Did someone put one of those ear-worm creatures from the Wrath of Khan into rubio one night when he was sleeping, or was it a pod from Invasion of the Body Snatchers?

This makes no sense. there must be positions available in the field of political consulting.

  5. It bugs me that there seems to be no enforcement mechanism for those who wish to stay in the cash economy. A lady friend who manages an upscale restaurant told me that the owner pays an illegal $20 per hour to do a thorough clean once a week. Why would that person want to become legal and pay taxes. Hell, she may even be getting food stamps for all I know! Hey America, it was fun while it lasted…

  6. 3. Yeah, I don’t get it. Roobs has got to know that working with Dhimmis on anything is a huge gamble.

Following the 2012 campaign we already know he’s a dyed-in-the-wool politician. Is this just tossing the mask away having been outed? Does he believe it will never pass the House?

Why is this gambit a winner for him? Blacks in FL can’t be for it. It won’t win him Hispanic support. What?

  15. Since we have become the defeatist party, I guess it’s understandable that so many here figure this is the death knell for conservative principles and the Republican party. But what if Rubio is right about this issue? Pessimism is fashionable in our circles, but maybe Marco Rubio deserves the benefit of the doubt here. Unless of course our side enjoys thinking that all of its bright young charismatic leaders are just sellouts in waiting.

Rubio’s okay, but he wasnt the conservative icon that people were building him up to be – of course we have to make these people citizens or send them back – its as simple as that – however the anger over this issue has divided the republicans, lost us a 1/2 dozen easy win senate seats, cost us a presidential election, cost this country dearly

I just was pointing out these purity tests seem to not fit any person.

Honestly, now that we lost nevada, delaware, colorado, West Virgina, Montana, Missouri, Indiana, and probably a few more senate seats – I can only think that the tea party people are just traitors to the american way along with the democrats.

  25. It is both remarkable and telling, that today’s brand of Conservatives, whenever one of their tribe (Marco Rubio) actually steps forward to solve a complex problem like the illegal immigration issue, that person gets vilified.

Rubio stated that he is a legislator, and considers that his job is to solve problems. Wow/Haleluja! The Senator wants to do his job, contrary to too many TEA Party types who prefer to not govern, not vote, instead filibuster and obfuscate.

If you think a little more about illegal immigration, weren’t the ancestors of these so-called immigrants actually originally natives of our old Southwest, that is, here before we bellicose Europeans and passive Africans arrived?

Think about that when you want to toss out there the term “amnesty” in some sort of a derisive manner.

  29. Marco Rubio is the designated poster boy for GOP capitulation on border security. It’s his job to sell the promise of future border enforcement in exchange for immediate amnesty for illegals.

The Welfare State depends on new taxpayers to exploit for entitlement spending and illegals will pay those taxes in exchange for permanent status now along with a path leading to eventual citizenship.

Rubio has been turned to the dark side, he’s the Emperor’s new apprentice.

I don’t usually disagree with ropelight but on this one I do. How does an “illegal” working under the table and off the books pay taxes to “support” the welfare state? I’ve heard anecdotal stories of illegals making as much as $17 an hour and collecting food stamps, public housing and many more federal programs. At $17 an hour under the table that equals $35,000 NET per year but since they file no taxes they qualify for federal programs.

illegals cannot collect anything,I agree with legals who make 15 dollars an hour a family of four can get up to 7500 from EIC, 10,000 in EBT credit and still make 27,000 andpay no fed, fica.

They have DIRECT cash support of over 17,500 and still make if both parents work at 7.50 an hour they can make 27,000 a year to the take is over 44,000.

almost a 1,000 a week with no taxes paid.

    that a fact jack

  38. Well, E.PWJ perhaps illegals can’t legally collect anything but just for the sake of arguement let’s say since they are already illegal perhaps collecting something illegally ain’t such a leap of faith.

Your example of those who are legal assumes they are working “on the books”. Trust me, I was in the restaurant business for over 30 years, that ain’t always so. Now with Obamacare those off the books will increase damatically. As will those half on/half off and those on 1099’s who don’t bother to file.

I could be wrong, I often am, I ain’t perfect.

  41. Supported Rubio for pres until Gang of 8. No longer. If he believes this crap he’s too credulous to be pres. If he’s just playing politics, he’s too sleazy. Either way, so long, Marco.

  42. Hoagie, I should have been more clear. The quid pro quo for illegals will require them to come out of the shadows and sign up to pay federal and state income taxes in exchange for permanent status now and a preferred place in the citizenship line.

  46. You bet the reality is different, daleyrocks. Some of these illegals treat the welfare system as a business opportunity to be exploited. They see entitlements the same way Mafia thugs see labor unions.

One illegal I met years ago boasted he ran a sting of phony needy families, he and his girlfriend borrowed children from friends and then went around to any number of welfare agencies and using false ID signed up for benefits. He was rolling in entitlement bucks and bragging about it openly.

Well, E.PWJ perhaps illegals can’t legally collect anything but just for the sake of arguement let’s say since they are already illegal perhaps collecting something illegally ain’t such a leap of faith.

How would anybody collect anything “off the books?” You can’t get Food Stamps “off the books” It’s everything else besides government benefits that can be “off the books.”

And appropriating somebody else’s identity would be pretty risky for something like this. It’s not like getting a 1-time income tax refund by using somebody else’s name and Social Security information, and having a debit card mailed to
an abandoned house in Florida where you set up a mailbox.

Your example of those who are legal assumes they are working “on the books”. Trust me, I was in the restaurant business for over 30 years, that ain’t always so. Now with Obamacare those off the books will increase dramatically.

Obamacare and E-Verify. Everybody but a Congressman would know that.

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  52. aww that just dosent sound constitutional does it?

That’s perfectly Constitutional. Congress has the power to create a uniform rule of naturalization.

The only thing that they cant do is declare non-citizens people the U.S. constitution says are citizens.

If you really study the constitution, I think Congress maybe only has power over naturalization – originally, it was the states maybe that had power over immigration, just like Congress has power over bankruptcy, but is not empowered to write a commercial code.

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  53. Recall the Simpson-Mazolli SHAMNESTY that graciously gave amnesty to 3-MILLION+ illegal aliens? American were promised that was supposed to be a one-time event/FIX and that the borders would be secured. The Simpson, was Allan Simpson, long time Republican senator from Wyoming. And Ronald Reagan signed the bill.

Borders secured? Never happened. We were LIED to. Simpson-Mazzoli fixed nothing and in fact spawned another 12-20 MILLION illegal aliens.

Recall that in 1996 just before the presidential election, Clinton/Gore stopped doing background checks on a few million people applying for citizenship, and green lighted them through so that they could vote (Democrat)in the upcoming election. Several in the group had extensive criminal records (which would disqualify them) and went on to commit crimes against American citizens.

Recall that the Dems attempted to push the Dream Act through Congress but it failed. Shortly thereafter, Obama twice on recorded video stated although he wanted the Dream Act, he did not have the authority to do it himself as president. Then he did just that. Where were/are the Republicans (and honest Democrats, if there are any)? The president can not pass laws, act unilaterally. Thus what he did with the Dream Act is unconstitutional – ILLEGAL. Why have the Rebuplicans not sued to stop this travesty? this illegal act by Obama? Exhibit A – Obama’s own words on tape. Exhibit B – Obama’s own words on tape.

Should this new attempt at SHAMNESTY pass, who or what will administer it? No one. Any and all who apply will simply be green lighted.

WAKE UP AMERICA. There ain’t really much difference between the Dems & Repubs – there is really one party – and they are having it on us! GLZ.

    Gary L. Zerman (7d32a2)

  54. Comment by Gary L. Zerman (7d32a2) — 4/15/2013 @ 11:49 am

    Borders secured? Never happened.

And never will. Because we’re not North Korea.

Borders secured is in this bill because the members of Congress want to say there will never be another amnesty. The Republicans are going to have to get over their fixation about this beinbg the last amnesty. Do we say if people are allowed to go bankrupt, there will never be another bankruptcy?

Recall that the Dems attempted to push the Dream Act through Congress but it failed was filibustered.

    FTFY.

Shortly thereafter, Obama twice on recorded video stated although he wanted the Dream Act, he did not have the authority to do it himself as president. Then he did just that.

An upcoming election sometimes has a way of concentrating the mind. He was warned there’d be no enthusiam for him in certain quarters.

Where were/are the Republicans (and honest Democrats, if there are any)? The president can not pass laws, act unilaterally.

    technically, he didn’t.

Thus what he did with the Dream Act is unconstitutional – ILLEGAL. Why have the Rebuplicans not sued to stop this travesty?

Because they are basically for it, (Rubuio wanted to enact something similar) and so are the American people, but they are just hung up on this idea of no more amnesties. The Republicans that is. Not so much the American people.

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  55. The GOP establishment is to the Democrat Party as the Washington Generals are to the Harlem Globetrotters.

    ropelight (fe547a)

  56. Dear Senator Toomey. Earlier I wrote that I trust you not to back a bad bill. My trust was misplaced. I’m sure your heart is in the right place, and you really meant this bill to protect and strengthen gun-owners’ rights. You were snookered. But that will be cold comfort to the poor bugger who will be faced with doing time if your amendment passes, if only because his lawyer will correctly advise him that the risk of conviction is too high for him to turn down the prosecutor’s offered plea bargain. When that happens you won’t be there in the interview room, telling them that’s not what Congress meant. And you won’t be the one with the conviction on his record, that will then be used as a reason to deny him the right to bear arms.

    Senator Toomey, I’m disappointed.

    Milhouse (15b6fd)

  57. If everything he states were to take place exactly as mentioned, I would be in favor of it. However, we have no reason, no history, no evidence, no prior examples of anything the government has done so succinctly, successfully, efficiently, consistently, and according to ‘the plan’.
Therefore, I have no rational choice but to be skeptical and highly suspicious of the Dems and left.
