Josh the Spokesliar: Obama Probably Won’t Watch Netanyahu Speech

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 6:26 pm

What a tool:

“Will the president watch the speech tomorrow?” Jansing asked.

“I haven’t looked at the president’s schedule for tomorrow,” Earnest said. “I doubt that he will spend his whole time watching the speech.”

OK. I guess sometimes we don’t watch speeches of people we don’t like.

For example: I don’t watch Obama speeches.

I just don’t have a strong enough stomach.

  2. The president could not look more childish and stubborn and foot stompy if he tried. No matter what he thinks of Benjamin, Barack Obama should at least want to know what he said to the American people.

  6. Why should Dear Leader watch Prime Minister Netanyahu’s speech? He’s already made up his mind that caving in to the Iranians is the wisest course of action in the Middle East, so it just doesn’t make any sense for him to hear dissenting opinion. It would be like allowing someone to intrude on his deeply-held beliefs (well, at least since Tom Steyer told him what to think) that there is very little benefit to U.S. oil production in allowing the Keystone Pipeline to be built.

  7. count me among those who do not expect the PotUS to watch the speech but have an underling give a report on it. as he probably would have done had he “approved” of the speech.

I sent my Congresscritter a “love” note about her shameful announced intention not to attend the speech this morning even though support for Israel is in her DNA.

The US would be better off if Obama were on the golf course as much as possible, if he were gallivanting around Hawaii or bathhouses in Chicago to his heart’s content, watching the NBA on TV 24/7, and as detached from the world as any person can possibly be. Simply put, better those options than for him to believe he’s expected to earn his salary, because every time he lays his grubby hands on something or someone, bad results ensue.

The WH spokesweasel is bluffing. Obama will be holed up somewhere in the WH watching every word. Crying, as Bibi rhetorically spanks him.

  30. Of course, there’s a down side to having President Mean Girl watching Netanyahu deliver a speech that utterly humiliates him, as he cries his teenaged prom queen eyes out on Valerie Rasputin Jarrett’s shoulder.

If he wasn’t ready to order American air defense forces to shoot down an Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities, this petulant thin skinned narcissist will be now (the Brzezinski option).

    http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2015/03/barack-obama-the-answer-to-ayatollah-khameneis-prayers.php

Ray Takeyh, who served in the Obama administration focusing on Iran, has an illuminating piece on how Iran’s “Supreme Leader” is “patiently negotiating his way to a bomb.” Absent military intervention, Ayatollah Khamenei was always going to pursue his nuclear bomb. But it now looks like he will be able to pursue it in the most advantageous manner possible — with American cooperation.

President Hurt Feelings is going to make sure the Iranians get their bomb. Even if that means shooting down Israeli jets. Even if it means having the US build it for them.

There is no evidence, none whatsoever, that Teh Won has ever paid any attention at all to anyone who even slightly disagreed with him.

  33. Saying that somebody is not going to watch the s[eech is astandard Clinton – and Obama also to some degree, publoic relations tactic. It serves the double purpose of trying to minimize the number of people who watch the speech and gives the person “not watching” an excuse not to comment on it, or to describe it misleadingly.

He’s already made up his mind that caving in to the Iranians is the wisest course of action in the Middle East,

That’s not it. It’s that the negtiations are “too big to fail”

But the Iranians may press their luck and propose something that even Obama would reject.

Kerry will certainly have to threaten to walk away. A big problem would be if then he accepts the first thing that sounds semi-reasonable to him.

One problem is that Obama seems to think the Iranians are sometimes irrational – so that of there was an attack, there might be a wider war – but not always irrational, so that they wouldn’t actually use an atomic bomb – something that Netanyahu is not at all confident about.

And Obama thinks Iran fighting the United States if they are bombed is more likely than them using an atomic bomb if they get one. As a matter of fact, this actually reverses what is more likely. The Iranians, if they have a bomb, are more like to use it than, if they don’t yet have a bomb, fight the United States if the Unoted States attempts to destroy their capability.

Anyway the biggest problem is a lack of an exit strategy from the agreement: What happens if Iran violates the verification terms, or openly flouts the agreement, and you have to be prepared if they do it at Point A, at PointB at Point C or at Point D. And they are not anyway complying with all verification requirements now from all agreements now.

And another problem is the agreement does nothing to stop Iran from developing ICBMs. Now, Netanyahu may point out, you only build an ICBM if you want to deliver a nuclear bomb – no other payload is worth it.

    Really, Mr. Realistic Dana?

    http://hotair.com/archives/2015/03/03/obama-to-netanyahu-whats-your-plan-for-iran-then/

Not sure why he’s mumbling about “viable alternatives” when the refrain from his own team over the past 24 hours, starting with Susan Rice, is that a bad deal with Iran is worse than no deal, which is precisely Netanyahu’s point. Bibi’s plan is clear enough, though: Keep the pressure on Tehran by keeping sanctions in place until they’re willing to give up more than just the 10-year temporary freeze that Obama’s currently asking for. O also complained here to the press that there was nothing new in Netanyahu’s speech, which is true — for a reason…

President Mean Girl emerges from hiding in WH closet, eyes red from crying, and demands to know why Bibi didn’t include details of own plan to deal with Iran in speech he had vowed to ignore.

Thus providing evidence he paid attention despite teenaged vow not to do so.
