Fun Stuff on a Sunday Morning: President Trump Addresses the Nation

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:09 pm

Bring the death penalty to Norway!

We’re a bunch of fools, and we’re being led by a fool. Let’s see if we can do it again!

And to cleanse the palate, here is a fun cover of an old Northern Pikes song, performed by a pal of Jay Semko’s named Ray Whitton. Love his voice. Jay sings on this track too. I got Whitton’s album on iTunes this morning. His original stuff is worth checking out.

  4. Yes, in 2013. Still, a good reminder of the type of guy he is.

  5. We already know what kind of a guy he is. What he isn’t is running on the democrat ticket.

  6. Enjoyed the tune a couple times.
    thanks.

  7. Another thing Trump is is he’s the guy that has Republican candidates talking about issues they wouldn’t have touched with a ten foot pole if Trump weren’t blathering about them. He’s the guy who is causing the thumb screws to turn on the GOP and force them to listen to their constituency for a change.

    So yeah, he’s annoying, boorish and a bully. So what? He won’t win anyhow but he’s shaking up the troops. And the troops need shakin’.

  8. Off Topic: The super moon eclipse has started on the East Coast. We have clear skies in Seattle, but I’m not sure how much of the eclipse we’ll see by the time the moon rises here (7 PM PDT). Hope you Chicago types and Doc in Philly have a good view!

  9. Have heart, Bob. I’ve noticed unless it’s a full blown storm, in overcast or even partly cloudy conditions, during the event the sky will clear. It’s probably a gravitational effect.

  10. Post debate polls. By this time we usually see quite a few, but beside the one immediately afterwards, where it showed Fiorina getting a bump, we haven’t seen many poll results after this debate.

    How to explain the absence, the dearth of poll coverage since?

    All signs lead to Trump.

    Saw an interesting question the other day. After Walker and Perry, who will be the next candidate to drop out of the race?

    Maybe we can make a game of it. Place wagers and the like.

  11. The Cruz campaign sent me a panicked email asking for a donation. Kind of had a tone. Like the wikipedia people trying to meet a goal, with the cash thermometer on the side.

    I can’t see Cruz dropping out, but that email was worrisome.

    Pataki – I’ll go with Pataki to fall out next.

    The entire situation surrounding Trump, but also extending far beyond him alone, is a sad, desperate reflection on the state of this nation and the Western World in general in 2015.

    The contemptible, corrupt liberalism of Obama on one hand and the large band of business-as-usual, Boehner-lite Republicans on the other, combined with so much ideological ambivalence (or squish-squish) among too much of the populace overall (perfectly illustrated by the US military’s own form of absurd political correctness in their being enablers to Nidal Hasan and shrugging off males affiliated with the military strutting around in women’s high heels on college campuses to demonstrate solidarity with feminism), means that nothing should be taken for granted, nothing should be treated as unexpected, nothing should be seen as beyond the pale in the 21st century.

    We made out bed, and now we have to lie in it.

  13. papertiger,

    You need to use that Google thing more. Plenty of polls the last week or so, all show Fiorina and Rubio with bumps, and both Trump and Carson leading, but down.

  14. Trump’s negatives are pushing 60%. Actually worse than Hillary’s by a bit.

    Carson has the highest net favorability rating of leading contenders,
    48 – 16 percent, with Biden at 50 – 34 percent.

    Favorability ratings for other candidates are:

    Negative 41 – 55 percent for Clinton;
    Negative 37 – 44 percent for Bush;
    Negative 36 – 57 percent for Trump;
    Positive 35 – 28 percent for Sanders;
    Positive 39 – 21 percent for Fiorina.

  15. Two Trumpeters are killed in an accident. They find themselves before God and tell Him, “We are but humble men, and for all our life we have sought the truth. You are all-knowing, so You know all the answers.”

    “What is your question?”

    “We would like to know who was really behind 9/11”.

    “Osama bin Laden and the Al Qaeda as a part of a plot to destabilize the United States.”

    “Oh my,” whispers the first one to the other. “This goes even deeper than we thought.”
