Where Is Media Watchdog Group On The Brian Williams Story?

Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.
So, I guess the absence of any reporting by Media Matters on the Brian Williams debacle confirms what we have all suspected known to be true: NBC is a liberal news media outlet.

MM may be being tellingly coy, and NBC is clearly trying to avoid further mention of it on their site after initially posting some details and the text of the apology he gave on the nightly news. But this story is everywhere–every newspaper and newspaper website, blogs, cartoons, all the other networks and cables, twitter and most journalism trade sites. So the “news blackout” of bad liberal stories is not working too well in this case.
Variety announced that NBC has opened an investigation headed by the former city editor of New York Newsday, Rich Esposito. And Brian must absolutely LOVE this: Variety magazine has also posted an article that pictures some of the possible replacements should Brian step down.

1. The ECB has drawn a line in the sand. They will not grant additional funds to Greece without political support from the mainline Euro players. In other words, they will not be the enablers that Yellen and Uncle Ben have been for Obola.
2. European “analysts” (anal cysts) continue to urge the prosperous members (meaning responsible) to flood the failing countries with “Marshall Funds”, assuming that the ossified remains of the economies of Greece, Italy, and Spain, can somehow managed to stand on their own feet and actually produce something, given a couple of hundred billion Euros.
And Obola refers to the religion that underlies ISIS as “our” religion. A Freudian slip?

I do not know whether my respect for media matters is supposed to go up or down now that I have read their self-identification. I had assumed, silly me, that they claimed to monitor and analyze what was in the media , not specifically conservative media.
So, I guess when they ignore all kinds of stuff they are just being true to their self-description of watching conservatives and ignoring everything non-conservative.
But they are still dishonest as we all know in presuming that only conservatives need to be watched.

If you live in NYC, for example and read the NYT and Mr Williams you have no idea what is going on except for the selected stories you are spoon-fed. My home town paper, Arizona Republic, did not make one mention of Fast and Furious for 18 full months. And that was a local story.

Perhaps less so if it were revealed that Williams is a devout conservative who has reliably voted Republican for decades. IOW, less significant if the core of all this were not the sickness that is socio-political liberalism, which ties all these “do’h!” stories you mentioned together, including the socio-politically-economically ailing nations of Europe or the moral relativism of Obama, ISIS and Christianity (ie, Nidal-Hassan-ism), not even dealing with tangential issues like Elissa’s mentioning of Rosie O’Donnell splitting from her second “wife.”
The road to hell is paved with good intentions (or modern-day liberalism, truly gone berserk), and we’ve been moseying down that wonderful highway for quite awhile now. Let’s all wave hello to the people with sanity standing on the side of that thoroughfare as they stare at the passing parade with their mouths wide open.

But let’s face it, his sins are venial, silly self-aggrandizing fibs, born of deep feelings of inferiority. So in compensation (Walter Mitty) Williams compulsively makes himself out to be more than he is. Which is a particular shortcoming shared by a great many of us – so let’s be extra cautious about casting stones.
Especially since Williams is indisputably an accomplished man, he’s reached the highest levels of his profession, he’s gloriously rich, and he was almost universally respected (among leftists anyway) but his inferiority complex was always at work in the shadows or just under the surface undermining his confidence and setting traps to strike at his most vulnerable target – his credibility. The man just couldn’t be himself, that wasn’t good enough, he foolishly and compulsively claimed honors that weren’t his. It’s practically a routine occurrence with drunks and braggarts, but it becomes especially notable when one of the glittering demigods of the 4th Estate falls to earth.
Dan Rather squandered his credibility too, but his was less of a distinctively personal failing and more the result of an enormously inflated ego seeking to ram a manufactured deception down the public’s throat and insolently demanding they submit to his superior wisdom. Dan’s death dance was more like a childish tantrum than the usual slick network presentation of political propaganda masquerading as objective news and commentary from the nation’s most respected TV journalist.
Rather was out to derail a presidential candidate with phony documents – then when the documents were proved to be forgeries – Rather compounded the disgrace by insisting that even if the documents were fakes, they were accurate. He staked his reputation it: thus did Fake but Accurate become Dan’s epitaph.
Williams has also compounded his prevarications by offering a weak and self-serving non-apology – apology. That well traveled road may seem attractive now, but it’s a one-way street leading to a dark dead end. Yet, as it stands now, Williams still has a chance to survive, he’ll be humiliated and damaged, but survival depends on coming to Jesus, standing up, admitting the truth, and asking for another chance to earn the public’s respect.
