Planned Parenthood’s Cecile Richards And Her “Heavily Edited” Truth

Filed under: General — Dana @ 7:31 pm

[guest post by Dana]

I haven’t had time to read much about Cecile Richard’s testimony before the House Oversight Committee today, but in a quick perusal of links, this caught my eye. After being asked about mammogram machines in Planned Parenthood clinics, Richards stated:

“We do not have mammogram machines at our health centers, and we’ve never stated that we did…”

And here’s Richard’s heavily edited truth from a few years ago:

In 2011, reeling from a vote in the House of Representatives that would deny any and all taxpayer funding, the Planned Parenthood abortion business turned to its non-abortion “services” to defend the need for the government dole. On February 21, Planned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards joined the talk show of pro-abortion activist Joy Behar and defended Planned Parenthood against the legislation seeking to de-fund it.

“If this bill ever becomes law, millions of women in this country are going to lose their health care access, not to abortion services, to basic family planning – you know, mammograms, cancer screenings, cervical cancer,” she said.

  2. Sorry in advance for what we’ll see in this thread. But thank you for posting this. Narrative, narrative uber alles.

  3. Hmm. Parse her 2011 statements and you will see she never actually said PP did the mammograms. She merely wanted to make people think women would not get mammograms if PP was defunded. The lie is actually the underlying claim that “millions of women” would lose access to basic services.

Geez, guys, give the woman a break. She’s got a living to make. It’s not like she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth.

  9. Cecille Richards’ heavily edited truth looks like it’s going to be enough.

If for some reason you needed additional evidence that the Republican Party was deeply incompetent, unprepared, uncoordinated, inexcusably lazy, then try watching Cecile Richards’ appearance in front of congress yesterday.

…Yet there they were, facing a CEO whose organization performs vivisections on humans and harvests baby brains, and the best they could do most of the time was alternate between slow-pitching Richards some hangers and ensuring her martyrdom.

Naturally, Democrats—who offered a stream of ludicrous assertions themselves; but who can really blame them for doing their job?—immediately unsheathed the War on Women canard, accusing the GOP of engaging in “misogyny” for asking Richards questions. Carolyn Maloney declared, “The entire time I’ve been in Congress, I’ve never seen a witness beaten up and questioned on their salary,” even though Maloney was there when CEOs—people who don’t subsist on taxpayer funding—were grilled far worse.

Not that any Republican called her out on it. Republicans, in fact, had no answer for this line of attack other than some tepid protestation…

This is something I’ve been pointing out for years. The Democrats have been using the same attacks on Republicans for years. And every time the tediously predictable happens the GOP is caught off guard. Or acts like it.

After a couple of decades of the same old same old I would at least have a communications strategy. Like, to counter the War on Women attack. But the GOP never does.

Are they really this stupid? No, they just don’t believe a word of what they say when they’re campaigning. They’re not going to defund PP because they don’t want to. As Ted Cruz said, if this crowd can’t make the case for passing a CR or a budget that funds everything except a private Democratic party special interest group that does nothing of value while it butchers babies then we have the wrong sales team in DC.

We don’t; just like at the Iranian nuclear negotiations we have no one on our side of the issue.

McConnell and Boehner (as his last act) will give Obama everything he wants and they’ll later claim their hands were tied. When a blind man can see they had several ways of fighting him. They just didn’t want to.

…The first step to not sucking this bad is acting like you do care, even if we all know you’re just engaged in theater.

  10. Another Lying Liberal Socialist Democrat that lives off the Government and needs her abortion fix. In my opinion, she is going straight to Hell.

  11. PP rakes in millions in private donations every year, they don’t need a government subsidy. And I don’t want my taxes to pay for institutionalized murder.

  12. PCD,

The great thing is, all these Liberal busybodies will be condemned,to the same place the people they pestered in life go to, but their former victems will be able to ignore them. Hell for the busybodies. Heaven for everyone else.
