‘Vets Die Waiting For Treatment While Pentagon Moves Ahead With Manning Sex Change’
[guest post by Dana]
As we were discussing International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia, I was reminded of an enraging tie-in between that and the V.A. scandal wherein our veterans are quite literally, in some cases, dying while waiting for treatment.
In the wake of an ever-burgeoning “wait for them to die” scandal within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the heavy hitters in the Obama Administration have made their priorities known; specifically, while accusations swirl of purposeful lack of medical attention to vets have resulted in needless deaths, the head honcho himself for the Department of Defense (DoD)greased the skids for a convicted turncoat to receive a taxpayer subsidized sex change operation. As reported on May 14, 2014 by both the Toronto, Canada-based The Globe and Mail and also the USA TODAY news portal, convicted renegade soldier Bradley Manning could soon be transferred to a civilian hospital on the orders the Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, according to two Pentagon officials speaking on grounds of anonymity.
In an announcement by Pentagon press secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby, “the Secretary approved a request by Army leadership to evaluate potential treatment options for inmates diagnosed with gender dysphoria.” If and when approved, Manning will be transferred from the Leavenworth, Kansas military prison (officially deemed the United States Disciplinary Barracks) to a yet to be identified civilian hospital for Manning’s sexual reassignment surgery. Reportedly, Secretary Hagel personally gave the official thumb’s up last month for the Army “to try to work out a transfer plan with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, which does provide such treatment.”
As a reminder, Bradley “Chelsea” Manning was sentenced to 35-years in Leavenworth after being found guilty of “six Espionage Act violations and 14 other offences for giving Wikileaks [Julian Assange] more than 700,000 secret military and U.S. State Department documents, along with battlefield video.”
Also, the costs incurred by such a surgery ranges from a total of $40,000 to $50,000 for “mid-range transition, including surgery.” Monthly hormone therapy can run anywhere from from $25 to $200.
The priorities of this administration are clear. And it is to their collective shame and disgrace.

Transgender study looks at ‘exceptionally high’ suicide-attempt rate
It’s a complete mystery.
On the one hand, people who are confused about their gender identity seek counseling. This is a cruel hoax inflicted upon them.
They suffer high suicide rates.
On the other hand, people who are confused about their gender identity seek surgery. This is compassionate mutilation.
They suffer high suicide rates.
Steve57 (c8cb20) — 5/17/2014 @ 6:59 pmchelsea needs hormones or else her boobies won’t develop normally
happyfeet (8ce051) — 5/17/2014 @ 7:00 pmDoes anyone really imagine that any amount of surgery and hormone therapy will solve “Chelsea” Manning’s issue?
Steve57 (c8cb20) — 5/17/2014 @ 7:02 pmI realize though, Mr. feets, that Chelseas boobies developing will solve some issues for guys serving life sentences with no possibility of parole.
Steve57 (c8cb20) — 5/17/2014 @ 7:04 pmChuck Hagel is a big believer in Team Tranny Mr. 57
happyfeet (8ce051) — 5/17/2014 @ 7:05 pmIt was probably that R&R in Thailand back during the Vietnam war, Mr. feets.

Well, if the shoe fits, wear it.
^ Why isn’t the left doing its own part in proclaiming such information to the onlooking world? After all, in their ethos and mindset, GLBT (and, for that matter, hip and cool drug use too) is a wonderful, beautiful thing. Correct? Uh-huh.
Mark (99b8fd) — 5/17/2014 @ 7:11 pmWait for the habeas corpus petition with the argument that Chelsea is not responsible for what Bradley did and she should be set free.
nk (dbc370) — 5/17/2014 @ 7:13 pmAnd his lawyer would be missing a bet if, in the intermediated stages of the transformation, he did not bring a 1983 petition on the grounds that either a men’s or women’s prison violates the Eighth Amendment for a person in his condition and he should be released on parole during the treatment.
nk (dbc370) — 5/17/2014 @ 7:30 pmSpeaking of vets.
Hashtags don’t liberate hostages. We do.
Steve57 (c8cb20) — 5/17/2014 @ 8:10 pmI’m all for people cutting their peters off for whatever reason. Who am I to judge? But why the heck do I have to pay for it?
Ag80 (eb6ffa) — 5/17/2014 @ 8:21 pmI do think Manning might live longer locked up with the wimmyns.
gary gulrud (e2cef3) — 5/17/2014 @ 8:25 pmWill the wimmyns ask Manning to strap it up?

Glenn (58e9b8) — 5/17/2014 @ 8:57 pmSince when does the federal government have either a legal or moral obligation to pander to a mentally ill person’s delusions?
Dale (ceba68) — 5/17/2014 @ 9:09 pmIt’s no longer supposed to be a delusion, or a crazy idea, but, provided that some care has been taken in thinking it through (basically that the person won’t change their mind and decide it was a mistake, which includes proceeding carefully and slowly, in steps) medically indicated.
Not that that’s actually correct.

The VA thing … it’s good that we were so well trained. We haven’t been ordered to eliminate D.C., and they go on as if nothing’s changed. They believe … who knows what they believe other than that they’re safe because we’re protecting them.

How S*** Happens
Actually anybody who wants to know how government works should read it.
Steve57 (c8cb20) — 5/18/2014 @ 6:26 amNear-infinite money buys near-infinite government. And how does the organizational dynamic of bureaucrats with near-infinite money behave? The Iron Law of Bureaucracy says they will expand their power and control until some other power stops them. Back when government spending was limited by what the taxpayers were willing to pay for, the primary constraint upon government was that there simply was not enough money to fund every foolish bureaucratic desire. So, government tended to be forced to pay attention to its legal and Constitutional responsibilities first in proper priority. Now, with near-infinite money, there are far fewer spending constraints, and thus it is far easier for bureaucracies to run amok.
Secondly, bureaucracies can even entertain their darkest worries about what threats might challenge their powers. Thus we see the rise in private bureaucrat armies. What founding father would have thought that the government’s own property management agency, the Bureau of Land Management, would need a sniper team? How else do we explain the auditors for the Department of Education really need to carry sidearms?
Third, in a world of electronic information, government has given itself permission to destroy the meaning of the Fourth Amendment, just in case someone comes to their attention.
Every day more people are coming to the judgment that a carefully organized effort to repair the constitution via the States’ power to propose and ratify amendments has less risk to our liberty and prosperity than the present trajectory of the federal government and especially the federal bureaucracy.
