Hillary! to Launch Presidential Campaign This Weekend

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:39 am

And there was much rejoicing.

Hillary Clinton reportedly will kick off her long-expected 2016 presidential campaign on Sunday.

Sources confirmed the planned announcement to The Associated Press. The Guardian, citing a source familiar with the campaign, also reported that Clinton is scheduled to declare her candidacy through Twitter at noon Sunday. The tweet will be followed by a video and email announcement, and then a series of conference calls announcing her tour, which starts in Iowa.

Clinton would be the first Democratic candidate to confirm a run for the White House and she is considered to be the clear frontrunner to win the party’s nomination.

It will be great to have her face back on my computer screen regularly.

  3. Pat,

If you have to run her picture, please don’t make it so prominent. Ouch!

  4. America’s answer to Argentina’s Cristina Kirchner or Brazil’s Dilma Rousseff, including all the leftist tilt and socio-economic decay or anomie that goes with such people, that goes with such things.

    Lucky us.

Eat your heart out, France. We’ve got your back, Mexico. And don’t cry for us, Argentina—or Greece, Spain, Italy, etc.

  5. And the ever increasing decline of The American Experiment continues. Congratulations flower children. You have taken the shining city on a hill and turned it into Detroit, a seething cesspool of socialism and corruption.

  9. So true, Dana. Fortunately, being on the East Coast, I’ve had my breakfast….

Pat, that is my favorite Monty Python quote. But could you please find a picture that does not quite resemble Mothra so exactly?

And I promise not to imitate missile for the rest of the day.

  11. Oh, c’mon kish: how could you not love the alliteration of “seething cesspool of socialism?”

    The literate Dana (f6a568)

  12. The internet police will be diligently watching for infractions against this “historic” candidacy. It is important to remind all comers at every opportunity in every venue that our criticisms and concerns about a Hillary! presidency are because unfortunately we *know* her all too well, and that we will NOT be bullied into treating her with kid gloves just because she’s a giiirl.

It was that “don’t cry for me Argentina” which tipped the scales for me.

  14. Apologies to teh Cowsills “(I Love) the Flower Girl”

I saw her flying on a plane
    Racking up those air miles
    She didn’t seem to care
    Benghazi it turned to sh*t

    And I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew)
She would lie so easy (easy, easy)
her lies in the air, lying everywhere

    I hate teh Hillary!
    Oh, so many reasons why
    to list, I wouldn’t try
I hate teh Hillary! she seemed so daft and shrill
    She’ll never fill teh bill

I knew she had to run, oh noes (oh noes, oh noes)
    She feels so entitled
leaves bodies in her wake, left Vince Foster in teh park alone

    But I knew (I knew, I knew, I knew, I knew)
She would lio easy (easy, easy)
Her lies in the air, lying everywhere

    I hate teh Hillary!

Oh, I know the reasons why
    She’d make teh Satan cry
I hate teh Hillary! she seemed so daft and shrill
    was never #$@@$$ by Bill

Yes. I wonder how long it will take for her to implode. She has not aged well and her bubble has reenforced her worst instincts.

I wonder if the Muslims will hold off long enough for her to get elected. It will be unusual for them to resist temptation.

  21. ”goggles they do nothing’ did you know that Martin Scorsese is doing a Clinton project, I know too subtle an auteur, whereas the libelous trash of the Rather’s rheumatism is also

  30. Manson of course being a convict serving consecutive life sentences and ineligible to vote or serve on a jury is perfectly qualified to run as a Democrat candidate for president, or be appointed to a cabinet position.

  31. 31. There’s just no accounting for true love. 🙂 Or in their case, trying to figure out which of them, Huma or Anthony benefits most from the Marital Privilege protection that one spouse cannot in most cases be forced to testify against the other spouse.

  34. 35. The minorities were motivated to vote tribally for Obama. Far fewer will be motivated to turn out for Hillary.

    kishnevi (adea75)

  35. This is pretty good news. She’s universally disliked and unappealing, even among her supporters. Not getting my hopes up,but there’s a fighting chance against this one.

    SarahW (6f3980)

  36. I say repeal the 22nd Amendment and let Obama run again.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  37. People are done with the Democrats for now, just as they were done with the GOP in 2008. Hillary is running with only token opposition because everyone knows it will be a GOP year. They are willing to wait, but she can’t. All she can do is run and hope the media advantage can overcome the public’s desire for change.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  38. 37 wrong again in 2008 primary hispanics voted for mrs. clinton over Obama and kept her in primary race to end. Mexicans and central americans love her and democrats are spending big$$$ to register every latino who turns 18 and they are concentrated in a few states. In most south west states over half the babies born are hispanic. In texas 44% of population is mexican and only 11% of the vote in texas in 2012 when wendy davis went after women’s vote and not hispanic as democrat party was playing down immigration issue to prtedt southern democrats in senate which failed.

  40. Jeb Bush being the GOP nominee means President Hillary!

Not right or left, merely an observation; politicians really must not have much else in their lives they love or enjoy. As a teen once saw Charles Schumer begging morning rush subway riders for their votes in a Congressional election. Thought then and still that’s a crazy way to earn a living. And Schumer hasn’t stopped since.

But Hillary! is an extreme case. There is such a vacuum of joy about this woman, a vacuum filled with anger, resentment and ambition. She will never spend a quiet afternoon reading a book, go to a beach, a bike ride, gym visit, a nap, play with the grandkids, go to dinner and a show with her husband. That anyone at this stage of their life would be so bereft of any other meaning than more politics is astoundingly disturbing. It’s like an old shark that keeps swimming, or it will drown and die.

The Brotherhood of Huge Deposits of Whale Excrement was expected to hold a press conference later today to issue a similar reminder.”

  44. Narciso-

being a pol in 21st Century America has less to do with acomplishment nor integrity nor solving problems than it does with berating subordinates, moreso if they speak the truth. We have confiscatory taxes. At every level government reeks of rank daily incompetence. In contrast to our crumbling cities is the plush Potemkin village life of our Dear Leader specifically and the court of DC generally. The economy goes into the toilet as the government pretends otherwise. The press are but purring kittens. We are becoming the people we once despised. Welcome to the Soviet States of America. Hillary! and her smiling visage will fill the new poster fine. Sell the lie, hard, every day.And wrose the GOP seems poised to go along to get along. Again.

  45. 42. There are knowledgeable people who believe that Simon and Schuster was paid a large sum of mystery money upfront to both print and “distribute” her book and to orchestrate her “book tour”–just as she herself was paid a huge “advance” amount upfront (but not necessarily out of Simon Schuster’s bank account ) to “write it”. Again mystery money. It really didn’t matter much if anybody actually bought or read her book.

It is doubtful that Simon Schuster either lost, or gained money, from this purely political operation to try to keep her name in the public eye.

In her May issue editor’s letter, ELLE Editor-in-Chief Robbie Myers writes: “There is something innately regal about Chelsea—a kind of grace that doesn’t seem practiced, or trotted out just for public consumption. She’s a person of substance for sure, a young woman who, while measured in her manner, has a fierceness of conviction, and a calling to make the world a better place.”

  49. “LA Law” had a great episode in late 1992 mocking the cult of Clinton worship back when it was getting off the ground among liberals on the national level. Amusing–if a tad horrifying–to see that it’s going strong more than two decades later when anyone with any sense should know better.

But that won’t stop them from singing her praises… (Mr. Subliminal: “follow the money”)… or pimping her supposed leadership qualities or “can-do” attitude…

I know several very conservative repulicans that voted for Hillary – albeit in the 2008 primary – under the belief that she would be less bad than Obuma – In hindsight, we were correct.
