ABC News Headline: IRS Official in Charge During Tea Party Targeting Now Runs Health Care Office

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 5:55 pm

Let me repeat that, now that you have stopped rubbing your eyes:

IRS Official in Charge During Tea Party Targeting Now Runs Health Care Office

The Internal Revenue Service official in charge of the tax-exempt organizations at the time when the unit targeted tea party groups now runs the IRS office responsible for the health care legislation.

Sarah Hall Ingram served as commissioner of the office responsible for tax-exempt organizations between 2009 and 2012. But Ingram has since left that part of the IRS and is now the director of the IRS’ Affordable Care Act office, the IRS confirmed to ABC News today.

Incredible.

That word is getting a lot of use these days. At some point it will no longer mean what you thought it once meant.

Any confusion as to Timothy’s agenda at this point?

I stopped worrying about the outlaw crowd when they started promoting one of Neal’s distortions. But there’s no way to know Tim is one of them. You never know if someone is just another sockpuppet trying to start a blog war (that conflict cupid thing).

What I do hope my 80% allies on the outlaw side realize by now: if you give Obama a fair shake and just evaluate the facts, his record can be condemned compellingly. Instead of preaching to a choir, it’s possible to actually change a few minds. Allowing that a new democrat president is motivated by his own concept of good is a great way to start evaluating his administration from a position of fairness.

heir more pure politics, which resemble the Bush Derangement Syndrome, was necessary to a reasonless bunch of cheerleaders and nuts, but that’s not necessary if you’re reasonable. Assume those you disagree with are good people, because a) that’s often true, and b) any minds you change must necessarily start from a position of disagreement. You need common ground.

Honestly, there are times when I think like Mark and scratch my head at what I see as moral corruption and selfishness. Those are the times when I don’t reach anybody. The bottom line is we either change the minds of people who voted Obama, or we have given up the fight and are waving the white flag… something I’ll never do. And those folks can’t be reached by the club that obsesses for four or five years that someone allowed Obama to have any morality.

Anyway, I have been wrong a few times in thinking someone is just a fake trying to start a fight. Plainly that happens less frequently than my imagination wants to believe. But there’s use in allowing for that possibility. But does it matter? Timothy is a troll. The correct reaction is the same no matter why he’s trolling.

  17. Sarah Hall Ingram, the IRS executive in charge of the tax exempt division in 2010 when it began targeting conservative Tea Party, evangelical and pro-Israel groups for harrassment, got more than $100,000 in bonuses between 2009 and 2012.

More recently, Ingram was promoted to serve as director of the tax agency’s Obamacare program office, a position that put her in charge of the vast expansion of the IRS’ regulatory power and staffing in connection with federal health care, ABC reported earlier today.

Ingram received a $7,000 bonus in 2009, according to data obtained by The Washington Examiner from the IRS, then a $34,440 bonus in 2010, $35,400 in 2011 and $26,550 last year, for a total of $103,390. Her annual salary went from $172,500 to $177,000 during the same period.

  18. I like the ones who they’re so pissed off they try to vote twice. But when you click on the up button twice it just cancels out your vote.
So they quickly vote again for Obama to be impeached and leave it go at the one vote.

    Those are the Democrats.

Right now it’s at 10,724 upvotes for the “Obama needs to be impeached” comment. Wow.

Also w/ thousands of upvotes at the moment is this comment right beneath it; heh:

    “Dennis Miller
The difference between Obama and Nixon is that Obama will require “I am not a crook” on a prompter.”

  20. That’s funny, nook.

Of note, Miller was quick to give Obama the benefit-of-a-doubt and support him at first. The fact that Miller has such a low opinion of him now would be explained by saying he has earned it.

  23. There might be some bad apples that Obama appointed, but he is a good man who is just wants what he thinks is best for the country. This doesn’t reflect on him at all.

Whether it was meant to or not, that comes off as sarcasm.

I can’t imagine even dyed-in-the-wool liberals actually making such a statement, at least without a wink of the eye, or some subtle sheepishness, or a sense of such an opinion being full of irony and purposeful ignorance.
