Berkeley Goes Nuts (Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One Before) [UPDATED]

Filed under: General — JVW @ 3:49 pm

[guest post by JVW]

A pro-Ku Klux Klan pro-lynching message was displayed on a computer at Berkeley High School yesterday afternoon, so naturally today saw a mass walkout by students and teachers protesting the “unsafe” environment and the school administration’s “slow” and “unacceptable” response. The students marched the few blocks from their campus to nearby UC Berkeley, where they encouraged the big kids to join them in their airing of grievances.

This whole contretemps seems to be following a typical pattern: a racially-tinged incident by an anonymous perpetrator is reported, campus activists seem to instantaneously be ready with a response including various demands for redress and an ostentatious demonstration to attract the media, everybody goes nuts for a few days and burns up the Internet with allegations and counter-allegations [just doing my part here, folks], then we find out that the initial incident was manufactured by individuals sympathetic to the aggrieved parties.

There is certainly a chance that this may be legit, and either the KKK is making a resurgence in, of all places, the East Bay of Northern California or else some sad loser is hacking into the system in order to harass minority students. But don’t be surprised if it turns out that this was contrived by activists to be used as a nice excuse to skip a day of classes and get some more media attention for the needy #BLM crowd.

UPDATE: School’s principal, claiming to have ID’d the perp: “We did probe the student’s motive, and my sense is that the motive in writing these comments was not to actually carry them out. Other motives did come up in the conversation that I’m not going to address right now.” Many thanks to commenter Mitch for the update.

  1. I denounce myself and JD, to whose earlier and helpful summary post I linked.

  2. Given where this occurred, it is most likely that this was a fabricated incident. I begin to think the KKK only still exists in the fevered half-wit brains of the left. (I’m sure there are still a few nitwits out there who “support” the continued existence of the KKK, but they are few and far between. They don’t have to do much as the left manages to keep them alive.)

  3. High school kids? They wouldn’t be normal if they were sensible. As long as they didn’t march on people’s lawns.

  4. Its called dehonkifacation.

  5. Is that what you did when you moved out of your mixed-race neighborhood into an all-white gated community, Perry?

    nk (dbc370)

  6. “. . . some sad loser is hacking into the system in order to harass minority students.”

I for one would like to inquire about Perry’s online whereabouts yesterday afternoon.

Well, considering that “walking while black” was a complete bust, the SJW crowd just had to do sumptin’ provocative to keep their troops ginned up. What’s better than screaming “KKK!!!!!!!” “LYNCHING!!!!!!!” “ARRRRRRGHHHHHH! My hair is on fire!!!”

As for the nitwits that actually support these ideas, many orf them I’ve met are old, dying out, and taking their repulsive crap with them.

The real problem is not only are they being encouraged by their teachers, who should know better, the teachers are actually leading these tantrums. Most of them I guess need to feel connected to the ’60’s, when most of them weren’t even a stain on the bed sheets yet.

    Bill H (2a858c)

  10. Berkeley smells like pee

we’re not talking iddle biddle bed sheet stains Mr. H

were talking acrid pools of urine the likes of which you’ve never contemplated

    happyfeet (831175)

  11. Ok, fair enough. The teachers wouldn’t be in Berkeley if they were normal. The whole town, not just the University, is nuttier than a fruitcake.

    nk (dbc370)

  12. there’s one thing my whole life i always wanted to do there Mr. nk lemme ask the googles

    happyfeet (831175)

  13. i wanna go here

it’s one of my regrets i never did that back when I was california dreamin

but you never know maybe someday

    happyfeet (831175)

  14. That does look like a nice place, happyfeet. I’m up in Berkeley now and again on business, but it’s a little rich for my travel budget. I can’t really even afford the Shattuck or the Durant, so I’m generally a Quality Inn kind of guy.

    JVW (738b08)

  15. this is very affordable and so so fun and you can walk up the hill to the campus shops and check the box – go check out the pool for sure and the courtyard grotto is – it’s one of those places with an outsized – how to say – sense of place

caveat they have no air conditioning

and I’m not sure they even have TVs

    but it’s a neat place

    happyfeet (831175)

  16. Ah yes, thanks happyfeet. I’ve walked by the City Club several times and always wondered how it was. Maybe one of these times I’ll give it a try.

Meanwhile, the Claremont’s Spa is being renovated through January 2016, so who really wants to go there anyway? Probably why you can get a $219 room there right now.

    JVW (738b08)

  17. The Claremont is to be avoided. Scroll down the images in Mr. Feets’s link and you will see someone you probably do not want as a fellow guest.

  18. ” The students marched the few blocks…”

    Was it a nice day?

Back in the day when I was an apprentice in a union on a unionized construction site we often found outrageous management conduct just before noon on warm sunny days. Especially Thursdays and Fridays.

    Strike! Strike! Strike!

In Jackson, Mn. a few years back, some future farmers of America decided to paint numbers on three sheep
1, 2 and 4. The teachers found 1, 2 and 4. The establishment looked for sheep no. 3 for the rest of the day, after letting everyone go home.

  21. I’ve walked by the City Club several times and always wondered how it was

My son, a lefty lawyer, had his wedding reception there. Another friend of his and I were standing outside smoking cigars and talking to kids walking down the hill from a football game at Strawberry Canyon when an angry middle aged women with a crew cut came out of the club. She told us that smoking was not allowed within 25 feet of the premises. I asked her for a tape measure and she marched off in a huff. I imagine by now the whole city is no smoking, except for pot, of course.

    My only experience there.

iirc, the city council banned outdoor tobacco smoking in the same session as they legalized outdoor pot smoking.

  28. A memorable Guy Fawkes Day to you all.

    Guy Fawkes Day (poem)

    The Fifth of November

    Remember, remember!
    The fifth of November,
    The Gunpowder treason and plot;
    I know of no reason
    Why the Gunpowder treason
    Should ever be forgot!
    Guy Fawkes and his companions
    Did the scheme contrive,
To blow the King and Parliament
    All up alive.
    Threescore barrels, laid below,
    To prove old England’s overthrow.
But, by God’s providence, him they catch,
With a dark lantern, lighting a match!
    A stick and a stake
    For King James’s sake!
If you won’t give me one,
    I’ll take two,
    The better for me,
    And the worse for you.
A rope, a rope, to hang the Pope,
A penn’orth of cheese to choke him,
A pint of beer to wash it down,
And a jolly good fire to burn him.

Holloa, boys! holloa, boys! make the bells ring!
Holloa, boys! holloa boys! God save the King!
    Hip, hip, hooor-r-r-ray!

  29. “Other motives” = suspect is a black student trying to engage in consciousness raising. Sense that student never intended to carry out threats was deduced from the words “KKK forever public lynching December 9″ and F*** all the N*** in the world”. School will never identify race of perpetrator because narrative.

    Average Joe (505f2a)

  30. If the supposed KKK perpetrator had included in his missive a strong denunciation of Clarence Thomas, Thomas Sowell and Ben Carson, the kids at Berkeley High would’ve paused, looked up, looked down, looked all away around and then muttered to one another, “well, er, uh, on second thought, maybe that Klanner has a good point after all.”

Then they’d all have piled into their cars or hopped onto their bicycles and arrogantly expressed quiet relief — and, in turn, denounced and boycotted themselves — over attending a school in Berserk-ly instead of, say, Oakland several miles away.

    Mark (f713e4)

  31. I agree with Average Joe. This is a student trying to ‘raise awareness’. An innocent that should be celebrated not castigated………wait, what?

    East Bay Jay (c65ac0)

This shyte is hilarious. The left is infantile and retarded. And I denounce myself.

  33. I can’t think of a more natural place for a resurgent KKK.

Don’t give them too much credit, Mark — the average BHS student probably has no idea who any of those three are. Their teachers and administrators on the other hand. . .

    JVW (738b08)

  35. I agree with Average Joe. This is a student trying to ‘raise awareness’. An innocent that should be celebrated not castigated………wait, what?

I don’t know if you saw it on the link in the update, but the principal has already announced that they won’t be releasing the name, grade, sex, or race of the perpetrator. But kids being kids, I’m sure some BHS students who know the perpetrator will tell everyone who he or she is.

Edit: My bad, the quote was in a different blog post. Here is the quote: “[Principal] Pasarow said school officials are concerned about possible retaliation against the student, and will not release any details that could be used for public identification, such as age, gender or race.”

    JVW (738b08)

  36. Ah, a trigger warning can shut down a school. We need more of them to show these poor snowflakes what reality is. I dream of going to a college and walking around saying trite, trigger warning type comments to students and watching them run off to safe spaces to escape me. But that would be too cruel. Heck, asking people if they know what Kate’s Law is seems to be a trigger warning now.
Although we have little in the way of details, I suspect that the students stabbed by the lone wolf terrorist the other day didn’t fight him. This 71 year old wonders about American’s survival instincts.

  37. The PrinciPAL, seemingly knows who DID this. DID WHAT, we don’t know yet. We have no real idea of what was SUPPOSEDLY DONE. But our PAL the PRINCIPAL claims to know who was the provacateur and is now trying to PROTECT the PERP from repercussions. SMELL TEST. DING DING DING DING.
Does not pass THE SMELL TEST, DOES NOT…COMPUTE.

  38. The National MEChA constitution was ratified on April 9, 1995 during the second annual National MEChA conference at the University of California, Berkeley (Cal).

See that. They already have the Mexiklan at Berkeley.

    The Afriklan is well represented.

  39. So a black kids posted the crap to smear white folks

    Got it.

    Rodney King's Spirit (ab8c0d)

  40. Back when we had some actual common sense in education, the principal would have pulled the offending student aside, and said, “You are not acting wisely; perhaps your father will have more to say about this when you get home,” and that would be the end of it. The other kids would have laughed at him, and laughed about the ass-whoopin’ he could anticipate around 6:00 PM.

The Dana who understands when things should be taken seriously (f6a568)

  41. My point is it is hypocrisy for Berkeley to wet itself over the extra judicial arm of the democratic party asserting itself, while their black and Mexican overlords are given a chair, scholarship, and life long recession proof tenure based exclusively on their coloredness.

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  42. Equal protections of the law means U.C.Berkeley needs to open the Klu Klux Klan wing in the racial equality building.

We should force them to live up to their own bull crap precedent.

  43. Greetings:

“Green Day” used to play in that neighborhood, so there’s that.

  44. Another day, another “noose/rape/homophobic beating” hoax, another 1,500 dumb student protest march, another award for the hoaxster for “drawing attention” to the imaginary problem. Wake me when something sane actually happens in modern America.

    CrustyB (69f730)

  45. Driving in from the Oakland airport, you see two street signs:

    MARTIN LUTHER KING WAY

    NUCLEAR FREE ZONE

A “Welcome to Berkeley” sign is superfluous.

Their city council one year decided they would divest from 3M and boycott their products. Then they found out the machines in the library were going to be unmaintainable. I do not remember how they solved their problem.

    Gabriel Hanna (64d4e1)

  46. @13, et seq… The Claremont looks quite grand in those photos, but the last time I was there it was showing its age. BTW, it is actually in Oakland. Yes.
