Harry Reid: If You Can’t Get Through to HealthCare.Gov, It’s Because You’re Not Educated on Using the Internet

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 10:31 am

No more blaming the Obama administration officials who made the bad decisions, or even the contractors who built the Web site. No, America: if you can’t get through, it’s your own fault:

J.D. told us last night about the latest blown deadline: basically, the world is getting an extension on signing up. Why? Because the Web site was messed up for months? No. A press conference was called to explain. After talking up the virtues of setting up brick and mortar stores for people to sign up when they have been unablel to get through online, Harry Reid delivered this garbled gem:

These people need a little extra time. It’s not, the example they gave is a 63-year-old woman came into the store and she said: “I almost got it. But every time, I just about got there, it would cut me off.” We have a lot of people just like this, through no fault of the Internet, because people are not educated on how to use the Internet.

Stupid Americans. Please get educated on how to deal with a federal monstrosity of a Web site, will you? We’re giving you one last chance. Try not to screw it up this time.

  3. The connection problem must be at their end.

To assume otherwise would be to assume a Democratic president, or maybe state officials, could blunder. Maybe they are using the wrong browser or something.

Even now, Medicare and health insurance is kind of tricky:

  4. Americans are too stupid to know what’s good for them and they’re too stupid to sign up for the expensive mandatory stuff we tell them is good for them.

    Vote Democrat

  5. He’s really kind of a dick isn’t he?

Considering they’re trying to entice the “young invincibles” to sign up to subsidize this mess, insulting their internet skilz is a very weird way to do it. LOL

  6. First, we have VP Biden who has made so many gaffes most people don’t take him seriously anymore.
Second, we have President Obama saying that Russia took Crimea in a show of weakness and we are not entering another Cold War as Russia doesn’t control a bloc of nations like the USSR did (I just heard him say it with my own ears).
Third, we have Sen. Reid saying that ObamaCare sob stories are all lies, the Koch brothers have taken over George W. Bush as the main obstacle to Utopia, and that ObamaCare is great, it’s just that Americans are too stoopid to use the internet. (I bet the same families that were so stooped they got lost in Erak).

With anything other than a totally corrupt and bankrupt media, these people would have been laughed out of office long ago.

  8. This would make a good SNL skit, along the lines of “Mastermind.”

Picture Harry Reid lecturing a crowd of teenagers on how to root an iPad.

  11. I bet Harry Reid still gives his grandchildren quarters to go play Pac-Man at their local arcade !

    “Hey Grandpa, what’s Pac-Man ? What’s an arcade ?”

  12. Good thing Harry learned how to use the ‘net, otherwise, how would he engage in his pedophilia.

  14. Senator Reid is absolutely right! Given that a majority of the voters in this country twice elected Barack Hussein Obama to be President of the United States, I’d say that there’s plenty of evidence that there is a majority who are too uneducated and/or — usually and — too stupid to be able to use the internet, or be of much use for anything, anywhere.

  15. But wait! Isn’t one of the big problems that the young and healthy are not signing up in numbers that will make the thing financially viable? So these young and healthy are the ones who don’t know enough about the internet to deal with a crappy website…? I’m having a bit of trouble with that.

I’m thinking its more that they don’t want the insurance, they want to keep their money for things they actually need. The push-back of the deadline only gives their mothers more time to nag them into signing up.

  16. Why are Democrats compelled to marginalize Americans? And why are marinalized Americans compelled to vote for Democrats?

Harry Reid belittling Americans as technologically incompetent.

David Axelrod belittling Americans as not able to understand the word dystopian when Rand Paul uses it.

  17. marinalized marginalized.

  18. What Dana said @15. Democrats are constantly calling the voters stupid. And racist. Let me cite an authoritative source:

Democratic pols and staffers really do believe voters are too stupid and racist (and every other “-ist” or “-phobic” you can think of) to be allowed to live their own lives. They need Democrats to order them around.

And the people they insult keep voting them back into office.

  19. So, Harry Reid is admitting that hiring all those “navigators” who were supposed to help people like those he’s talking about was a colossal waste of money? crashes on Sebelius

I found a couple of those government workers who aren’t educated on using the internet.

  20. Well the Ghostbusters explanation about Dana Barrett’s apartment suffices ‘no one ever built
    it like that’

  21. So, Mr. Reid and his co-conspirators spend a gazillion dollars on a web site that doesn’t work, and we’re the stupid ones?

Well, I guess he’s right. ‘Cos we’re the ones paying for it. Coming and going.
