President Obama: Being A Leader Is Leading On Climate Change

Filed under: General — Dana @ 8:29 pm

[guest post by Dana]

In an interview with Steve Kroft tonight on 60 Minutes, President Obama offered his view of real leadership in response to Kroft’s insistence that Putin is directly challenging the president’s leadership:

My definition of leadership would be leading on climate change, an international accord that potentially we’ll get in Paris.

My definition of leadership is mobilizing the entire world community to make sure that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear weapon.

The first is just downright embarrassing; the second is laughable, especially considering the devastating Iran nuclear deal the president recently forced upon us.

  5. Unsurprisingly, but coincidentally considering the president’s comments tonight:

TEHRAN — Iran tested a new guided long-range ballistic missile on Sunday, hours before Parliament, in a rowdy session, approved the generalities of the nuclear agreement reached in July between Iran and world powers, the state news agency IRNA reported.

The missile launch may have violated the terms of the agreement, reached in Vienna with six world powers. According to some readings of the deal, it placed restrictions on Iran’s ambitious missile program.

But acccording to Obama, he succeeded, so of course it follows.

And Russia is not a leader, because nobody is following it, and it has to rescue its only ally (in the Middle East) Iran not being an ally.

By Jove, I think I’ve got it! With the ridiculous Iranian nuclear deal, President Obama has increased the chances of an Iranian nuclear “breakout” a few months after the deal expires, if they don’t cheat, and an Iranian nuclear weapons capability much sooner if they do. The Iranians then strike Israel, which President Obama wouldn’t mind seeing anyway, and Israel responds, and we have a nuclear winter triggered to combat global warming!

    A transformational President indeed!

President Obama’s answer to 60 Minutes’ Steve Kroft about the claim that Putin was challenging his leadership sent heads dropping to desks:

Kroft: He’s challenging your leadership, Mr. President. He’s challenging your leadership—

Obama: Well, Steve, I got to tell you, if you think that running your economy into the ground and having to send troops in in order to prop up your only ally is leadership, then we’ve got a different definition of leadership.

Actually, Obama has a different definition of leadership from anyone who has ever been a leader.

Or, alternatively, he has the same definition of leadership as everyone else who failed miserably at it.

Obama thinks leadership is falling in love with the sound of his own voice and then trying to figure out who he can blame when he comes back from vaycay and discovers everything’s fallen to s**t as speeches don’t get the job done.

Leave it to Vox to give it a standing ovation:

When you have huge numbers of single women voting Democrat, like in the 2014 CO Senate race, apparently based on commercials that their ability to obtain contraception was in jeopardy, it seems to be that they are rather easily manipulated. We saw the contraception theme in 2012 of course. It continues to float around out there.

  37. My definition of leadership would be leading on climate change, an international accord that potentially we’ll get in Paris.

At least the non-entity has some awareness of his incompetence and chooses to somnambulate through a conference on a non-problem where his utter inability to lead will be a non-issue.

My definition of leadership is mobilizing the entire world community to make sure that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear weapon.

When Prom Queen (or any other liberal, really) talks about “the entire world community” it’s best just to realize the freshman class president is talking about “my imaginary Super Friends.”

    Steve57 (d94282)

  38. http://freebeacon.com/national-security/iranian-ballistic-missile-tests-could-violate-nuke-deal/

Iran maintained that the test does not violate the nuclear deal, though U.S. experts quibbled with this analysis.

…However, Secretary of State John Kerry has stated in the past that such tests would not violate the accord. The State Department maintains that this is still its position.

Kerry informed Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) in recent correspondence obtained by the Free Beacon that a ballistic missile test would not violate the accord.

“It would not be a violation of the JCPOA [Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] if Iran tested a conventional ballistic missile,” Kerry wrote to Rubio…

Maybe on Planet Obama it would not be a violation. But here on Earth it’s important to note that the only reason to develop in intercontinental ballistic missile is to deliver a nuclear payload.

There is no such thing as a conventional ICBM.

Mark Dubowitz, executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, described the situation as a “test case” for the Obama administration.

“This is a clear violation of Annex B paragraph 3 of UNSCR 2231 (2015) and a test case for the Obama administration to make it clear to Iran that a violation of UNSCR 2231 will be considered a violation of the JCPOA despite Iranian regime protestations to the contrary,” Dubowitz said.

Iran is prohibited under this resolution from testing missiles and “any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons.”

…“If the missile launch is not a violation of the Iran deal, then it shows just how comically bad the Iran deal actually was: it’d be a nuclear deal that doesn’t stop Iran from developing missiles to deliver nuclear weapons,” said Omri Ceren, managing director at the Israel Project, an organization opposed to the terms of the final deal.

“But even if the launch doesn’t violate the agreement, it’s a blatant violation of the United Nations Security Council resolution that gave the agreement force under international law,” Ceren explained. “So either it violates the deal, or it violates the resolution that gives the deal force, and either way the Iranians are playing the Obama administration for chumps.”

But not to worry, President Miley Cyrus, leader of the freshman dorm, is on the case and has a plan:

My definition of leadership is mobilizing my imaginary Super Friends to make sure that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear weapon.

    Steve57 (d94282)

  39. The Third Book of Moses apparently missed the preceeding line, “Alas! The only test he had to pass to control our nuclear weapons was to discover that 51% of American voters are stone cold idiots.” The line concerning voting qualifications follows from that.

We have created a society in which Mitt Romney was right: the Democrat, the candidate who promises Free Stuff, automatically has 47% of the vote, and yes, that 47% is disproportionately black and female. Would you have been happier had I said only people who aren’t on welfare should be allowed to vote?

The Democrats have proven themselves to be smarter than the Republicans: the Republicans want to win elections to actually do something, while the Democrats only want to win elections. Consequently, they’ll promise any damned thing, whether there’s a chance in Hell we can pay for it or not, and they win.

The greatest sin against American society was the Sixteenth Amendment; all other evils have followed from that.

  40. History shows that societies advance and countries prosper — our society and our country in particular — when the political power is exercised by relatively young, relatively industrious men; and decline and degenerate when old men, women of any age, and the shiftless of any age or sex get a say in things. It has less to do with emotions than it has to do with physical, moral and mental capacity.
