Pakistani Taliban Monsters Kill 132 Children

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:02 pm

Flashbacks to Beslan:

Militants from the Pakistani Taliban have attacked an army-run school in Peshawar, killing 141 people, 132 of them children, the military say.

Officials say the attack in the north-western city is over, with all the attackers killed. Seven militants took part in all, according to the army.

There is evil in the world.

  1. Yep, SecState Kerry and Hillary….let’s negotiate with them. That’ll work.

    I prefer waterboarding.

And the putative leader of our country is unwilling to even name it.

The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms today’s horrific attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims, their families, and loved ones. By targeting students and teachers in this heinous attack, terrorists have once again shown their depravity. We stand with the people of Pakistan, and reiterate the commitment of the United States to support the Government of Pakistan in its efforts to combat terrorism and extremism and to promote peace and stability in the region.

  4. I wrote a blog post in 2009, saying why I thought we should get out of Afghanistan then.

The last line of that post was: Then, if things deteriorate, Pakistan may become the target instead of Afghanistan.

    Guess what.

  6. Yet another episode of “workplace violence”, to use his phrase.

More and more I sadly feel that Kipling had it correct in “The Grave of the Hundred Head”.

We can’t make anyone do something or not do something (trying to find a different phrasing for my usual “the only control is self-control”.) If the Pakistanis make examples of the dead goblins, perhaps some of the other people in the movement will decide they don’t want to do goblin activities.

    No guarantee, of course.

My condolences to the families and friends of the innocents slain.

Sure, he’ll name it. Just as soon as he can figure out how to blame this on the TEA Party, the NRA, and those xenophobic bitter clingers in flyover country desperately resisting change while keeping a white knuckle grip on their religion and their guns.

If MAJ Nidal Hassan’s Fort Hood Massacre was just another act of secular “workplace violence,” then this is just another school shooting.

And yes, I know they used bombs, but that fact won’t get in the way of the narrative any more than the fact that Michael Brown wasn’t surrendering with his hands up.

  9. When are we going to have a national conversation on Muslim on Muslim violence?

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  10. There you go, daley. Victim blaming. Again! Muslims have clearly been traumatized by disillusionment with our system of international law that exists to perpetuate European white male privilege at the expense of Muslims, women, and the differently gendered. After all, every death of Muslim of color at the hands of a western soldier is a tragedy. The hesitancy to recognize the validity of these psychic effects demonstrates that, in addition to conversations on race, gender and class, our world is starving for a genuine discussion about mental health.

Muslim on Muslim violence isn’t the issue. Muslim on non-Muslim violence isn’t the issue. It is racist and classist of you to attempt to divert attention from the real issue the oppressive Western system that has institutionalized generations of non-Muslim violence against Muslims. You are clearly invalidating the experience of Muslim lives.

  12. Political and religious leaders are calling for the elimination of the TTP.

Their larger problem might be that the instrument (ISI) to dismantle the TTP is totally compromised.

  13. The Taliban are not claiming this was because of the Nobel Peace Prize, but because the Pakistani Army went on an offensive against them in Northern Waziristan. So they killed the children of people in the army.

On the CBS Evening News, the words “cycle of violence” were heard.(uttered by Clarissa Ward)

  16. i don’t really understand what this accomplishes

i do know the Sony hackers have been super-effective in kicking Sony in the nuts and cowing them into mewling submission

  18. The Sony hackers are now threatening to do what the Joker did at a Batman movie. I don’t think North Korea has agents in the United States. They’d have to hire some other country, or a criminal gang, to do it for them.

  19. The Taliban entered the school wearing Pakistani army uniforms. I think this is fairly good indication it was an inside job.

  20. We stand with the people of Pakistan, and reiterate the commitment of the United States to support the Government of Pakistan

Which people and which part of the Government–the part that’s arming and supporting and providing refuge to the Taliban, or the other part?

The old “butcher-and-bolt” policy of the British in that part of the world looks wiser by the day.

  21. Capture them. Force them to watch 6 years worth of Obama speeches, then bring Hillary in to empathize with them.
Seriously, we have barbarians attacking the structures of civilization. We should fight to win. Our survival depends upon it.

Which people and which part of the Government–the part that’s arming and supporting and providing refuge to the Taliban, or the other part?

Obama;s pretending that there’s only one part. Maybe he thinks that if you pretend long enough and hard enough, it’ll become true.

    Sammy Finkelman (8bd44f)

  23. Obama speaking: He’s normalizing relations with Cuba..because it is the right thing to do, and may bring democracy to Cuba.

  24. It’s true that what we’ve been doing didn’t work.

What would work is another Mariel boatlift.

    Sammy Finkelman (8bd44f)

  25. Half-Correction: The United States did not actually agree to open an embassy – it agreed to open discussions.

Although the New York Times says:

American officials said they will open an embassy in Cuba for the first time in more than a half century after the release of an American contractor held in prison for five years.

The fact that is not ready to be announced probably means that Obama decided on this in the last week – and it may have bene part of the price for the release of Alan Grossman.

  26. Now…just for a moment. Imagine they have caught these killers and taken them to Gitmo. Imagine it is YOUR job to interrogate them, and that there are other killers, just like these, roaming around, and information from these bad guys may help stop the next massacre. Then imagine them laughing and bragging about murdering children, and spitting in your face.

Now imagine you have the ability to order daily cavity searches.

These are very nasty, ugly people. As much as liberals clutch their pearls at the thought of torture, or whatever you want to call it, I have a very hard time getting much worked up over the idea. And I don’t think I’m a bad person for feeling that way. Just as I love dogs, but wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a rabid dog attacking my kids.

The real question isan’t what the CIA guys did, but how they managed to restrain themselves from doing far worse.

  27. You are assuming that:

    1) NO one can be gotten to defect>

    2) Threats of punishment will not work, and various small reqards and punishments will not wortk.

    3) The British didn’t use torture with captured German spies during World War II. They gave them a short time to co-operate, or else they were told they would be executed, and they were. Most co-operated.

  28. Greetings:

I find it kind of interesting how rarely “Beslan” has showed up in the coverage. I think that I’ll attribute that to the current “Two Years of Hate” going on with President Putin.
