College Football Saturday

LSU vs Georgia. Horrible coach vs bad coach.

Alabama vs Ole Miss. Wake up call for the rebels.

ND vs Oklahoma. Interesting matchup of 2 stories programs.

The Ohio State University vs Wisconsin. Is the Urban Meyer 15 game winning streak in jeopardy?

Oregon vs Cal. Over/under should be somewhere around 95.

  2. Can’t wait for Wisconsin and Ohio State to beat up on each other before Northwestern gets to play both of them over the next 2 weeks.

  3. I love Northwestern’s coach.

  4. Is the Urban Meyer 15 game winning streak in jeopardy?

The win vs. FAMU didn’t count?

  5. Shouldn’t. Lol

  6. From what I saw last week, Wisconsin has a quarterback of quite limited throwing ability, which makes it difficult for even the best (3) of running backs.
But then again, White dodged 2 tacklers at the line of scrimmage with 9 men in-the-box and sailed free 50+ yards for a TD.

  7. Northwestern’s coach (Pat Fitzgerald) is a good one. I think he was a former All-American player back in his day, too.

LSU vs Georgia should be good.
Les Miles is one of the best recruiters in the country (and apparently had that reputation when he was an assistant at Michigan way back in the day, too) and he’s had a great track record of hiring top coordinators while at LSU, but some of his decision-making and his time management can really be awful at times.
One of LSU’s star running backs (Jeremy Hill) is a total thug who sucker-punched a guy in a parking lot at a bar this past summer (it’s on YouTube—it is angering to watch)and got away with little consequence. Many people think Miles should have kicked Hill off the team for that.
That being said, LSU finally has a quarterback who can pass the ball to the players wearing the same uniform as he is. Not since Matt Flynn in 2007, has LSU had a good QB.

If I were a betting man, I would bet on LSU to win today.

The Oregon VS Cal football game may result in more points being scored than the Oregon VS Cal basketball game in January.

    Programs with 2 floors?

  9. Storied, my bad. Autocorrect never helps in good ways.

Oklahoma putting it to the IRISH.
    Georgia is clearly outplaying LSU

  10. That was a fun game. Tough break, reff.

  11. JD,

Anytime a game is 44-41, as Georgia squeaked by LSU, it sounds pretty evenly matched.
Particularly when the winning team has to come from behind to win…at home.

  12. I overdosed on football today, and I’m still watching Stanford and Washington State.

  13. It was a great game JD, thanks for the plug…that was as bad a defense as we have played in years, but, give GA credit for playing well when they had to. We are still in the hunt, and I think we’ll be ok, but the season is long…

    Geaux Tigers…

  14. You too, E-Stone….I actually believed we would make that last drive, but GA saved some good stunts for the end, and we just didn’t make plays….

    Me too, DRJ…

  15. I was surprised to see how well Wisconsin was able to pass, and a bit on how well they matched up with OSU play for play for the most part.
But a few mistakes at crucial times were too much to give to a good team.

  16. And Lane Kiffin has been fired at USC. Anyone want to coach over there? Pays well, but expectations are rather high.

  17. Kiffin was a questionable choice to start with. I figured the looming sanctions made it hard to attract better candidates. That shouldn’t be a problem this time.

  18. Lame Kitten is one of the greatest enigmas of the 21st century.

I mean, the guy has yet to reach his 40th birthday, and he’s already managed to get an NFL head coaching job and two of the top college head coaching jobs in the country.

Why he’s been able to finagle such elite positions with a relatively thin resume is a mystery – perhaps Obama could shed some light on the subject – but I lost all respect for Kitten when he bleeped Tennessee after one season.

As one columnist put it, “This guy (Kitten, not Obama) was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple.”

    Whitey Nisson (aa99c0)

  19. I think Kiffin’s career has a lot to do with nepotism and connections that gave him great opportunities he wasn’t ready for.

  20. I think Kiffin’s career has a lot to do with nepotism and connections that gave him great opportunities he wasn’t ready for.

Agreed. He is the Joseph P. Kennedy II or the Lincoln Chafee of the coaching fraternity. Our left-wing friends can say he is the George W. Bush of the coaching fraternity.
