edges towards violence,” or for “anti-Muslim hatred, including rhetoric,” that’s bad. If she’s trying to suggest that the Justice Department will sometimes investigate such people in order to see if they have more than just rhetoric on their minds, that’s fine.

Interestingly, I don’t remember AG Lynch making any such vows regarding anti-Christian rhetoric and accusations of Christian terrorism after the Colorado Planned Parenthood attack last month.

  1. Hello.

    Dana (86e864)

  2. Obama and Co. continue to absolutely astound me in their contempt for Americans.

    Patricia (5fc097)

  3. Interesting. Both lynch and obama use “that’s not who we are.” When I hear them say that I always think “they are not what we are.” They are divisive, racist communists and that’s not who we are.

I hope Trump cleans out everyone in justice when he comes in. Tell them all “you’re fired!!”

  4. “I don’t remember AG Lynch making any such vows regarding anti-Christian rhetoric”

Or anti-white rhetoric, especially in connection with the knock-out game attacks which the left pretends do not happen.

  5. as we saw after 9/11, violence against individual

yes yes yes America shamed itself after 9/11 in how it did all the violence on the muslims and this is not who we are

Obama knows just what to do

  6. I really want to see liberals like Lynch required to reside in the middle of an Islamic culture/society, where they can live and enjoy the experience 24/7, 365 days of the year.

Walk the walk and don’t just talk the talk, Loretta, etc.

Either that or such folks should be picked up and moved to a city like Detroit, Michigan, where instead of having plenty of reactionary Sharia-ite neighbors all around them, they’ll have plenty of dysfunctional liberal-Democrat neighbors all around them.

People of the left deserve no less.

  7. btw only ten sleazy whorish Republicans voted to confirm this corrupt inarticulate hooch

    let’s review

    Mitch McConnell (Ky.)

    Lindsey Graham (S.C.)

    Jeff Flake (Ariz.)

    Thad Cochran (Miss.)

  9. How about mobs that chant “pigs in blanket!” There’s plenty of video allowing identification of such individuals, and riots often follow such “protests” with videos of rioters burning police cars, looting stores, etc., which in normal times would have resulted in prosecutions.

It would be very interesting to see if these “folks”, who really are aberrations to “who we are”, share any connections with the administration, or Soros’ many front groups. And the DoJ is uniquely positioned to do the investigation. Heck, they could probably do it from their offices simply by sharing contacts information from their cell phones.

OT: McConnell continues to complain about what the Democrats in the Senate will let him do (see the video at the bottom of this link.) The problem isn’t the Democrats, the problem is McConnell.

    Yes indeed.
Would it be unfair for me to suggest that it is very likely that Loretta Lynch would willingly work for someone promising black racists their own version of the “final solution”? In fact, we already have a dark-skinned Hitler wanna-be in the person of Louis Farrakhan, and we have seen that he is not shunned and anathematized by Progressive Thinking Persons of Color.

  12. Now that the facts regarding the shootings are fairly well established, it’s time to move on to the “Muslims fear backlash” story that is always so popular in the aftermath of these events.

  15. Unless those history books are really wrong, this whole USA thing got started with a bunch of rhetoric that “edges toward violence” and in fact, actually got there. So if that Back-to-theFuture DeLoreon took Ms Lynch for a ride, would she be King George’s front-person in putting down those rebellious colonists?

Probably so, if there was something in it for her personally.

    Gramps (bc022b)

  16. What about “anti-American rhetoric” that “edges toward violence?” Shouldn’t an American Attorney General at least pay lip-service to the people she’s officially being paid to defend?

Or, is that asking too much from a member of the Obama Administration?

    ropelight (d6605d)

  17. Reuters, December 5: [Tashfeen Malik] spoke broken English and her primary language was Urdu, Farook family attorney David Chesley said, adding: “She was very conservative.”

So why the hell are so many liberals very emotionally, attitudinally accommodating of people like Malki?!

Whatever the reason, this is merely another illustration that liberalism makes lots of its adherents prone to being two-faced, foolish and even deranged.

  23. With 93 U.S. District Attorneys and I don’t know how many deputy or asistant AGs as heads of sections or divisions in the DOJ, all of them with a great degree of independent authority, the job of Attorney General must be a lot like herding cats. Or trying to get a 100 prima donnas to sing in harmony. It takes an exceptional person to formulate a coherent policy for everyone to follow and enforce it. Dis broad ain’t it.

  29. I wish every high-profile conservative would join this talk-radio host and dare Lynch to arrest them for speaking out about the threat we face from Islam.

    DRJ (15874d)

  30. I agree, Colonel. They speculated the first target was the “easy” or “soft” one. We may never know for sure but it does make sense.

    DRJ (15874d)

  31. of those registered to vote, 100% were registered Democrats

Why don’t they release the voter registration of these folks? I bet if one was a Republican member of the NRA that would be plastered all over the front page of the Daily News. So yeah Colonel, I bet 100% so far were registered were registered democrat/socialist/Hillary supporters.

  32. nk, but all 93 are appointed by the president. On such matters, his selection criteria, being unrelated to adherence to the law or the constitution, could be quite effective in ensuring that his nominees were compliant with the transformation of our country. And I believe that Bush-43 actually made it possible for the appointees to serve indefinitely without Senate confirmation. Another strategic failure by 43. And unlike Bush-43, I have no doubt that the current president would dismiss them for any deviation from the cabal’s narrative. In contrast, Bush-43 couldn’t figure out how to get rid of four fools, one of whom didn’t see anything wrong with the State of Washington declaring a Democrat the winner in a race where about 1700 more votes were “cast” [manufactured] in Democratically controlled counties than there were validated voters, and after 3 recounts these miracle votes, which grew in number with each recount, were finally sufficient to allow a 130 vote margin for the Democrat. The issue was clouded even further when King County was found to have delayed mailing of 28,000 ballots to overseas servicemen, ensuring that many would not be able to vote in the election. The genius U. S. District Attorney saw nothing to concern him here. No denial of constitutional protections for Republican voters. Nope, life is good if you’re a lawyer in Seattle, and even better if you can do a few favors for the powerful.

  34. If I were to start worshiping at the Church of Machine Gun Kelly, would the government defer to my ritual smuggling of liquor to Indian reservations, periodic kidnapping of civic leaders, and daily bursts of automatic gunfire, tossing of handgrenades, assumption of aliases?

If not, then why the Fark do we put up with it from muslims?

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  35. yes, nate, radical Islamists do vote Democrat, as do the vast majority of criminals who have retained or regained voting rights.

And I fervently hope “fundamentalist Christians” vote Republican.

As for 2016, “We [Democrats] have suffered devastating losses at all levels of government since 2008 including: 69 House seats, 13 Senate seats, 910 state legislative seats, 30 state legislative chambers [and] 11 governorships.” While the party energized young and minority voters in 2008 and 2012, according to the report, its leadership is still largely old and white, and it has struggled to recruit new leaders and fresh-faced candidates at the state and local level.

Put another way: Starting with the GOP’s capture of liberal stalwart Sen. Ted Kennedy’s seat in true-blue Massachusetts, Democrats have lost once-solid majorities in both houses of Congress, a power outage that party leaders are unlikely to repair any time soon. Republicans now occupy governors’ mansions in former Democratic strongholds like Illinois and Massachusetts to match its long-held bastions in the South and Midwest. The GOP also flipped several state legislatures in states like Wisconsin from blue to red, a shift that put them in the driver’s seat when it came time to draw up political districts and lock themselves into power for the foreseeable future.”

  54. I wrote this comment last night in response to the mention of Obama’s legacy at #48 but before I could submit it my net connection went down.

Obama doesn’t give a tinker’s damn about what Americans see as his so-called legacy. He knows that ship sailed years ago. He’s already going down in US history as an example of what happens when an enemy agent wins the White House. The last 7 years have been a harsh lesson in the consequences for a representative government of allowing the toxic politics of race to override the necessity of fully vetting the background of any candidate for high office honestly and forthrightly. If we don’t learn that lesson now we’re doomed to suffer a repeat of this traitor’s treachery as surely as the sun rises in the Middle East. America needs a leader who protects their lives and advances their interests, not someone obsessed with historical wrongs or global delusions.

At this point in Obama’s pretense of a presidency his focus is on continuing to enact his anti-American agenda: to undermine the rule of law, to further weaken the US economy, keeping the borders wide open so illegals of every criminal disposition and contagious disease can continue to invade our country along with the , continuing to alienate our traditional allies, maintaining the flow of arms to ISIS, and frightening Congress into kowtowing to his megalomaniacal thirst for absolute power.

In addition, and to the extent he can, consistent with his holy mission, and in accordance with his father’s dreams, Obama intends to maintain the illusion, keep the public from seeing his true face, remain in office and continue the most successful jihad in all of history – that’s his real legacy – and although his name will suffer the curse of infamy here, he knows his name will live in glory forever in the annals of Islam as the greatest warrior since Muhammad: Barack Hussein Obama – Deceiver of the Infidels, Protector of the Faithful, Slayer of the Great Satan, and Beloved of Allah.

  57. SON!!!!

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie™ (f4eb27)

  58. The last 7 years have been a harsh lesson in the consequences for a representative government of allowing the toxic politics of race

That lesson, however, is too limited and too much in keeping with the mindset of “shhh, please don’t talk about people’s political orientation! That’s rude and an overly private, personal matter!”

Almost no one (certainly in a very public setting), in response to the notion that slagging on Obama is an act of racism, retort with “who gives a damn about Obama’s race?! He’s a horrible leftwinger whose ideological biases make him a fool!”

In turn, almost none of the biggest fans of “Stop racism!!! Support diversity!” are ever singled out and knocked for being merely liberals who’d lose their ardor for socio-cultural variety and politicians like Obama if ideology were at the center of the debate instead of race/gender/sexuality/religion/nationality/etc.
