Jeopardy Champion Ken Jennings Mocks Andrew Breitbart’s Death on Twitter

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 8:48 pm

Ken Jennings, the record-holder for consecutive Jeopardy wins, on Twitter:

Oddly enough, at dinner my children asked me the difference between intelligence and wisdom.

My answer began like this: “Funny you should ask . . .”

  4. From what I’ve heard of him, Andrew was the type of person who would be relishing this and laughing at Ken Jennings over this.

  5. There’s a difference between intelligence and a head full of books, too. And between learning and merely remembering. And none necessarily lead to reason.

  6. obamacare is super-expensive and you get a crappy choice of doctors and if you sign up for it you’ll end up dying of an oozing infection in a squalid government hospital, smelling like rot

  7. Jennings is the typical kid who was teased and bullied at school for being such a quizbowl nerd*, so now that he is somewhat well-known he can’t help but try to ingratiate himself with the “cool” kids by parroting their empty-headed politics. Too bad a guy at his age and with his accomplishments still feels the need to try so hard to get invited to the popular lunch table.

    * Full disclosure: I was a quizbowl nerd in high school.

  8. We’ve probably all known people like Jennings… very intelligent, but not smart enough to resist the temptation to strike a total douchebag pose.

  9. Breitbart’s genius was to expose evil hidden in the breasts of seemingly good folks. He veritably commanded they declare themselves, as in a Rite of Exorcism.

To me, the single most crucial element when trying to fight evil is to know where it lays latent. Once identified, the good guys win.

Andrew won yet again. That he did so from his grave is most gratifying.

  13. When he’s called out on it he says hey don’t blame the messenger it was actually Andrew Breitbart’s ghost what made the tweet.

But if you look at the original tweet you can clearly see this tweet came from Ken Jennings’ *personal* account (that only he would have the log-in credentials for).

    This makes NO sense.

Ken Jennings is LYING. There is no “Andrew Breitbart’s ghost.”

    This is all Ken.

And he should be held accountable I think.

  14. The difference between knowledge and wisdom is knowledge is knowing what you should do, and wisdom is actually doing it.

  15. Ken Jennings must have gone to the Emperor School of Loverlyness. Haven’t seen a comment from the Limperor here in awhile. Has he lost interest in remarking here because he can’t cyberstalk Aaron? Well, that’s all the interest I can feign wrt that @$$h0l3. Next!

  16. Jennings is the typical attention whore who seizes a chance to be in the spotlight whenever possible – he’s pulled some pretty dick moves over the years to launch himself from time to time. This is just the latest. A later tweet advises he’s going to be on Jeopardy again in the future, which came as a surprise to me, since I didn’t realize they actually had a Tournament of Douchebags.

  17. This is a brilliant SMASH-DOWN on the GOPs favorite party-whore (Malkin on Fox) and the ghost of Breitbart should be jealous that an intellectual giant like Jennings takes time to bitch-slap the Koch-sucking sheeple. Made. My. Day.

I admire being loyal to one’s family members, even when the kin are utter horse’s asses. You’ve served your purpose, Kevin, now go away.

  20. I can’t recall–what’s he do for a living, other than live off his 5 minutes of fame? I guess he’s a living example of the difference between book smarts and real intelligence.

  21. Here’s a few questions for Ken Jennings:

Did Andrew Breitbart’s sudden death the evening before he was to submit videos fulfilling his previously announced promise to vet Barack Obama prior to the 2012 elections seem a bit suspicious?

Did the sudden death of LA County Forensic Technician, Michael Cormier, who participated in Breitbart’s autopsy and was scheduled to present a final report about the cause of Breitbart’s untimely death seem a bit suspicious?

Since Cormier died of poisoning and suicide was ruled out as a cause, is it possible the two deaths are connected? If so, does the trail lead back to the White House?

  23. We should all aspire to the hatred of truly bad people, as childlike and simplistic as it sounds. We should also, as Breitbart did, come at them with a smile.

In any event, Jennings evidently views himself as a hero of the Left. He’s a troll with a taste for celebrity and equipped with a massive ego. He craves the approval of his like-minded pals. So how do we deal with such men?

Ridicule. I’m betting that–like President Obama–this Jennings guy is as thin-skinned as it gets. There is nothing–nothing–on this planet such empty men fear and dislike more than laughter at their expense. That’s the stuff of their nightmares because underneath the overinflated egos and grandiosity is a big, burning, writhing ball of insecurities.

That’s my take on things, anyway.

  26. Ted Kennedy’s ghost says, “I must have been sick in the head when I backed RomneyCare and then Obama’s boondoggle!

Tastelessness can run both ways. You’d think a Jeopardy winner would be able to figure that one out.

  28. Oddly enough, at dinner my children asked me the difference between intelligence and wisdom.

Intelligence is capacity and facility in learning from books.

Wisdom is capacity and facility in learning from experience.

Suppose someone succeeded in drafting a “Wisdom Quotient” to match IQ Testing.

I cite to you that the primary defining quality of the PostModern Leftist is that they are almost uniformly in the lower third of all those members taking the WQ.

And the two are not directly correlated — you can have brilliant fools, such as Noam Chompsky, or you can have the semi-literate 70yo black man who has never been more than 100 miles from his front porch, yet still manages to understand and discuss Human Nature in a rational, intelligent manner.

Smock Puppet, "Si tacuisses, philosophus mansisses." (225d0d)

  29. Is there an honest and intelligent argument to be made for Obamacare?

If so, Jennings fails to present it, or to even suggest that he is capable of making such an argument.

    Instead, Jennings beclowns himself.

I’m not one to pretend outrage or take faux offense at Jenning’s childish taunt. It was tasteless and petty it is true, but that isn’t where he went wrong. Unable to express a coherent argument or policy position, he took a cheap shot at the memory of a dead man, and didn’t even succeed in being snarky, only in coming across as a partisan hack.

  31. Ken Jennings is living proof that being incredibly knowledgeable about different things does not make a person “smart” at all. If you can’t connect the dots in a logical sequence or problem solve using sound logic/deductive reasoning, having large amounts of data in your head means nothing…

  33. I’ve followed the guy since I got on Twitter and this is really out of character for him. So much so that I think we’re missing the point.

I’ll guess he’s trying to make a statement about putting words in the mouth of the deceased, like some dipshit on Twitter has the capacity to speak for the dead.

I’d bet money I’m right, but not a lot of money.
