Obamacare Supporter Reacts To Gruber

Filed under: General — Dana @ 6:11 am

[guest post by Dana]

Responding to the Gruber-those-Americans-are-so-stupid news, Obamacare supporter Ron Fournier’s view of big government has taken a big hit:

He [Gruber] called you stupid. He admitted that the White House lied to you. Its officials lied to all of us—Republicans, Democrats, and independents; rich and poor; white and brown; men and women.

Liberals should be the angriest. Not only were they personally deceived, but the administration’s dishonest approach to health care reform has helped make Obamacare unpopular while undermining the public’s faith in an activist government. A double blow to progressives.

It took him a while to get there. Back in February, he was getting tired of defending Obamacare:

Advocates for a strong executive branch, including me, have given the White House a pass on its rule-making authority, because implementing such a complicated law requires flexibility. But the law may be getting stretched to the point of breaking. Think of the ACA as a game of Jenga: Adjust one piece and the rest are affected; adjust too many and it falls.

If not illegal, the changes are fueling suspicion among Obama-loathing conservatives, and confusion among the rest of us. Even the law’s most fervent supporters are frustrated.

So, now it’s out in the open: the lies, the manipulations, the sleight of hand and parlor tricks. Maybe not all of it, but enough to know that you know that you know. Of course, some will continue to deny that the Gruber revelations mean anything, and the White House has already started distancing itself from Gruber. Be that as it may, if more Americans have an opportunity to really see what the “activism” of big government looks like when the curtain is pulled away, maybe more Americans will want less of it.

  1. Hello.

  2. fueling suspicion among Obama-loathing conservatives

If he would take the next step, and realize that much of the Obama-loathing is precisely because some of us knew he was deceiving us from the get go,
then we might get back to worthwhile discussion about the details of policy and what really does work.

But for some it will be very hard, nigh unto impossible, to admit they personally were wrong about anything, including Obama. I have heard said that it is good to get “dis-illusioned” if that is what it takes to see things as they really are, but it is a painful event for us usually.

  4. Not happy, Barry.

The list grows beyond the margins. Landrieu, Putin, Saudi Arabia, Buffett, unions, illegals, doctors, nurses,… Everyone wants a piece of you, leper.

And giving the head of a Constitutional Republic a “pass” is how he becomes a chancellor instead of a president. Even believing that as a worthy idea makes Ron Fournier a friggin’ moron. This idea (invented by and used by leftists) that our Republic can give this guy or that guy a “pass” or this company or that company an “exemption” or that one American is somehow not held to the legal standards of the rest of us has to stop. That’s why many of us, including myself, no longer respect the Law.

BTW, MD in Philly, they weren’t disillusioned, they were caught! Just like they were caught in the other lies about F&F, the IRS, the NAS all the way to man made glow-ball warming. Just this time it’s starting to stick even without the MSM. Wait till this idiot screws the pooch with illegal immigration and gives millions of anti-American law breakers citizenship. Hopefully, that’s enough to have his worthless ass dragged from office and thrown in jail where traitors belong.

  6. My source(you know the onezero) says a quarter of millenials plan on being forgiven their school loans, the yen will fall thru its modern lower limit of 120 per to 145, Saudi Arabia must be paid–as Qatar cuts production, Venezuela craters and OPEC kicks the chair away,…

Do not put off any reward you’ve promised yourself or loved ones.

The music is about to stop.

  7. You voted for him twice, Fournier, quit yer bitchin’.

  8. Well, Hoagie, you may be right that “they were not disillusioned, they were caught”, at least for many and perhaps even the majority,
but if just 1 in 10 people had thought no further than “Conservatives are mean and evil and we’re the good guys” are helped to think twice about that, then that will be good.

  9. It’s hard to have sympathy for a guy that says basically ‘I believed your lies for as long as I realistically could…’ Still, it’s refreshing after all the Lemieux drones who refuse to give up the ghost…

  11. House “committees will have new leadership, Mitchell said, with Wisconsin Republican Rep. Paul Ryan stepping up to chair Ways and Means, and, she hopes, Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan with Oversight. Jordan would be replacing term-limited California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa.”

    Now, that is special.

  12. The best thing about the Gruber comments is that they are so plain, even a liberal can’t spin around them.

  14. this will probably result in a groundswell of liberal anger directed at the Obama Administration’s dishonest tactics as well as their undermining of the public’s faith in activist government

Wait till this idiot screws the pooch with illegal immigration and gives millions of anti-American law breakers citizenship.

People are confusing legal residency with citizenship. Citizenship is something can’t give. He can’t even give people permanent residency. He can’t even give them quasi-legal residency that lasts beyond the next Presidential election.

    Only Congress can do that.

  18. Can’t you hear the 2016 Democrat campaign promises now. Elect me and I’ll extend your right to remain in the US and you’ll have access to free food, phones, welfare, and healthcare. You don’t need no stinkin’ citizenship, make sure enough Democrats are elected to Congress and Affirmative Action will take care of you forever.

  19. Where’s that banned troll (you know the one, living in DE) to say ObamaCare bends the cost curve down and you shouldn’t listen to Gruber talk about people being stupid for believing in ObamaCare because he wasn’t in Congress and besides he’s a plant (take a breath) you right-wing fringe-ists…
