Obama State Dep’t Spokesmoron: We Found a Religion Relevant to a Terror Group: Christianity!

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:34 pm

These people in the Obama administration are really something.

  • They refuse to call Christians who are beheaded “Christians”
  • They refuse to call Islamic extremist terrorists “Islamic”

But find them a Christian terror group, and they’ll call it Christian:

What do you expect from a group who thinks that the underlying cause for terrorism is not an extremist interpretation of Islam, but rather a lack of jobs?

  6. given the malevolent narcissist who currently occupies the Oval Office.

Undoubtedly heightened, or certainly not discouraged, by current public opinion polls that show greater numbers of Americans approving of his performance today than even a few months ago, against the backdrop of his doing better than his predecessor did at the 6-year mark of Bush’s presidency back in 2007.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President.”

^ Places like Michigan’s largest city, or Mexico, or France, or Venezuela, or Argentina, etc, should always be kept in mind as a daily reminder to anyone who believes that things in the US can’t get any worse or can’t possibly remain quite bad. IOW, to think that way is to be ignorant of the intrinsic failings of human nature, from sea to shining sea.

Container traffic through the Port of Seattle was up 1.1 percent in January compared with the same month last year, while the Port of Tacoma saw a 25 percent decline during the period.

It is the first time in almost a year and a half that Seattle moved more cargo through its port than its former rival Tacoma.

The two reported their cargo statistics together for the second month since announcing the Seaport Alliance — the joint management of their marine-cargo operations.

In January, ships carried 226,906 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) through the Puget Sound Gateway, down 13 percent from the same month last year.

While Seattle moved 119,684 TEUs through its port in January, ships carried 107,222 TEUs through Tacoma — the lowest since February 2012, according to port records.

Issues related to ongoing contract negotiations between the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) and International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) began affecting cargo movement at U.S. West Coast ports on Halloween. Since then, container traffic through Puget Sound has continued to decline — specifically in Tacoma.

Kony proclaims himself the spokesperson of God and a spirit medium, and has been considered by some as a cult of personality, and claims he is visited by a multinational host of 13 spirits, including a Chinese phantom.[2] Ideologically, the group is a syncretic mix of mysticism, Acholi nationalism, and Christian fundamentalism, and claims to be establishing a theocratic state based on the Ten Commandments and local Acholi tradition.

I have no idea how any human being with an IQ above lettuce could have edited that entry to put “Christian fundamentalism” in there as all the rest of that crap means he can’t be a Christian of any kind let alone a fundamentalist.

  36. This is a comment posted at Hotair

NPR has a story from 2005 on the “The Lord’s Resistence Army”. It says:
Alice Lakwena is the spiritual founder of Uganda’s Lord’s Resistance Army … whose … army has been charged with war crimes….
If you look on Wikipedia if you search for “Alice Lakwena”, you are directed to the page about Alice Auma, instead. However, they explain it in the first paragraph:
Alice Auma (1956 – 17 January 2007) was an Acholi spirit-medium who, as the head of the Holy Spirit Movement, led a millennial rebellion against the Ugandan government forces of President Yoweri Museveni from August 1986 until November 1987. The primary spirit she purportedly channeled was that of a dead army officer called “Lakwena”, meaning messenger, which the Acholi believe to be a manifestation of the Christian Holy Spirit.[1] The combined persona of Alice Auma channeling the spirit Lakwena is often referred to as Alice Lakwena[emphasis theirs].
So “Lakwena” thought that a dead military officer, whom she channeled was a “manifestation of the Holy Spirit”?

    The Biography section has:
Alice Auma was born in 1956. Remaining childless after two marriages, she moved away from her hometown. She eventually converted to Christianity but, on 25 May 1985, she reportedly went ‘insane’, unable to either hear or speak, later claiming to have been possessed by a spirit, Lakwena. Her father took her to eleven different witches but none alleviated her condition. Alice claimed a spirit called Lakwena then guided her to Paraa National Park, where she disappeared for 40 days and returned a spirit-medium
    And here’s another quote:
Alice Auma claimed that the possessing spirit Lakwena required that Alice be possessed by numerous other spirits to achieve its goals.
Cause, those Christians are all about letting yourself be possessed by spirits, aren’t they?

You know just because Pidgin English refers to a helicopter “Mixmaster belong Jesus Christ” (thanks to the prankish mindset of the GIs who taught them English) it doesn’t mean that they are professing a belief in Jesus Christ. Cargo-cult religion is the same as cargo-cult English. I you don’t understand the concepts, it has no reflection on people who do.

    Kony is her nephew:
After Lakwena fled to Kenya, her nephew, Joseph Kony, took over the movement, which he renamed the Lord’s Resistance Army, or LRA. Lakwena says she has no contact with Kony and doesn’t support the LRA. But why is the spiritual founder of a movement whose leaders have been indicted for war crimes, a voodoo priestess who led hundreds of children to their death, living under the protection of the United Nations, which runs the refugee camps, and the Kenyan government, which oversees them?
At least, they identified her right, back before it mattered to propaganda mills.

Axeman on February 18, 2015 at 6:06 PM

I went and looked through all of the links mentioned, Alice Auma, Lords Resistence Army, the NPR story

There isn’t one damn thing linking any of it to Christianity at all. Jim Jones is John the Baptist compared to this collection of voodoo, freaks, and witchdoctors.

Steve is probably right that the wikipedia entry was doctored by a WH spokeshole.

Regrettably, when the car crashes, it will send metal chunks flying in their (or our) direction.

BTW, I bet if Ben Carson had been America’s first black president, his popularity would be lower today than that of President “Goddamn America,” meaning liberalism or leftism is what is ultimately pinging the consciousness of far too much of the public.

U.S. slams Sudan for blocking Darfur mass rape investigation

    Reuters

By Louis Charbonneau February 13, 2015 2:13 AM

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – The United States on Thursday sharply criticized Sudan for obstructing a United Nations investigation into what Washington’s U.N. envoy said were credible allegations of mass rape in the conflict-torn western Darfur region.

Speaking at a meeting of the U.N. Security Council, U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power referred to a new report by New York-based Human Rights Watch, which accused Sudanese soldiers of raping at least 221 women and girls in the village of Tabit over the course of three days.

The only thing the United States is doing, besides complaining in the proper forum, is lifting some
sanctions and advocating an arms embartgo against South Sudan because of the civil war there.

Colonel, thanks for finding a link to his essays. I saved one from a few years ago from the Ottawa newspaper that originally published it.

Yes: a lot of people have entertained the idea, that Mikhail Gorbachev was to the late great Soviet Union, what Barack Obama is to the surviving United States — the leader who reforms so many things so quickly that his country suddenly disappears. One recalls the speed with which the first Soviet head of state to be born after the October Revolution became its last head of state. It took him about three years: just less than the time of one U.S. presidential term. (Though he had already taken three years to warm up, as General Secretary of the Communist Party.)

A very perspicacious essay. That was from 2008 or 2009.
