Escort: Menendez Paid Me For Sex

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:23 pm

Another unsubstantiated claim we should all just ignore:

A professional escort who travels the East Coast seeing clients in cities from Miami to Boston has identified a photo of Senator Bob Menendez as a man who paid her for sex. The woman, in her late 30s, told The Daily Caller prior to seeing Menendez’s photo that she had been paid to provide sexual favors to several U.S. senators, including a New Jersey Democrat and other politicians who are no longer living.

I keep hearing that the FBI is closing in. For what it’s worth.

  1. A palate cleanser, if you will, to remove the awful taste of that Michelle Obama thing that happened.

  2. What’s the big deal? This isn’t a career-ender. I mean, it’s not like he drank water on national tv or anything.

  3. Here in New Jersey, our newspapers are reporting this as an “unsubstantiated report from a right-wing, conservative blogger” and (I loved this one) “most likely a dirty trick as the blogger reported this before the election,” it they cover this at all. interestingly, commenters to this story recognize the bias and point it out to the paper. None of my neighbors or friends are aware of these allegations. It would have been good information for them prior to the election.

  4. If it turns out he’s as active a “hobbyist” as the story indicates, god knows what’s about to come out.

Has the good Senator taken any trips to Nevada or Europe?

I’m resisting the temptation to speculate.

  6. If true, it’s unfortunate, but hardly uncommon, as a list of members of both parties exhibiting similar proclivities in recent years can readily be made, even by Patterico should feel so inclined.

  7. correction: … even by Patterico should he feel so inclined.

  8. He’s a democrat, so none of his voters care if he uses prostitutes. As for evidence of corruption and drug abuse, in New Jersey that is a feature; not a bug.

You don’t get the point, Perry. The fact is, mainstream media is largely silent about this scandal. And it IS a scandal. But it’s not reported on Yahoo or MSN or HuffPo (AOL). (Curiously enough, there’s a prominent report on HuffPo about a Catholic cardinal resigning over allegations of inappropriate behavior.)

For days, Manti Te’o’s imaginary girlfriend was all over the news. But this story? Hardly a ripple. I wonder why.

  12. Prepare to reprise the Clinton Impeachment, when this will all be declared “a right-wing ultra-puritan vendetta against consensual sex among consenting adults.”

Because those were righteous blowjobs, doncha know.

  13. you’d think having sex with Robert Menendez for money would be demeaning to where you’d be super embarrassed

Because Senator Menendez underaged hooker wasn’t imaginary? 🙂

Of course, it could be that Mr Te’o is simply more important than Mr Menendez.

That means she had Ted Kennedy, and Bob Byrd as clients.

  19. Perry,

If you admit to having a history of using prostitutes, we’re not here to arrest you.
But it is against the law for a federal employee to use a prostitute in foreign countries—even if prostitution is “legal” in those countries.

  20. Mr Stone, if she’d had Ted Kennedy as a client, would she still be living?

  21. A week ago the New York Times ran a story on the origins of the Menendez scandal. I think the editor wanted it to say it was all caused by Republican partisans (or perhaps the new York Times got a tip that that’s what explains it) but it didn’t work out that way, although the headline still remained:

Inquiry on Democratic Senator Started With a Partisan Push By ERIC LIPTON Published: February 16, 2013

It started out in April, when someone using the name Peter Williams (the New York Times notes that Abscam disgraced U.S. Senator Harrison A. Williams had the nickname “Pete”) sent a tip to Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, a left leaning group, tyhat Dr. Melgen had helped procure prostitutes, some of them underage, for Mr. Menendez, after flying the senator repeatedly on his private plane to the Dominican Republic. And about a yacht. Menendez claimed it all had to do with election. 56 pages of emails were turned over to the FBI and an investigation started. Later someone brought material to the attention of the Daily Caller.

And later some Republicans discovered the unpaid for plane trips.

It’s all in the article, but it’s best not to start reading from the first paragraph.

  23. The Snarky Dana,

    Ha, ha, well played.
I suppose the answer might be, “It depends on if she agreed to get into a car being driven by Senator Kennedy.”

  24. Does anyone else remember how much fire Rush Limbaugh came under for visiting the Dominican Republic so often? Many liberal sites were claiming this was evidence he was using underage prostitutes there. It’s amazing how quiet they all are about Menendez.

    Chuck Bartowski (11fb31)

  25. Does this woman know Chris Dodd?

  26. @narciso 22. Who did send the Foley tip? “Pete Williams”? You were too brief.

Obama’s Backers Seek Big Donors to Press Agenda

    By NICHOLAS CONFESSORE

Published: February 22, 2013 New York Times

Barack Obama has reorganized his campaign as a tax exempt 501(c)(4)entitled to take unlimited donations not required to report donations, although Obama (campaign?) officials say this will voluntarily disclose the names of the biggest donors every few months.

Giving or raising $500,000 or more puts donors on a national advisory board for Mr. Obama’s group and the privilege of attending quarterly meetings with the president, along with other meetings at the White House. Moreover, the new cash demands on Mr. Obama’s top donors and bundlers come as many of them are angling for appointments to administration jobs or ambassadorships.

What they indicate they want to do is lobby Congress.

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  28. What they are doing is overtly selling access and doing exactly that which Teh One routinely rails against. Shocking, I know.
