Mike K (90dfdc) — 8/22/2014 @ 12:14 pmObama should be dealing with his enemies in ferguson missouri not the middle east! He should be bombing the ferguson police dept. and the county prosecutors office. Why did cop refuse to make police report of brown shooting sighting 5th amendment.

Milhouse (7999ec) — 8/22/2014 @ 12:58 pmPerryJustin is illiterate as well as evil. Oh, and you just gave the reason, sh*thead: the fifth amendment. To the constitution of the United States of America. Of which Missouri is one.I have been told that in Philly (actually I mentioned this before in another thread), police officers in an incident that will be reviewed by the DA routinely do not write anything because of 5th Amendment rights, but they are required to give a verbal report to their supervisor or they get fired automatically. This verbal report to their super is not admissible in court, but it does give the police an idea of how to proceed themselves as a department. I do not know how widespread this policy is across the nation, but it is standard policy and does not necessarily reflect one way or another on the individual obeying the policy.
MD in Philly (f9371b) — 8/22/2014 @ 1:13 pmMD, if there is such a policy, then I’m sure this unofficial report is also strictly off the record, and the supervisor is doing the right thing in not talking about it or admitting that it ever happened.
Milhouse (7999ec) — 8/22/2014 @ 1:39 pmOff topic, but not really: The rocket that killed the 4-year-old Israeli boy today was fired from a UNRWA school. Not from outside the school but from inside the school grounds. What I want to know is why the school still exists. Why was it not flattened five minutes after this was determined? When is Netanyahu going to stop playing games?
Milhouse (7999ec) — 8/22/2014 @ 1:51 pmYour news is later than mine. I only read about the rocket that missed a school, where people also were protected.
Hamas seems to be shooting off all their remaining rockets.
They didn’t flatten the school because it is pointless now.
What I want to know is why Qatar is left alone in this. Qatar ordered Hamas to do this. That’s where the responsibility truly lies.

Senior Fatah Source: Qatar Pushed Hamas Back to War
Hamas reportedly tried to get Qatar involved in truce talks; when Egypt refused Qatar ordered Mashaal to reject truce or be expelled.
This is apparently what Khaled Mashaal told Mohammed Abbas when he visited him in Qatar.
Sammy Finkelman (d22d64) — 8/22/2014 @ 2:37 pmDuring World War II, the British forced a change of government in both Iran and Iraq, because the governments there were not real Allies and too close to the Nazis. In Iraq it took some fighting.
Sammy Finkelman (d22d64) — 8/22/2014 @ 2:39 pmA Hamas official admitted or climed responsibility for killing the three boys in June — at some kind of a conference being held in Turkey.
Sammy Finkelman (d22d64) — 8/22/2014 @ 2:40 pmCorrection, I just noticed that the Algemeiner story actually says the rocket was fired from “nearby the grounds of a school “. That’s a locution I don’t think I’ve ever come across before, but it contradicts the headline, which is not surprising, but is disappointing.
Milhouse (7999ec) — 8/22/2014 @ 2:47 pmCorrection to the correction: It appears that the original version I saw said “from” the school, and they then corrected it to “near”.

It’s this kind of ridiculous overreaction (1 vs ~3000 dead) that ISIS is counting on. Or maybe we’re just bored.
nops (1467a4) — 8/22/2014 @ 8:22 pmMaybe you are just brain dead.
Steve57 (99bd31) — 8/22/2014 @ 8:27 pmWherein was the overreaction, nops? The Secret Service told Bush what was going on, but they needed a few minutes to form up the convoy to take him to the airport. So he kept reading to the kids until they could leave.
As opposed to Preezy “Not my problem your kid just got beheaded” Obama. Who couldn’t stay out of the limelight and off the golf course long enough for the Foley’s to complete their press availability.
I hear he likes playing cards with Reggie Love when Islamists overrun and burn our diplomatic facilities. Couldn’t he have had the decency to stay inside and out of sight while the Foley’s paid tribute to their son?
Steve57 (99bd31) — 8/22/2014 @ 8:33 pmAll in all, I prefer a President who will stay in a Florida school reading “My Pet Goat” long enough to prepare to take charge of a situation than a President who can’t wait to run out of Martha’s Vineyard school to make his tee time while pretending a situation doesn’t exist.
Steve57 (99bd31) — 8/22/2014 @ 8:42 pmTime interviewed the kids in that classroom, a decade later, they were very impressed, unlike the portrait painted by Michael Moore, who also made a big deal about the golf thing, even though he gave it up in September of 2003,
narciso (ee1f88) — 8/22/2014 @ 8:58 pmThe overreaction? It’s thinking that 9/11 is anything like this. Were you around back then? I don’t think you had to be. You can just look it up and try to imagine it. But maybe you have a hard time wiht that.
nops (1467a4) — 8/22/2014 @ 9:09 pmnops, I was around years before 9/11. So I know what a Clinton-era disaster in-the-making looks like.
Like Al-Qaeda did back in the early ’90s. Like Prom Queen insisting ISIS is just the JV team a few months ago.
I’ve seen this movie, junior, and you and people like you always screw things up. And then you and people like you try to blame everyone else for your mess.
You’re not getting away with it again.
Steve57 (99bd31) — 8/22/2014 @ 9:24 pmThis was a scheduled presser responding to an event that happened the day before. No comparison.
Gazzer (b21aba) — 8/22/2014 @ 9:25 pmNot like this is a Clinton-sized disaster in the making. This is worse.
Steve57 (99bd31) — 8/22/2014 @ 9:28 pmGroup is Islamic. Group kills men, women and children in genocidal fashion. Group puts heads on pikes and threatens more of same. So true Narciso. ISIS has had control of the major dam in Iraq, and has calculated not to destroy it for destructions sake. Clearly those who lead or control ISIS have some command and control ideas and plans. The intellectual thoughts that you bring forward are real and profoud, BUT, at some point the entire world has to and will engage ISIS. It is not possible for ISIS/ISIL to prevail in the long run, unless we are DOOOOOOOMED.
Gus (70b624) — 8/22/2014 @ 10:25 pmthen there’s classic AQ:

I don’t know that they have cells anywhere outside of Syria and Iraq except maybe the Gaza Strip, and Sinai. The Caliph Ibrahim did not manage to get most of the old al Qaeda network to change their loyalty to him.
Sammy Finkelman (13370e) — 8/24/2014 @ 9:14 amObama probably has issued somewhat contradictory directives.
Not the boots on the ground thing – that almost makes sense – send high ranking officers not privates or sergeants.
Oe thinbg is he is going to have to reverse himself.
He is going to bomb in syria – now he’s going to ry to hit only supply lines into Iraq, but still bomb.
A political settlement in Syria will not be necessary to attack ISIS.
If it is not necessary in Syria, it wasn’t necessary in Iraq either.
Sammy Finkelman (13370e) — 8/24/2014 @ 9:48 amThe story that U.S. intelligence is apparently believing is that private people – not the government- in Qatar were giving money to ISIS to protect themselves.

This release was brokered, or ordered, by Qatar.
The safe way to release him was at a UN checkpoint at the Golan Heights and he flew back too the United States out of Tel Aviv.
So Qatar, which ordered Hamas to resume firing, now ordered Hamas to stop.
They may also be worried, or even have been warned, about consequences.
