Shorter White House: Too Bad That Young Woman In San Francisco Had To Die Because Republicans Wouldn’t Support Bipartisan Immigration Bill
[guest post by Dana]
Just days after Kathryn Steinle was killed by an illegal alien in San Francisco, Josh Earnest defended White House immigration policies , and shamefully faulted Republicans:
When asked if the case was a failure of the administration’s enforcement policies, White House press secretary Josh Earnest chided Republicans for blocking a bipartisan immigration bill that would have boosted funding for border security.
“I recognize that people want to play politics with this,” Earnest said. “The fact is the president has done everything within his power to make sure that we’re focusing our law enforcement resources on criminals and those who pose a threat to public safety.”
Further:
The spokesman refused to comment on the details of the case, but he pointed to Obama’s executive actions on immigration launched last fall, which instructed the Department of Homeland Security to prioritize the deportation of people who are considered “public safety threats.”
“We have started to make changes in terms of structuring and staffing … to ensure that our law enforcement efforts are focused on felons and not on families,” he said. “These efforts would be significantly augmented had Republicans not blocked common-sense immigration reform.”
Also, San Francisco Mayor Edwin expressed “concern” about the release of confessed killer Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, who had multiple felony convictions and had been deported to Mexico five times, but still supported the city’s “sanctuary city” policy:
San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee said Monday he was “concerned” about the release of an illegal immigrant with a criminal record who killed a woman last week but defended the sanctuary city policy.
“I am concerned about the circumstances that led to the release of Mr. Sanchez,” Mr. Lee said in a statement. “All agencies involved, Federal and local, need to conduct quick, thorough and objective reviews of their own departmental policies and the decisions they made in this case.”
He stressed that the sanctuary city policy is intended to protect “residents regardless of immigration status and is not intended to protect repeat, serious and violent felons.”
“Our city’s policy helps immigrant and limited-English speaking communities where sometimes people fear and mistrust the criminal justice system,” Mr. Lee said. “We want people to report crimes, we want children of undocumented immigrants to attend school, and we want families to get access to much needed social services without fear of their city government reporting them to Federal authorities.”
From Judicial Watch (2014):
[T]he Obama administration freed tens of thousands of illegal immigrants convicted of violent and serious crimes last year, according to the government’s own records.
The crimes committed by illegal aliens released from federal custody include homicide, sexual assault, theft, kidnapping and alcohol-related driving convictions. In all, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) freed 36,007 aliens convicted of 88,000 crimes from detention centers throughout the United States, according the breathtaking agency records, which were obtained this month by a nonpartisan research center dedicated to studying immigration issues.

did the press pool laugh when Earnest said that last paragraph?
seeRpea (0cf003) — 7/7/2015 @ 9:16 amDoes Earnest believe what he says?
Lets not absolve ICE of blame in these situations, the ICE people knew what was going to happen when they handed him to SF officials. BTW: why is SF legally allowed to be a ‘sanctuary city’ – isn’t this a case of local entity creating own foreign policy?
re #3: ghirardelli – vastly overrated.
seeRpea (0cf003) — 7/7/2015 @ 9:17 amyes yes but when you eat chockit it helps cover up the pee smell
happyfeet (831175) — 7/7/2015 @ 9:18 amRead that Milhouse. Then read it again. Then tell me why you are in denial of the true state of illegal immigration. Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27) — 7/7/2015 @ 9:24 amCompare and contrast this shooting with that of Trayvon Martin. Rush just pointed out that her name will never be as well known as his.
AZ Bob (7d2a2c) — 7/7/2015 @ 9:43 amIt’s all about priorities. What we are seeing is the result of actions taken by public officials, and all the rhetoric and gamesmanship won’t change that fact. We have a government that funds itself with fines levied on honest citizens, seizures of property based on nothing more than some query of a database or some cash in wallet, and grants from the Federals, and they need to focus their “enforcement” on those who can pay, not on those who simply drain the bucket. Check this out for one Michigan county’s thirst for revenue: Woman arrested and detained for delayed renewal of dog license. Next, think hard about Mark Steyn’s take on the rerouting of an Independence Day parade. For those of you who graduated from a government high school in the last two decades, Independence Day falls on the 4th of July.
We have lost control of our government. We have accepted tyranny. Murders by illegals are a direct consequence of our lack of attention to the priorities of our governing elite. As long as we pay $10 for dog licenses promptly, and all the rest of the fines and fees, our masters will leave us alone. I’ve said before that even our local government is shackled by compliance with Federal regulations, and this has led to incompetent governance. Just read the excuse raised by the fellow who cancelled the parade in Vermont if you want a perfect example of how emasculated our local governments have become.
bobathome (f50725) — 7/7/2015 @ 9:45 am@4 Dana,
They don’t need all of us to believe their “It’s the Republican’s fault” swill, they only need enough of us to…and more than enough do.
MJN1957 (6f981a) — 7/7/2015 @ 9:45 amThey all said the same shit when the Bologna family was murdered by an illegal alien who should have already been deported. New day, same script. No accountability. Blaming the GOP is as credible as this murderer blaming the gun for accidentally discharging (three times) while he was shooting at “sea lions”.

ropelight (c9e1a6) — 7/7/2015 @ 10:06 am#11: MJN, but we don’t need to believe that it is hopeless. Our purpose should be to change public opinion. Simply resigning ourselves to rule by demagogues is not the solution.
If everyone who voted for Romney would donate just $10 to the ultimate “winner” of the Republican primaries, the candidate would have enough to contest the media wars even in places like NYC and LA/SF. Instead we drop our heads and think it is impossible.
And it isn’t just “us”. The candidates themselves appear to be running traditional campaigns with all the usual foolishness. Someone gives them $500, and a good portion of that money is spent trying to get the donor to give another $500. Why not reach out and get a 100 people to help with yard signs and then ask each to give $5? Or have them do something on twitter or facebook. I personally don’t use these forms of media, but they are tracked by the media, and a ground swell would be noticed.
bobathome (f50725) — 7/7/2015 @ 10:07 amThe always cowardly Republicans will just take the blame.

happyfeet (831175) — 7/7/2015 @ 10:16 amIn this particular case MJN, perhaps enough of the right people noticed that they are lying and it’s nowhere near the Republican’s fault. Maybe people are noticing the rampage of murder, assault and property damage coming from bastions of leftism like Chicago and Baltimore. Maybe if the conservative press (whatever that may be) would post a daily list of crimes committed by illegals, committed by blacks on blacks, committed in cities run by leftist Democrats more middle-of-the-roader’s would see who’s fault things really are. Plus they could list all the government programs each offender is on just to show where our money is going….to support those who murder and rape our own families. We are literally paying these politicians to take our tax money and pay it to people who are killing us! That is insanity!
Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27) — 7/7/2015 @ 10:20 amNotice to all undocumented immigrants to the US (Aztlan): Arrest and conviction for murder, rape, narcotics, or hit and run could result in *deportation and possible loss of welfare, food stamps, and Obama phones. However, if your voter registration is up to date and records prove you (or your designated proxy) voted in the 2 (dos) most recent elections, you will receive a free round-trip ticket at the time of deportation, and your entitlement payments will be collected, along with accrued interest, and held in safe keeping till after you vote in the next election, or upon your release from parole.
ropelight (c9e1a6) — 7/7/2015 @ 10:30 amEven with a policy of removing aliens that are “Threats to Public Safety”, does the White House not realize that that policy is allowing illegal immigrants to commit 1 serious crime?
Dejectedhead (ba8561) — 7/7/2015 @ 10:40 amWhen you don’t enforce the laws, you get lawlessness? Who’da thunk it?
navyvet (c33501) — 7/7/2015 @ 11:14 am“Our city’s policy helps immigrant and limited-English speaking communities where sometimes people fear and mistrust the criminal justice system,” Mr. Lee said. “We want people to report crimes, we want children of undocumented immigrants to attend school, and we want families to get access to much needed social services without fear of their city government reporting them to Federal authorities.”
This is such bullstuff from the San Francisco mayor. Ever since Prop 187 was thrown out by the courts there has been no chance — zero, none, nada, zilch — that an illegal immigrant child attending school or an illegal immigrant family visiting an emergency room would result in a deportation. And the same politicians who are now “concerned” about how local law enforcement is working with the feds to handle violent and dangerous criminals are the ones who were preening about how they made sure that the illegal immigrant busted with a drunk & disorderly or for operating a vehicle without a license or selling food without the proper permits would be spared the indignity of being deported. All along their attitude has been “we’ll wait until they do something really horrible before we react” which has now come to bite them in the rear. It’s the broken windows theory for illegal immigrants. The more you learn to accept a certain level of lawless among that crowd without enforcing the laws as written, the more likely you are to have major violations from that same cohort.
JVW (5ed0e9) — 7/7/2015 @ 12:07 pmJosh Earnest is a smug lying prlck. I don’t know how he looks at himself in the mirror without spitting.
JD (d90a16) — 7/7/2015 @ 12:12 pmWell, Mr. Lee, we the taxpayers don’t. We want clowns like you out of office and we want the people who agree with you to pay the bill for those “undocumented” illegal b^stards to attend school and all the social services those thieves steal from us. You pay for it! Have your followers pay for it! Then let’s see just how many followers you have.
Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27) — 7/7/2015 @ 12:30 pmThese leftists get away with stealing our hard earned money and as if it’s not bad enough they believe they have the right to redistribute it to other people in the name of some stupid victim cult, they also believe they have a right to redistribute it to foreigners, not even Americans, who are here illegally. The nerve of these lying thieves! Now stealing our money just isn’t good enough. Now Americans like Ms. Steinle have to pay in blood with their lives for the lies of the filthy politics of the left. #AmericanLivesMatter!!!
Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27) — 7/7/2015 @ 12:37 pmThe murder in Texas of a wife was confessed to by her illegal immigrant husband who had been deported on four previous occasions.
Sadly, the Laredo police knew about domestic abuse issues and knew the family, however they never contacted Border Patrol about the man:
But there is a bigger problem, and that is one of who is being protected by current policies and who is being endangered by them.
According to Laredo Police Department Spokesman Joe Baeza:

Kathryn Steinle was a small price to pay for Obama to fundamentally transform America.
Steve57 (4c9797) — 7/7/2015 @ 1:01 pmSteve57, we all know Ms. Steinle is the tip of the iceberg. We need some organization to report these atrocities on a daily and or weekly basis. List the killed and maimed by illegals involved in DUI’s. List the murders, rapes, abductions, child abuse by illegals. List the robberies, burglaries and other thefts and their dollar amount. Then tally up what is stolen from us tax payers for their education, health care, food, housing, transportation, police etc. Bang it into to brain of every American how illegal immigrants are killing our country and literally killing our families, friends and neighbors. Name the politicians, sue them, prosecute them, drive them out of office.
Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27) — 7/7/2015 @ 1:13 pmFrom Breitbart via Drudge. Keep the slaughter of the American innocents going. #AmericanLivesMatter!
Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27) — 7/7/2015 @ 1:18 pmJosh is right her blood is on republican hands. San francisco would not have to protect undocumented women and children as a sanctuary city if immigration bill had been passed. The biggest complaint democrats have is they vote for democrats to make republicans illegal outlaws and the democrat politicians won’t do it!

Of course it doesn’t represent you, or me. So why do you assume it represents anybody but its own members? Does the KKK (whatever’s left of it) represent anyone? Does the Speedway Bomber and his gang? So why do you think La Raza speaks for hundreds of thousands of people, of all nationalities, most of whom have never even heard of it?

What’s interesting is one of the two co-founders is a Latina from Houston, Maria Espinoza.
As I said on another thread, Hispanics don’t necessarily like illegal immigration, and criminal illegal immigrants, any more than any other Americans. They don’t have any more affinity to a criminal illegal alien just because they have the same national origin or speak Spanish then I would to some skinhead who is trying to break in to rob my house.
Steve57 (4c9797) — 7/7/2015 @ 2:28 pmKeep the American blood flowing. Cause illegals are here to be free, and and Dreamers, and and The Children, and and jobs Americans don’t want to do, and and …… #AmericanLivesMatter.
Rev. Barack Hussein Hoagie (f4eb27) — 7/7/2015 @ 2:58 pm“why is SF legally allowed to be a ‘sanctuary city’ – isn’t this a case of local entity creating own foreign policy?”
Simple; to date, no conservative city (if there is such a thing) has tried. The Liberals love it because it allows them to declare their little enclaves “nuclear free zones” without actually risking anything.
If I were a relative of the slain girl, I would be suing the city of San Fran (in addition to every other Liberal Twit in the chain opt idiocy that had that creep wandering around). Even if I lost, it would make a bunch of politicians have to stand up and flat out say in public that they wouldn’t be held responsible for the downside of their grandstanding.
And the people I feel sorriest for are the Hispanics – both legal and illegal. Because neither side of the public debate (mutual harangue would be more accurate) on immigration is willing to look at the underlying cause of the mess, they (the hispanics) are stuck in a legally grey subculture full of this kind of swine, and they can’t very well complain because to many of The Interests clearly would want to shut them up.
The underlying problem, BTW, is decades of Politicians who vote for “tough” immigration laws while simultaneously making sure there’s no money for enforcement, or for higher minimum wages while they know the illegals will take up the slack, or similar acts of two-faced fraud.
In both Parties, damn them all.
We need to do something, but I don’t know what. Open borders would be a disaster. Closing the borders would cost a flipping fortune, and probably not work. Amnesty is a grandstand play that doesn’t change the issues.
All I can come up with are ideas that the Liberal Intellectual Radical Progressive establishment would HATE.
• Eliminate the minimum wage, so that there’s a level playing field.
• Severely constrain unions; they had their place in history, but they have pretty much degenerated into criminal enterprises.
• Require iron clad voter I.D. at the polls, and some kind of verification for mail-in ballots. (Can you imagine the stink the LIRPs would raise over that alone?)
• Seriously consider the conquest of Mexico; the place is a mass. It has been a mess essentially forever, but now it’s leaking across our Southern border. With a little military intervention, and some social engineering buttinskiism, we could make it nor much worse than Newark, which would be an improvement.
And if any candidate of any party whatsoever proposed any one of those, the LIRP establishment would have a cow, breach presentation, on national TV.
C. S. P. Schofield (a196fd) — 7/7/2015 @ 3:00 pmThis is not a problem for leftists, democrats or Perry. Only a problem for the folks who currently have a knife to their throat while an illegal rapes his daughter. The Left’s LIV base doesn’t know (and mostly doesn’t care) that they’re being fed lies. The more outrageous the lies, the better for maintaining the “feel-goods” of The Narrative (eg, those Evil Right-Wingers are racist, greedy, nativist, heartless, … and so forth).
The LIVs then can congratulate themselves for being on the “right side of history” in destroying the “false consciousness” of Western Civilization (a distasteful artifact of those Dead White European Christian Males, you know. * Build the fence, and enforce it; anyone seen climbing it should be shot on sight.
* Make visas available to anyone with no criminal record, no easily communicable diseases, and willing to deposit the cost of a ticket back home, to be refunded when they leave, or if they manage to stay 10 years without needing deporting.
* People with these visas are ineligible for any kind of government assistance, apart from what’s necessary for public health.
* That includes payments in respect of their American-born children; the children are citizens, of course, but the parents are not eligible to assistance for them.
* Repeal the minimum wage.
* If they commit a crime they get deported and can’t come back.
* If they find they’re unable to support themselves they can claim their return ticket and leave.
* They can’t be naturalized until they can show that they’ve been supporting themselves and paying income tax for five years.
