President Obama: Apathy Keeps Minorities From Polls
[guest post by Dana]
President Obama made an interesting and provocative admission today during a radio interview with Rev. Al Sharpton when discussing voter i.d. laws:
“Most of these laws are not preventing the overwhelming majority of folks who don’t vote from voting,” Obama said during an interview with Rev. Al Sharpton. “Most people do have an ID. Most people do have a driver’s license. Most people can get to the polls. It may not be as convenient, it may be a little more difficult.”
“The bottom line is, if less than half of our folks vote, these laws aren’t preventing the other half from not voting,” Obama said. “The reason we don’t vote is because people have been fed this notion that somehow it’s not going to make a difference. And it makes a huge difference.”
It’s ironic, too, considering the Obama Justice Dept. charge that voter i.d laws suppress (Democratic) voters by placing undue hardships on poor and minority voters, as well as Holder’s own claims of voter i.d. laws amounting to a poll tax.
On a side note, commenter Charlotte made a smart observation on the Supreme Court Allows Texas Voter I.D. Law thread:
How is it that Mozambique, with a per capita GDP of $ 435 and an illiteracy rate of 48%, has just held an election requiring photo ID for its electorate, but so many on the left baulk when similar requirements are legislated in the US.

Societal safety net. In a poor country, stupidity can be a capital offense. In a fat welfare state, stupid people are enabled.
nk (dbc370) — 10/21/2014 @ 9:16 pmOMG I think against all odds he said something I agree with. Since it was on the radio, though, are we absolutely certain it was Obama speaking with Sharpton and not some impostor or a fill in just pretending to be Barry?
elissa (aba09a) — 10/21/2014 @ 9:21 pmI totally agree with the President. I feel faint and will call for the smelling salts.
Ag80 (eb6ffa) — 10/21/2014 @ 9:32 pmWho cleaned up the mess when Sharpton’s head exploded?
JVW (60ca93) — 10/21/2014 @ 9:57 pm“The reason we don’t vote is because people have been fed this notion that somehow it’s not going to make a difference. And it makes a huge difference.”
The media has been saturated all of my life with “get out the vote” messages, from the earnest public service announcements on local TV to the vapid celebrities who participate in mind-junk like MTV’s Rock the Vote. Who exactly is telling Americans — especially minority Americans — that their vote doesn’t matter? Another Obama strawman faces Dear Leader’s torch.
JVW (60ca93) — 10/21/2014 @ 10:03 pmThe very fact Democrats/liberals — black or white (I recall Hillary “Sniper-Fire” Clinton making a pilgrimage to Sharpton’s office in New York City back in 2008) — nonchalantly or even joyfully hang out and shoot the breeze with contemptible characters like Al Sharpton speaks volumes about what modern-day liberalism (assuming it what less odious 50 or more years ago) is all about.
Mark (c160ec) — 10/21/2014 @ 10:06 pm“The bottom line is, if less than half of our folks vote, these laws aren’t preventing the other half from not voting,” Obama said. “
And if places like the city of Detroit, etc, etc, were 90-plus percent Republican/conservative instead of 90-plus percent Democrat/liberal, Obama would heartily support the idea of people (or “our folks”) staying home on election day.
Mark (c160ec) — 10/21/2014 @ 10:10 pmCould somebody clarify for me — WHO exactly was the President of these United States referring to when he said, “our folks”?
Because, as President of this great land, his job is to “preserve, protect, and defend” the Constitution and the Country; meaning ALL of us. Right?
So, “our folks” is a transparent and inclusive word, and it DEFINITELY includes ME, right?
Why then, do I feel that somehow I’m really not one of the “us” he (and that vile other person on the radio, who I believe should be shunned and completely disregarded) was talking about…?
A_Nonny_Mouse (8c7dd0) — 10/21/2014 @ 10:11 pmANM,
He means black people.
Kevin M (b357ee) — 10/21/2014 @ 11:15 pmKevin M – but isn’t Pres’ent Obama a partisan partial person of pallor, per se ?
Alastor (2e7f9f) — 10/21/2014 @ 11:38 pmNo, he’s a nattering nabob of negativism, in so many respects.
Kevin M (b357ee) — 10/21/2014 @ 11:49 pmRIP – Ben Bradlee. Given the way the WaPo covers up for Obama’s crimes, he enters the grave spinning.
Kevin M (b357ee) — 10/21/2014 @ 11:51 pmDemocracy is a big fat disaster, just ahead of the Norks, Cuba and Zimbbwe.
gary gulrud (46ca75) — 10/22/2014 @ 1:10 amIf government would give id to vote to all registered voters their would be no problem. But then that would not stop democrats from voting which is the purpose of these laws. The only in person voting fraud they ever find are republican convicted fellons trying to vote! In arizona they tried to pay an illegal alien to vote but he got scared and chickened out!
voter (3debfb) — 10/22/2014 @ 1:22 amVoter : I suggest that you broaden your search horizons. I started working elections in 1948 as a runner for the Bronx (NY) local Democratic machine. Until I moved from New York City in 1983, I “worked” every election except when I was in service. Although I started as a Democrat, I ended up a Republican. There has been voter fraud in every election that I worked and that voter fraud is much greater today since the anti-fraud abilities of poll watchers has been severely limited. When I started as a Democratic poll watcher, we had 3×5 cards on every registered voter in our election district and had updated that information by visiting the home of every registered voter just prior to the election. Of course, we were only interested in preventing Republican voter fraud but the Republican poll watchers had their own 3×5 cards and had conducted similar surveys. The major reason you have only heard about Republican attempts at voter fraud is that, in the cities, the Democratic prosecutors & judges allow Democratic violators to plea bargain to a lesser charge or dismiss the charges altogether. There was so much massive voter fraud in Miami/Dade County and other cities in Florida in the late 1990s that the Democratic governor and the two Democratic controlled houses of the Florida legislature passed legislation to prevent or limit voter fraud. Their attempt did not work – Florida elected a Republican governor and both houses went Republican. Also Google Congressman Bob Dornan of California & voter fraud.

When the Dem party gets U.S. GDP down to $435 and our illiteracy rate at 48 percent, they’ll be _happy_ to require a voter ID.
Consul-At-Arms (f4574f) — 10/22/2014 @ 4:58 amWell, duh! Clearly, if they didn’t vote, they haven’t been prevented from not voting.
Eric Wilner (3936fd) — 10/22/2014 @ 5:07 amThis is the super-smart guy?
The IDs are obviously not the issue. After all, Obola is going to issue 34 million green cards to the illegal immigrants swarming across our southern border, and these new Democrats will routinely and proudly carry them. So as I say, the IDs are not the issue. It’s just that they can’t use this form of ID to vote. The simple solution (for Democrats) is no ID, but the fall back position, plan B as they say, isn’t too bad. With just a little work, these green cards can be turned into drivers licenses and then the voter registrarion card is just a signature and a prejury away.
bobathome (5ccbd8) — 10/22/2014 @ 5:37 amWhat does voting Democrat get you in Baltimore, Chicago, New Orleans or Los Angeles, does it get you better jobs, better schools for your kids,

With “motor voter,” that’s easy enough, since people can register at the DMV, the same place they get their driver’s licenses; the equipment is already there, in place.
Of course, in Virginia, where the DMV practices affirmative action for special education students, it might still be a problem.
OK, OK, that’s terrible, and I denounce myself.
The Dana who votes (f6a568) — 10/22/2014 @ 6:45 amTo the radical left-wing Marxist currently known as voter, some examples of the fraud perpetrated by your minions. Just like ballots suddenly appearing in someone’s trunk to get that s5itbag Franken fraudulently elected, just a few other instances.
We all are quite aware that since the late 50’s-early 60’s the democraps have held a vice-like grip on many big cities. We are also painfully aware of their propensity to commit fraud in elections both local and national. You know it too unless you’re too much of a damn liar to admit it. Then again you’ve been stuck on stupid so long it has become your way of life. In the dictionary under the word “dumbass” is your picture. I believe it was the democraps in Chicago who had the mantra; “vote early, vote often”. Exactly what does that mean to you, voter? To me it means commit fraud.
The only person not for voter ID is a person who is cheating or intends to cheat. And if you believe your constituents are too stupid to get an ID then I submit they should no longer vote for your party. Any party which shows such low respect for it’s voters does not deserve them.
Hoagie (4dfb34) — 10/22/2014 @ 6:54 amYou make pointing out your lies and radical left Marxist agenda like shooting democraps in a barrel, voter! Try Google once in a while.
Hoagie (4dfb34) — 10/22/2014 @ 7:18 amThat is an odd admission.
Because according to Mean Girl’s DoJ minorities don’t vote because they’re intellectually inferior to whites.
