This particular news actually didn’t exist before the election. The news is that Obama has different rules for his second inauguration than he did for the first.

Now his general attitude toward campaign financing – that was everyone could know.

Obama actually broke a campaign promise about this before the 2008 election. There are not too many campaign promises a Presidential candidate can break before he even gets elected the first time, but Obama managed it.

He probably thought he would never have to live up to it, but John McCain became the Republican Presidential nominee, and he became the Democratic Presidential nominee – exactly the (unlikely in 2007?) scenario discussed by McCain and Obama came to be, and he didn’t live up to his word. He never paid a price for that.

It’s not really just the Los Angeles Times showing it’s partisanship, favorirsm or bias.

It’s also that Obama and company are being more open about this, not concerned or as concerned about the impression it will create, creating more evidence of wanting large donations, not fighting accusations..
