Deputy Inspector General: “There Is Potential Criminal Activity” In Disappearance of Lerner Emails

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 5:43 pm

Weird how they were able to find plenty of emails when the IRS just couldn’t find any:

The IRS’s inspector general confirmed Thursday it is conducting a criminal investigation into how Lois G. Lerner’s emails disappeared, saying it took only two weeks for investigators to find hundreds of tapes the agency’s chief had told Congress were irretrievably destroyed.

Investigators have already scoured 744 backup tapes and gleaned 32,774 unique emails, but just two weeks ago they found an additional 424 tapes that could contain even more Lerner emails, Deputy Inspector General Timothy P. Camus told the House Oversight Committee in a rare late-night hearing meant to look into the status of the investigation.

“There is potential criminal activity,” Mr. Camus said.

How about that.

  3. I suspect that Hillary!’s secret email domain may be the key to the whole malignant enterprise collapsing. The use of private email accounts in this administration is so widespread it has to be a deliberate policy decision. The only reason Obama seemed capable of being so smug about nobody coming up with a hint of a “smidgen of corruption” or wrongdoing is because he thought their cover up operation was too slick.

Perhaps Hillary!s email account, and who she was communicating back and forth with, could be the loose thread that causes everything to unravel.

  9. Lerner needs to be locked up for the rest of her malignant corrupt soul-dead nasty life

  11. Apparently the IG announced the emails were found but isn’t turning them over. The statute of limitations will run on
Lerner before the facts comes out. This is why corruption is so devastating to the rule of law.

  14. Revealed: Clinton’s office was warned over private email use
State Department technology experts expressed security concerns that then–Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was using a private email service rather than the government’s fortified and monitored system, but those fears fell on deaf ears, a current employee on the department’s cybersecurity team told Al Jazeera America on Tuesday.

One question: Why am I reading this from a report provided by Aljazeera America?

    Walter Cronanty (f48cd5)

  15. That’s a rhetorical question, right Walter?

    Steve57 (813c29)

  16. Kind of – but why would “…a current employee on the department’s cybersecurity team…” be talking to Aljazeera? Plus, the MSM, completely out of character, seems to be focusing in on this story, so why didn’t he/she go there. And why is the MSM focusing on this story? Are they not-so-secretly rooting for Fauxahontas?
