Paul George – Devastating Leg Injury

Filed under: General — JD @ 8:29 pm

Stop watching at the 1:00 mark of you don’t want to watch this.

This has the possibility to be a career changing, if not career ending injury. It reminded me of Theisman’s, or Kevin Ware. But worse.

It is such a shame, done while competing for a roster spot to represent the US.

  4. How can we allow our chillllllldren to play such a dangerous game?

  5. I hope that he will be able to walk again. I think it unlikely he’ll be able to play competitively.

What is worth doing that doesn’t involve risk?

  10. From what I see it was a break in the middle of the shin bone.
According to The secrets of Thunder Shin(video) it should heal up stronger than ever.

  11. Ouch
I hope US Basketball insures these players very very well.

On the dangerous game notes, there was a news piece about a mysterious lake that popped up overnight in the Tunisian desert. People came from all over to swim and wade. A journalist wanted to know why the Tunisian government did not close the area due to safety concerns… one of the concerns was “no lifeguards”.
    Really?
Every piece of water gets a lifeguard now?
$5 says the journalist was educated in the Western world, possibly in NYC when Bloomberg was running things
If people drown, the proper government response would be limited to helping recover the body (if necessary) and maybe putting out a statement reminding people to learn to swim.

But specifically to Obama and basketball, he is not athletic enough to hurt himself like that.
I saw a clip of him playing against some US Army guys and he sucks. Can’t shoot even when uncontested. Can’t jump. Can’t defend. Slow. There are probably 5 guys down in the local 50+ mens rec league that could embarrass him. Repeatedly.

  12. Well.
Nice work I did there with the link

  13. Steveg – the video where he missed like 18+ uncontested 12 footers was hysterical.

    I have that same problem.

There’s also a malfeasance component to the story. Any other stadium, practice yard, streetball pickup game, that George might have played in, the stanchion that caused his injury would have been two feet further away from the court.

You’re all lawyers here right? Someone better go chase that ambulance quick.

  15. Truth be told, I’d have to play for a while to shoot well again.
Broke my wrist in an accident and it was set crooked. After I got out of the cast I went to the free throw line and shot- boom – three feet to the left.
Reminds me about trying to teach my nephew how to hit the toilet when peeing…

If you do phased impact training you can develop scar tissue that makes the area stronger than ever . . .
And give yourself arthritis before you are 40.

If you actually like walking like a normal human being in cold and humid weather, avoid the bat breaking level shin conditioning at all costs.

Second dumbest choice I ever made.

Yeah, but I haven’t seen you on TV making a fool of yourself.

Like many others I racked up lots of injuries when I was younger and just didn’t know when to quit that, now at this stage in life, are coming back to bite me with a vengeance.

With me it’s not so much my wrist, as the one that never healed right is the left. It’s my shoulders, which makes my arms feel like they’re attached to my body with old rubber bands, sound like bowls of Rice Crispies, and just sleeping wrong aggravates the injuries.

The point isn’t to complain, as I did it to myself. The point is, you won’t see me on TV trying to display abilities I just don’t have.

I guess the larger point is I know I can’t do certain things. The Narcissist-in-Chief apparently lacks that level of awareness. Normally I would be amused by the unintentional comedy that inevitably ensues. But with President Kardashian, it’s just not funny anymore.

  21. I read somewhere that Obama felt like his game was “too black’ for his high school coach… thus the whole riding the pine experience.
    So obama is doubly delusional.
    He thinks he has game
He thinks his game looks “black”
No he has no game against any real competition
No his game does not look black
His game looks like it belongs deep on the bench in a crap suburban league made up of old white guys

  22. If I were the owner of a professional sports organization, I would never allow my players to participate in these phony exhibitions. The results are obvious.

I’m all for Americans proving their ability on the sporting field. I’m also for amateurs proving their worth and professionals earning a paycheck.

It’s about time that the USOC and other sports organizations to stop using professional athletes to prove we’re the best. Of course professionals are the best. What is the point of proving it in international competition?
