Juan Williams Incredulous That Blacks Want Their Votes Protected Just Like White People

Filed under: General — Dana @ 7:43 am

[guest post by Dana]

Even most black Americans — people who, overwhelmingly, don’t vote Republican — currently favor new requirements for voters to have photo identification. Three-quarters of all voters — people of all races and political parties — favor such laws, according to polls.

The black support for photo identification of voters can only be described as amazing. For most of the twentieth century, violence, poll taxes and literacy tests were used by segregationists to deny black people the right to vote….

It’s a shock to Williams that black people not only want to see their votes protected, but are capable and willing to secure a photo identification to ensure that protection.

Houston black woman EPIC rant about unaccompanied illegals: “Why can’t they go back?”

    These people can be reached.

    They are people.

    They can be reached.

I’ve walked door to door in Eddie Bernice Jonhnson’s district, trying to get her thrown out of office. I’ve camped out (per the law, respecting distances, etc.) at polling stations working for the Broden campaign.

Maybe the reason I haven’t been killed is because I showed up. Also most of the people are nice. I probably should have listed that first. They don’t trust me, for the most part. They think I must have some sort of racist angle in the dangle. But every once in a while I make a dent. The Democrats don’t mean you well. They can do s*** like this to you because they think you have no place to go. And as long as you depend on them, you don’t. And you’re better than that.

Yes, considering that they need a photo ID to accomplish pretty much EVERYTHING ELSE in our society except mere existence (not including the things required to SUSTAIN that existence, mind you), this is so much “extra” work to accomplish for the exercise of franchise, innit?

rand paul says these black people that want these voter identification rules are racist

Got a CITE for that? Not taking your word that Paul is that big of an idiot. Capital L libertarians CAN be remarkably stupid, but I’m never presuming that.

  5. Anyone who believes it is racist in any way to demand ID proving a person voting in an American election is a qualified American is an idiot and himself should be banned from voting because of diminished capacity. And anyone who won’t demand an honest vote and an honest count of the vote is a thieving liar hiding a fraud or they would welcome transparency.

Doris “Dorie” Miller (October 12, 1919 – November 24, 1943) was a Messman Third Class in the United States Navy noted for his bravery during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. He was the first African American to be awarded the Navy Cross, the third highest honor awarded by the U.S. Navy at the time, after the Medal of Honor and the Navy Distinguished Service Medal. The Navy Cross now precedes the Navy Distinguished Service Medal.[2] Miller’s acts were heavily publicized in the black press, making him the iconic emblem of the war for blacks—their “Number One Hero”—thereby energizing black support for the war effort against a colored Japanese enemy.[3] Nearly two years after Pearl Harbor, he was killed in action when USS Liscome Bay was sunk by a Japanese submarine during the Battle of Makin.

A five inch shell projectile weighs close to 60 pounds. And when it counted, in WWII, no gun captain cared if the man who could keep up the pace was black or white. 10 to 12 rounds a minute. Ok, maybe some cared. But they weren’t gun captain for long. The ship was worth too much.

…In confined waters the Kiwi’s commander, Lieutenant-Commander Gordon Brisdon, decided to get in close to negate some of the sub’s advantages. But that meant braving a hail of fire from light-calibre weapons. Japanese machine-guns bullets sprayed the Kiwi, mortally wounding Acting Leading Signalman C.H. Buchanan. In pain and bleeding, he remained at his post, lighting up the sub for the gunners with his searchlight.

With a graunching sound, the Kiwi rammed the I-1 right behind the conning tower. Locked together, the vessels continued to blaze away at each other with light weapons. Twice more Brisdon pulled his ship away from the huge submarine only to ram it again, badly damaging his opponent and crumpling his own bows. When Kiwi’s main gun overheated, Moa took over, chasing the submarine until it ran aground on a reef…

While KIWI was locked on the I boat’s back, she couldn’t lower her guns to fire at her. The crew fought with wrenches.

She was assisted by Moa, later lost at Tulagi.

  13. I worked for a number of years for a Black owned business. I was one of only two white employees. One of my co-workers, a Black man about my age, made a project of me. His project was to convince me that at their cores, Black and White cultures were identical, or very close to it. He made several convincing arguments involving faith, family, food, and sports. To rib me, he liked to point out that he was more American than I was because he could trace his ancestry to pre-revolutionary America.

The Black community is full of church-going “values voters.” Moreover, who would know better about the failures of Progressive programs than Black families who have experienced them first hand. It makes absolutely no sense that the Republican Party isn’t fighting tooth-and-nail for Black votes. By keeping our distance, conservatives enable Al Sharpton and his ilk. It’s shameful.

It appears that finally one Republican, Rand Paul, has figured this out. Good for Rand.

    Jobs blacks used to have.

They’ve also become aware of how the Hispanics are in line to supplant the blacks as the
most favored minority of the left. And that the number of voters is what is important, and
the Hispanics are going to have the numbers. Especially if the Hispanics can vote even tho
    they’re not citizens….

  17. Interesting how so many Progressives assume so many of the REST of us are too stupid to have (or deserve) “agency” for ourselves.

They, of course, have the solution right-at-hand; they’ll make our decisions FOR us.

Poor things, they are always, ALWAYS! shocked when we make our own choices; and doubly-shocked when our choices do NOT comport with the “Progressive Ideal” they worship.

  19. You called it, dee. The democrats and other assorted and sundry leftists are positioning to give it right up the rear to the blacks. They have their eye on the prize: 50 million+ new Hispanic voters all from socialist or semi socialist countries with leftist proclivities to begin with. And all willing and able to bask in the “free-bees” of American redistributionism. That’s why the anti ID voter laws. That’s why Obamacare. That’s why you can’t ask ID for anything and if you do you’re racist.

The democrats and leftists are done with the blacks. They’ve doe for them what they did for the Indians it’s time to move on. Oh, and don’t think for one minute they don’t have one eye in the future on moslems! They’re already positioning on clothing, food, accommodations, prayers and “stigma”.

  20. Propaganda works. Polls show most people believe the republican lie of wide spread fraudulent voting when only a very few cases are found mostly republican convicted felons voting and know illegal alien voting even when the republicans try to pay illegal aliens to commit voter fraud and realize they are being entrapped. The real vote fraud is preventing millions of american citizens from legally voting like the world war 2 veteran who was not alowed to vote in republican primary.

  23. You will need to provide specific citations for your numerous and ridiculous allegations, Perry. I realize in leftist world merely stating something (like I’m a black woman) makes it reality but in the rational world the rest of us live in, sorry. You can start your sorry ass by explaining to me how in several cases in Philly black districts voted 101-105% for Obama. How can more democrats vote than are registered Perry? How. You are either insane or a liar or both. Please let us know which you chose along with your documented citations from reputable sources.

  26. What with the Democrats long term opposition to School Choice, and this issue, among others, the day may come when the Inner City Poor of darker hue go to the polls in some awareness of just how badly the Liberal Democrats have screwed them over the decades.

  28. The real voter fraud problem is absentee ballots aka stuffing the ballot box. About which actual voter ID rules do nothing, since they affect only people who actually show up at the precinct.

I remember the recent changes in Wisconsin (hat tip to Walker) did actually include provisions addressing absentee ballot fraud. Beyond that, I have seen nothing in any recent laws that touch on that problem.

[And Perry is correct in one point…or at least, nothing I have seen even on conservative sites has any evidence of ID fraud (fraudulent vote committed by showing up at precinct and pretending to be another person, and therefore combatable through stricter ID laws) in more instances that I can count on the knuckles of both hands. If it were a real problem that figure should be much higher than low double digits. Or even high double digits.

there was a study that looked at voters in I think 27 states and compared it to the list of who voted in NC for the same election. there were I think in the tens of thousands of voters who seemed identical, ie, people who had voted in (at least) 2 states. Not only the same name, but also the same DOB and in many instances the same SSN. the people who did the study could not get the data from the other 22 states, which I think included NY

maybe it was bogus when examined closely, it seemed legit though

  40. 28. Thanks, I very much appreciate the documentation.

Markets everywhere rely on the ‘greater fool’ being readily available. But clearly even the ‘wise guys’ are sidling toward the exits, ditching bonds and equities & opting for derivatives. The run up in oil cannot be maintained as supply continues to grow. Housing and rents are seriously overpriced in historical terms. All and more indicate very brittle economic conditions.

I predict one has roughly 6 months to reduce your unsecured debt or risk losing control as central banks lose the ZIRP flight stick. I do not believe those with established equity or cash holdings are in trouble just 75% of Amerikkka.

  43. I have no idea why it would be a surprise to Juan Williams, or anyone else, that Americans want their vote to count.

I am about to type a series of racist, triggering comments, so please turn away. If you continue to read, my warnings are parenthetical for the feeble.

President Obama, whether you like him or not, represents a historical turn. For the first time, the nation elected, twice, (trigger warning) (racist) a true African-American to the nation’s highest office. I may not (trigger warning) (racist) like his politics, but (trigger warning) I do acknowledge his election is extremely important to a (racist) significant portion of the population and (trigger warning) for good reason.

He will be (trigger warning) (warning Will Robinson) a touchstone the same as Washington, Lincoln, Teddy, JFK and FDR. Sure, (trigger warning) his (racist) policies are toxic but, he represents something that has never happened before.

So why would (trigger warning) (racist) black Americans want their vote diluted by an influx of (trigger warning) (racist) illegal aliens capable of cancelling (trigger warning) their rights as (trigger warning) American citizens?

    Ag80 (eb6ffa)

  44. There is a reason Democrats are so frantically and rabidly against Voter ID laws. One of their favorite scams to run up the Dem vote in solid districts, especially those with large numbers of black voters, is to watch for the infrequent voters at each precinct, people who rarely turn out at all or will vote early if at all. When those haven’t showed up by late afternoon, they send in ringers to vote for them. As long as all they need is an electric bill or addressed envelope, they get by with it. Those things are easy enough to come by or dummy up. But actual IDs make the scam impossible to pull off.

When Democrats scream “There is no evidence of widespread fraud!” they rely on the fact this scam is undetectable without ID. But it goes on every election.
