R.I.P. James Gandolfini

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 5:34 pm

Dead at 51, apparently of a massive heart attack.

The news comes as a shock. I was a Sopranos fan.

Condolences to his friends and family.

  2. Memento mori. Not terribly uplifting I guess but our time is short, and often shorter than we expected. Hug your sweeties if you’ve got’em, and look at the supermoon.

  5. Gosh, yes, RIP.

He reached the top of the mountain, at least, in his brief time.

  6. I wasn’t into the show, but the few episodes I watched, he was a great actor.

I’m sure this loss is devastating for his loved ones.

    RIP

  8. He was a good actor. Too bad he didn’t take a role playing Bobby Sands.

  10. His turn as Tiny Duffy in the not too bad “All the Kings Men” was great.

I hear he and Nelson Mandela are getting married. Jimmah’s finally over Yassir Arafat.

  14. In April a Tom Hardy movie “Animal Rescue” was filming in and around our Brooklyn neighborhood. I walk my dog every day around 6AM in the area. One morning, on his way to the set walks Gandolfiini-no entourage, no handlers, just a cup of coffee. He played with my dog for a few minutes, said “Nice dog”, with a smile and went into the set. I wished him a good day. Seemed like a gentleman on his way to work. Very sad he’s gone so young. But to his credit “The Sopranos” stand up thanks in large part to him. RIP.
