White House To Legal Immigrants: Hurry Up And Become Citizens So You Can Vote Democrat In The Presidential Election!

Filed under: General — Dana @ 8:09 pm

[guest post by Dana]

In a cynical and calculated move, the White House is pushing to get as many legal immigrants as possible to become citizens before the next presidential election takes place:

White House officials announced the start of a nationwide campaign on Thursday to encourage legal immigrants to become American citizens, which could add millions of voters to the electorate in time for the presidential election next year.

With about 8.8 million legal residents in the country who are eligible to become citizens, White House officials said they were trying to make it easier to complete the final steps to citizenship.

The government will be taking extra steps to aid applicants, including prep classes and practice tests taken on cell phones.

In spite of the the White House claiming it chose this week to launch the campaign because today is Citizenship Day, and claiming that the campaign is strictly non-partisan, there is this:

[T]he White House is also aware of federal figures showing that about 60 percent of immigrants eligible to naturalize are Latino and about 20 percent are Asian, both groups that voted overwhelmingly for President Obama. Nearly a third of legal permanent residents eligible to naturalize are Mexican.

The campaign, which includes a blitz of television ads with a welcoming message for immigrants, gives Mr. Obama a chance to set up a contrast with Republicans vying to succeed him. In the Republican debate on Wednesday night, Donald J. Trump, the real estate magnate who has been leading the polls among the Republican candidates, returned to his hard-line proposals that include building a wall along the length of the southern border.

Advocacy groups supporting the citizenship drive have been alarmed by the tough tone of the Republican campaign and are thus capitalizing on the resulting fear and anger:

“People are hearing the hate and racist xenophobia on the national stage from the presidential candidates. They are angry, and this is an opportunity for us to organize.”

  1. Hello.

  2. Didn’t they do a similar thing in 1995.

  3. I don’t believe any GOP candidate is against legal immigrants becoming citizens. BUt I don’t listen to Trump a lot so I could be wrong about that.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  4. Yes, narciso, they did. It was called Citizenship USA, and INS had to eat a lot of crow back then because of the way it rushed people, some of whom were ineligible and/or had ties to terrorism, through the naturalization process.

  5. You are right, Dana. Don’t believe the claims of non-partisanship. The fact is that it is no skin off anybody’s nose if green card holders do not become U.S. citizens. They can live, work, and retire in the U.S., paying the same taxes as everybody else, without becoming citizens. In fact, there is a benefit to the country when green card holders remain green card holders. It makes for better behavior, because if a green card holder commits a serious crime, they can be deported (in theory–results may vary depending on who the President is).

  8. Kevin M @ 3,

Your not supposed to bring that up. Legal/illegal, it’s all the same and the Republican’s hate it all. That’s the message going out – by both the administration and the NYT. And clearly, its intended audience is buying the whole package.

    Dana (86e864)

  9. Obama is spending tax payer dollars to do this. And whether it actually adds Demo voters or not, it still is a way to paint the other guys as mean and not to mention hurting dreamers.

    AZ Bob (34bb80)

  10. Yep. It’s a surreptitious way for Democrats to campaign using public funds. We’re paying for TV commercials to entice would-be Democrats to become U.S. citizens.

  11. Boston marathon bombers were legal immigrants. I can’t figure what special skill set they offered the country.

The Fort Hood shooter was a legal immigrant. He specialized in Muslim studies.

  12. Advocacy groups supporting the citizenship drive have been alarmed by the tough tone of the Republican campaign and are thus capitalizing on the resulting fear and anger:

I don’t want to keep piling on Rubio and the Gang of Eight bill (at least not to spill over onto another thread) but the Democrats will always put Democratic advocacy groups in charge of organizing everything to do with immigrants and illegal aliens.

R.E. the Gang of Eight bill:

    http://betsymccaughey.com/immigration-reform-becomes-a-welfare-welcome-wagon/

The nation’s dysfunctional immigration laws need reforming. But the Senate bill unveiled last week would explode the number of people on food stamps and ObamaCare.

Shockingly, the bill also would put left-wing community organizations in charge of educating immigrants about citizenship – a blatant attempt to herd future voters into the Democratic Party.

…And don’t play us for fools. Sections 2106, 2534, 2535 and 2536 put community organizations in charge of educating immigrants about citizenship and American principles. Indoctrination on the merits of a welfare state is more like it.

This has been going on since 2009 on a smaller scale. Past grant recipients included One America , a Seattle group that agitates for LGBT and immigrant rights, and Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights, which claims to “build political power through citizenship drives and voter registration.”

Congress should reject this shameful hijacking of citizenship preparation for partisan purposes.

Apparently the Democrats wrote and Obama signed into law that Democratic activist groups are paid with no doubt mostly conservative voter’s money to politically indoctrinate immigrants about citizenship.

They defund their opposition by this wealth transfer of tax dollars to activist groups and public employee unions on the one hand, and then illegally deny conservative groups tax exempt status on the other.

I hate the GOP even more now. They couldn’t do anything about this? They can’t now? They can’t even hold hearings on the criminality of the Democrats?

Of course not and we all know why. Conservative voters are Boehner’s and McConnell’s enemies, too.

    Steve57 (506e39)

  13. Did your candidate take a position regarding the Democrat’s semi annual election year rush to impart the franchise upon green card holders?

I bet you have to stretch your google skills to the limit finding the parsimonious, mealy mouthed if they did.

Looking for it will cause eye strain.

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  14. Legal/illegal, it’s all the same and the Republican’s hate it all.

To be fair, the GOP isn’t contesting it, and there’s a segment of the anti-illegal faction that is just fine with stopping legal immigration, too. Any candidate that talks about legal immigration had better not misspeak, lest he be called on amnesty.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  15. The problem is that we can’t decide what we want in legal prospective citizens. Currently we seem to aim for dependents — family members, often elderly, of current legal residents. One could go the well-trained route, but that brings competition to well-trained Americans (see the H-1B visa program). Once could bring in semi-skilled people (masses yearning to breathe free), but that wreaks havoc on American construction workers and such. You could just bring in tomato-pickers, but that’s really kinda racist.

Teddy Kennedy set it to so that we’d be awash in welfare cases and the unions could control the labor markets. Which are naturally going to vote Dem.

  19. There is no need to expedite citizenship for eligible legal residents. They are free to apply when they wish.

But it all boils down to electing a President who does not accept the essential premises of America or respect our Constitution. There is just no easy fix for doing that, especially not when we do it twice.

  21. Atencion!

Since today is National Cheeseburger Day the US Supreme Court on an 8 to 1 (Muy Bueno) decision has recently and quietly reaffirmed President Obama’s constitutional right to grant US citizenship to all undocumented human beings who demonstrate patriotic loyalty to America’s favorite sandwich, and who unfailingly have voted Democrat in the last 2 national elections.

Stroke of his pen – Law of the Land! Is this a great country, or what?

But wait! There’s more. Contribute $25 to the Democrat National Election Committee and purchase 2 cheeseburgers, supersize fries, and the beverage of your choice from the regular menu and get priority processing* – 48 hours or less, guaranteed or the price of your cheesy ticket to the American Dream of economic prosperity through political treachery and presumptive entitlements (unfortunately often called Freeloading Off American Taxpayers, or Hitting the Gringo Lotto) such as Welfare, Food Stamps, Free Rent, Free Utilities, Free Cell Phones, and 2 El Grande Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free Cards good for the 2 felonies or 6 misdemeanors of your choice (not including DUIs while transporting illegal substances exceeding 100 kilos) and as an added bonus your very own Driver’s License bearing a color picture of Vicente Fernandez or Selena Gomez.

Must be registered to vote in at least 3 states to participate! No Exceptions!

*Simply include the cheeseburger receipt with your check or money order made out to the DNEC c/o The Barack Obama Perpetual Golf and Vacation Fund LLC, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC 20006.

**Be sure to include the street names and PO box addresses of any friends or family members who might want to become American citizens in time to vote in the next election. (Chinga La Migra!) Hurry, time is limited and late requests are not guaranteed acceptance no matter how many cheeseburgers they buy unless each name received comes with a $50 donation and the promise to tell-a-friend so we can get some word-of-mouth advertising.

Remember, this offer expires on Tuesday, November 1, 2015 or 48 hours before the next national election. So Hurry up Amigos (or shall we call you “Almost Documented Nieces and Nephews of Uncle Sugar?” Bienvenidos, Mi Casa Es Tu Casa!!

Kevin M, the NYT clearly is slyly, but clearly, inferring hat the GOP candidates view illegal/legal immigration through the same lens. And that isn’t so. Not if you actually listen to the candidates speak on the issue. I’ve listened to an awful lot of them talk an awful lot about immigration, and while all are against illegal immigration, I have not heard any of them say that they want to also see an end to legal immigration. To the contrary.

The NYT presents the article as if all the candidates are equally against illegal and illegal immigration. Also the advocacy group leader quoted at the end of the article (which the NYT was also only to happy to include without any clarification between the two groups), believes likewise.

They are, as is typical, a willing conduit to further the president’s manipulative messaging.

    Dana (86e864)

  23. Be prepared for an Executive Order to be issued stating that all green card holders are now automagically US citizens

    PeterK (1c1d04)

  24. Kevin M, the NYT clearly is slyly, but clearly, inferring hat the GOP candidates view illegal/legal immigration through the same lens.

You may think it sly or clever but I see it as standard operating procedure. They always muddy the waters when they know they are wrong or on the wrong side (which is always). For example conflating “women’s health issues” with Planned Parenthood being funded to perform abortions. If defunding abortion ends women’s health issues how come there are over 6,000 clinics and doctors across the country who manage to provide these services without abortion or the funding? So suddenly abortion became a women’s health issue to the media. When they argued for Obamacare they conflated “health care” with “health insurance”. Think about the junk science they push about AGW. They are selling nonsense and use billions of gallons of jet fuel to sell it. They are still getting away with that lie. The left and their media operatives do this constantly. This and the assorted lies that go with this type of programming/propaganda is then perpetuated in TV shows, moves and the ever present “education” establishment.

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27)

  25. You’re right, Hoagie. Standard operating procedure: The smug NYT thinks they are being sly …when we all know better. We’ve definitely seen this act before. It’s their default position on any number of issues.

    Dana (86e864)

  26. They want to frame this as “what are you going to do to illegal immigrant parents with kids, are you going to put ’em all on buses and send them back to where they came from?”

It’s really a case of “what are you going to do to help Americans make their own lives better and help rebuild a prosperous United States of America?”

Politicians must act always in America’s best interests and stop this nonsense. Those that don’t should be considered traitors and dealt with accordingly.

    Colonel Haiku (436b69)

  27. As another example of nefarious naming consider the monumental deceit employed in the faithless identification of an open and public effort to defund Planned Parenthood’s depraved butchery as an attempt to shut down the government – as if the threat of a shut down was anything other than mercenary blackmail to keep PP’s bloody abattoirs open for the dirty business of slaughtering infants for profit.

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27)

  31. if they all get food stamps in a timely manner the multiplier effects will ensure an economic boom to where senile grandma printypants at the fed will raise rates up up up and savers will be wow look at all the interest i’m getting and then they’ll stop having so damn many abortions and lose weight cause there won’t be so many food deserts

    happyfeet (a037ad)

  32. Make no mistake about it, the illegal immigration debate has nothing to do with “dreamers”, or “love”, or refugees, or persecution, or even poverty and hunger. If it did they’d be advocating the immigration of Christians from both the Middle East and Africa. No, it has only to do with replacing the millions of black democrat voters sacrificed on the alter of abortion for the last 45 years. Millions and millions of black American babies have been slaughtered, and we paid for it in Planned Parenthood clinics and now the cold blooded leftists need them some new “people of color” (man, I hate that racist term!) to make up for the loss both in voters and in government programs. If we do not reverse not just stop, reverse, the illegal problem the leftists will secure a permanent majority and the Republic is lost. It may already be too late with the 47% (poor Romney) already living on the welfare state all the left needs is their loyal unions and die-hard commies and it’s a win.

The problem I have with democrat hegemony is we become a one party nation. That’s not a Free Republic, it’s a dictatorship of the majority or worse. For example, The Soviet Union was a one party state as is Cuba and N. Korea. It seems in history when there’s one party rule things don’t do too good on the Liberty side.

    Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27)

The 14th amendment applies to everybody in the USA, not just former slaves. That is absolutely settled law. And everybody in the USA — except foreign diplomats, military officers, etc., and their families — is subject to US jurisdiction. They can be sued in US courts and arrested by US policemen.

    Milhouse (a04cc3)

  49. What illegal act did the children perform? There is no law against being born. And the 14th amendment says they’re citizens by right, not by grant.

Since the children are minors they are under the same jurisdiction as their parents, and that ain’t American. Whatever country the parents are from has jurisdiction over the kids. And being sued in US courts and arrested by US policemen does not make one an American. By your definition almost anyone who sets foot in the US is a citizen. And the 14th amendment says no such thing and you know it. It was never intended to confer citizenship on lawbreakers or their offspring. As a matter of fact, I don’t believe there was ay such thing as an illegal alien at the time the 14th amendment was written or ratified so it couldn’t pertain to that which did not exist.

And in this insidious country there is a law against being born. If your mother decides to have you ripped out of her womb, chopped apart and sold to the highest bidder you have no right to be born. It’s the law.
