Hillary Announces

Filed under: General — Dana @ 1:49 pm

[guest post by Dana]

In a rather bland video, Hillary formally announced that she is running for president. Clearly the image-makeover is well underway as we see a congenial, gracious and compassionate Hillary informing us that she wants to be our champion.

Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times, but the deck is still stacked in favor of those at the top,” Clinton says, speaking to the camera in front of her home in Chappaqua. “Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion.

Because when families are strong, America is strong.”

As to Hillary being the woman for the White House, another woman begs to differ:

“I think our nation is at a pivotal time, so anyone who wants to be president or commander-in-chief needs a track record of leadership and accomplishment and trustworthiness. Hillary Clinton is a highly intelligent woman, hardworking, she’s dedicated her life to public service. But unfortunately, she does not have a track record of accomplishment or transparency,” Fiorina says.

“After the famous reset with Russia, Russia is now a more powerful adversary than it was when she became secretary of state. Our relationship with Israel has deteriorated dramatically. The Middle East is in flames. And of course she has not been transparent. She told us for weeks after the purposeful terrorist attack in Benghazi that this was the result of an American video in a demonstration gone bad, and now we learn that she has used a private email server and a private email system for the most sensitive of communications while she was secretary of state.

“She doesn’t have a track record of leadership or trustworthiness. She’s not the woman for the White House.”

  1. Hello.

    Dana (86e864)

  2. Not gonna watch it. Nope!

    Gazzer (8d02a8)

  3. The video felt really long. Maybe because everyone on it seemed so bland and forced. Watch it and let me know what you think.

    Dana (86e864)

  4. OK, I watched it. Trite. Hit all the bullet points as you would expect. As little of Hillary as possible, but what there was did not exude warmth or sincerity. She just isn’t likeable. And if you can’t fake for the small amount of screen time she has, there is no hope. Or there shouldn’t be. Yet, TFG! Twice!

    Gazzer (8d02a8)

  5. Also, no actual content or accomplishments touted. Wonder why? No, I don’t.

    Gazzer (8d02a8)

  6. ==Americans have fought their way back from tough economic times==

Well, right out of the gate that’s an interesting statement! I don’t think most people young or old believe for a minute that they’ve successfully “fought their way back”–or that our country has. Can the sweet talking hottie convince them not to believe their own eyes and bank accounts?

  7. here’s 67 sad pitiful failmericans what were unable to fight their way back from the tough economic times

  8. I not sure why they are “pitiful failmericans.” Pitiable perhaps as hapless victims of GM’s greed and TFG’s zeal to pretend he saved GM in order to steal another election.

At least give her credit for being honest about herself, about her own devious, corrupt, two-faced circumstances.

    Sheesh.

Are enough Americans so stupid that they’ll fall for the crud and crap of Hillary?

They say that liberalism is a mental illness. Regrettably, there are signs that far too many people throughout the US are suffering from that particular condition.

  12. Byron York (H/T Powerline) has some pointed things to say about Hillary and Brood.

    Here’s a sample:

“…a new photo spread in the trendy fashion magazine ELLE featuring Chelsea Clinton modeling high-priced clothing, jewelry and shoes while discussing equal opportunity — all of that made for a discordant note in ClintonWorld’s big week…”

    That’s our Hill…..a Uniter, not a Divider.

  13. Fiorina vs Hillary. I’d have a hard time choosing the more qualified. After leading Lucent out of AT&T and into oblivion, Fiorina came close to destroying her next victim, HP, particularly with the horrific Compaq deal. At the end she was bugging the Board of Directors and squeezing the last Hewletts out of the company for disloyalty.

It has taken a number of successors to right the ship.

  17. Hillary! figures to win. But the idea she is some middle class champion is laughable. Expect Warren or O’Malley to make her good buddy Lloyd Blankfien her running mate.

All the GOP chuckleheads touting Fiorina have never bought an HP product nor owned stock in HP, nor seen her abysmal scared crap campaign.

Salon also has doubts about the messaging.

On Friday, Clinton’s campaign let slip its aim to raise $2.5 billion; maybe that’s not the best way to say hello to a struggling middle class. Someone gabbed about the message of Hillary’s planned sit downs with average families, a sure fire way to make the families look and feel like props — and to make the whole, hollow exercise look and feel like a hollow exercise.

  37. Aaaaand, we now have the campaign logo!

Absolutely dumbfounded by people like her, much less her former boss. Then I observe the reaction towards her by a good percentage of the US populace (eg, Gallup Poll), and I’m even more dumbfounded by them than by her.

I ask myself is my disdain of her (and her ilk) due to my ideology being in the opposite direction of hers? But I don’t think that’s fair to myself since if there were a rightwing version of Hillary, with all her blatant mendacity and grotesque incompetency, I sure as hell wouldn’t be fawning over her. I’d instead be livid that a conservative was tarnishing the image of the Republican Party and a right-leaning philosophy. But that — and by contrast — so much of the left, most of the media, and the Democrat Party’s hierarchy are perfectly content with Hillary! (much less Obama!) illustrates there’s something profoundly, astonishingly defective about left-leaning sentiment.

  47. Casting herself as a “champion” of middle-class Americans, she portrayed herself in an online video released Sunday afternoon as someone who would take nothing for granted and who would be “hitting the road to earn your vote, because it’s your time.”

On Sunday evening, she made that promise a reality. According to MSNBC, Clinton left her New York home with top aides Huma Abedin and Nick Merrill, as well as members of the Secret Service, in a black van she’s dubbed the “Scooby Doo van.” The group headed for first-caucus state Iowa.

It was not actually a sentance, more like a paragraph. The part we are interested in at the moment went like this:

has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.

taking a look at the polls, i’d say that last sentence is accurate today.

I wonder how many of these everyday Americans are really campaign workers, like all the plants Obama peppers his events with. Any day now they’re going to start fainting from the sheer emotional impact of attending a Hillary! campaign function.

  71. In case you missed the news.

    http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/story/military/2015/04/07/last-ioc-in-marine-experiment-drops-two-officers/25418867/

The two-and-a-half year period in which the Marine Corps’ Infantry Officer Course became gender-integrated for research will end without a single female graduate…

Just in case you thought it was all homophobia at Case de Steve57. Apparently I’m also a misogynist.

This was probably the first social issue on which I was accused of being “out of step.” I’ll always remember it fondly.

…But as the research continued, few volunteers took advantage of the opportunity. By July 2014, only 20 female officers had attempted the course. Only one made it through the Combat Endurance Test, and none made it to the end.

In an effort to achieve their goal of 100 female volunteers cycling through IOC, the Marine Corps opened the course to female company-grade officers in October 2014, making hundreds more Marines eligible for the course. The Corps also began requiring that volunteers get a first-class score on the male version of the service’s Physical Fitness Test in an effort to better prepare them for the rigors of IOC.

The effort was a mixed success. In the October iteration of IOC, three of the seven female volunteers made it through the Combat Endurance Test, bringing the total number of women to pass the test to four. Two of those who passed the test were captains from the fleet. As time passed, no influx of volunteers materialized, however.

The testing period ends with just 27 female volunteers having attempted the course…

Most women who join the Marines are sane. They are not Chelsea Clinton. Who the Clintons would never let serve.

Just because I can (still) do more push-ups or because I’m better at hauling pumps and generators up and down ladders doesn’t mean I’m a better person than a woman.

  75. re #74: still the women are in good enough shape to get into the Marines. I wonder why the paucity. especially considering that police forces didn’t have nearly that much disparity.

back in the 80s, major cities on the East Coast changed their guidelines for strength and fitness to get into police academy. once in, a good number of women were able to complete the more rigorous exams. unfortunately a grip test was deemed to be too sexist in the regular entrance exam and several casualties resulted from that decision. But there are plenty of women who can complete the police type exams, you’d think the proportion would be the same with the Marines.

  76. I’m cool with plus size models so I think I can handle the weight.

The P-100 portable pump is a diesel engine-driven
centrifugal pump assembly, used aboard ship for fire
fighting and dewatering (fig. 5-29). When used for fire
fighting, the P-100 pump draws water from the sea and
pumps the water through hoses to supply the firemain
or individual fire hoses. When used for dewatering, the
P-100 takes suction on a flooded compartment and
discharges it into the sea. The P-100 is designed to
provide 100 gpm at 83 psi with a suction lift of 20 feet.
Other configurations may be rigged to create a greater
suction lift; these are discussed in NSTM, chapter 555,
    volume 1 (series).

…The P-100 pump should be stowed on the damage
control deck or above. No more than one single pump
will be stored within a single main watertight division.
One pump, complete with all accessories, will be
stowed for ready transfer off the ship for rescue and
assistance use. The P-100 pump has a total dry weight
of 106.9 pounds; therefore, one person should not
    attempt to move it alone…

Whoops. Safety first. Guess that rules out the Weight Watchers crowd.

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

  77. seaRpea, there’s this little thing about carrying a combat load for days at a time. Also, going weeks and months without the basics of hygiene or decent food. Which means you will at some point have to drop trow and crap on the trail in front of God and leering 19 year old guys and everybody. Because your digestive system won’t give you the choice.

A lot of women don’t find this an attractive career choice.

Which is why the Marines, where you’ll probably find the most hardcore women of women, could not come up with its target of 100 IOC candidates in two years of trying. They already know.

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

  78. seeRpea, I mean.
