President Obama Says Because He Wouldn’t Sign Off On Something Without First Knowing What’s In It, He Wouldn’t Expect Gulf Leaders To, Either

Filed under: General — Dana @ 5:24 pm

[guest post by Dana]

Today President Obama took questions from the press at Camp David where he is holding a summit of Gulf Arab states. You know, the summit where if any other leader backed out, the president would be talking to an empty room.

In spite of the tortured questions by members of the press, one particular answer from the president caught my ear.

First, the question (9:19 at the linked video):

You mentioned in your statement about the broad support from the GCC for stopping Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. Did you get any specific commitments from the Gulf Leaders for the for the framework that you reached a few months ago, and at least a commitment to not publicly oppose a deal if you’re able to reach that? And, on the Gulf’s main concern of Iran’s destabilizing activity in the region, how can you really assure them that Iran would not continue that activity if they had an influx of money from sanctions relief when they are already accused of doing so now with a weaker economy?:

Here is how the president responded:

“We didn’t have a document that we presented to them to sign, will you approve of this framework deal, because the deal is not completed. And, in the same way that I wouldn’t ask the United States Senate or the American people to sign off on something before they’ve actually seen the details of it and given that I’m not going to sign off on any deal until I’ve seen the details of it, I wouldn’t expect them to either.”

OH REALLY????

  1. Hello.

  2. He lies easily and compulsively.

A compulsive liar will resort to telling lies, regardless of the situation. Again, everyone lies from time to time (see, when lovers lie), but for a compulsive liar, telling lies is routine. It becomes a habit – a way of life.

Simply put, for a compulsive liar, lying becomes second nature.

Not only do compulsive liars bend the truth about issues large and small, they take comfort in it. Lying feels right to a compulsive liar. Telling the truth, on the other hand, is difficult and uncomfortable.

And like any behavior which provides comfort and an escape from discomfort (i.e., alcohol, drugs, sex), lying can become addictive and hard to stop. For the compulsive liar, lying feels safe and this fuels the desire to lie even more.

Making matters even more complicated, compulsive lying is often a symptom of a much larger personality disorder, which only makes the problem more difficult to resolve (see, narcissistic personality disorder and borderline personality disorder).

  23. Anyone else having problems with getting redirected away from Patterico.com? Doesn’t happen on any other sites, so I doubt that it’s something on my end.

  24. Marines know that the whole weakness leaving the body thing is not exclusive to Marines.

It’s why they work so hard.

As do we in the Navy, as we have to bus them around and deploy the small boats to pick them up wheen they get shot, then patch them up.

Yes. redirect started yesterday and happened once again already this morning. Only from Patterico site.

  28. I never made anyone join the nav, egd. It’s a volunteer service. And if you volunteer, there are rules. I used to enforce them. I think that’s fair.

Actually if you can’t understand these things I discourage you from joining. Like Joe Biden’s kid. Because the administrative separation proceedings are time consuming and I would really not rather waste the time.

    Steve57 (e468ba)

  29. Well, just like Bill Clinton, he technically is telling the truth while lying through his teeth.

He says he’ll never ask for the Senate or the People to sign off on something they never read. So, he’ll just sign off on it himself, via Executive Order. There, problem solved!

  30. Re: Redirects

If the redirect moves you to another site, then it’s very likely something malicious. Some thoughts as to the possible cause:

    * 3rd Party Advertising server that is serving a bad/malicious ad
    * Site hack that inserted the redirect as malware on your esteemed host’s hosting server

When I get hit by a drive-by grab or a pop-up window, I tend to launch my web browser in “Private Mode”, then enable ‘script debugging’ and ‘network traffic capturing’ via its Developer Tools. Private mode puts you into a sandbox of sorts in terms of Cookies and persistent data, which often re-triggers the grab if it is only supposed to happen as ‘First-Time Only’ on your first visit to the site. Traffic capturing allows for identifying what files are being requested from what sites; I use it to set conspicuous or bad sites in the ‘Restricted’ sites list so that they don’t run scripts or controls. Egregiously bad sites, particularly ones that track everything you do in life, get added to the hosts file and pointed to oblivion.

Unfortunately, if it’s a hack to the site itself, other than blocking scripts, you have to wait for the host to find it, fix it, and hopefully restore from a backup because who knows what other unpleasant surprises were hidden, like a chestburster waiting to pop out into the open.

    I agree with you.

I was mocking liberal “logic”: BHO is the head of the government. Everything is within the scope of the government. That means he gets to tell everyone what to do.
