  7. Also the CIS says that Ryan is the most open border proponent in all of congress. He’s even left of Raul Grijalva would you believe?

  9. I know a lot of liberals and not a single one of them know of Matt Yglesias or Slate. They put the low information in low-information voter.

  10. Ag80, or is that even LIVs have standards?

    Comment by Gazzer (74e832) — 12/15/2013 @ 7:38 pm

  11. Gazzer:

LIVs have standards. They just don’t pay enough attention to know when their standards are offended.

  12. Ag80, I didn’t know Matt Yglesias from Julio Iglesias until a couple of months ago? (When there was a post here about him wanting to be the White House dogwalker or something.) Why should anyone know or care who he is? He sounds like unpretty, worthless, lowlife trash to me.

  14. nk:

We all spend a lot of time paying attention to people who live and work in Washington, L.A. or New York.

Like it or not we, as a people, have created a pseudo-bourgeois class that has influence simply because of the school they attended.

We are the people who work to provide the capital for the liberal elite as they declare us idiots for not attending their schools or joining their cause.

I really, really, do not mean to sound as a populist, but I am getting irritated.

  15. I don’t even understand how this makes sense as a joke. Yeah, it’s disturbing and vulgar too, but it’s also extremely stupid.

What about Ryan’s plan evokes sex or teenage children? Nothing at all. I guess it’s a cheap way to get attention, much like Miley Cyrus’s recent behavior.

  16. Just when you’ve thought that someone of the Left could not be more disgusting, they set a new benchmark.

  19. This has nothing to do with Twitter, per se. Matty Yglesias is a prominent voice on the Left, writing about economics hahaha lololololol at Slate. He is someone, like wunderkind Ezra, that the Left holds up as a thinker.

  20. Actually, Dustin, it’s pretty typical. Sowell’s “Vision of the Anointed” discusses the mindset behind all this.

If you describe yourself as a “good” person, based on your politics, and someone disagrees with you, they must be…double not good. Perhaps evil, or stupid. Probably wanting other people to die out in the snow, hungry.

And it’s okay to do things to bad people like that.

Isn’t this all part of Teh Narrative™ that has been pushed relentlessly the last few decades by the MSM? Why I remember how awful it was that health care costs were going up, year after year; how unfair to working people. Now, of course, it’s okay that health care costs are going up.

We have always been at war with Eastasia.

The Narrative™ had a love child with progressivism, and Matt Yglesias is its name.

With Yglesias, I seem to smell the stink of fear from high school on him. I would bet cash money he mouthed off about the football team, and was given heads-down swirlies in the gym toilet on multiple occasions. Snark has its costs, even today.

My father always told me: don’t let your mouth write a check you aren’t prepared to cash.

Actually, while you can call it a crass, creepy, and inappropriate way of expressing it, his point is valid. Ryan thinking he can preserve his tax purity by raising “fees” instead of “taxes” is like a girl thinking she can preserve her sexual purity by having all kinds of sex but keeping her hymen intact. Using sexual metaphors in this context is common; every time we call someone a whore we’re doing that. Then there’s the old line about Republicans being like phone sex lines, because they tell us everything we want to hear about cutting spending and taxes, eliminating useless programs, etc., but at the end of the day they’re never coming over and we’re stuck with the bill. The only thing different here is that purity rings are typically something that only teenage girls have.

Oh yeah, and he once posed in arab head gear holding up a butcher knife.

    The man has imagery down.

  27. Wasn’t it Bill “Lewinsky” Clinton who made “oral sex is not sex” notorious? In a published conversation with an Arkansas State Trooper about whether oral sex was adultery; and then about his relationship with Monica, in the media and in a deposition?
