Tell me why I should care.
Patterico (038ee9) — 1/3/2013 @ 5:30 pmI do, sort of. It shows that the majority of GOP Representatives realized there was nothing to be gained – either legislatively or in how the GOP is viewed by the public – by trying to get rid of Boehner. In other words, they showed maturity.
Low bar? Sure.
steve (e7e6c7) — 1/3/2013 @ 5:32 pmOr nobody else wants to take the job because of the coming sh*t storm of the debt ceiling crisis amongst other things.
Gazzer (4c4ae2) — 1/3/2013 @ 5:36 pmIt’s like keeping Rex Ryan, a futile gesture of denial.
narciso (3fec35) — 1/3/2013 @ 5:37 pmrepublicans looked at where they are and said oh yeah more of this please

happyfeet (02dc6d) — 1/3/2013 @ 5:48 pmI’ll give it a gimpy try.
Boehner dissed the TEAs on MSM as irrelevant. With the roll done the vote for Boehner stood at 216, short of election.
Blackburn, Bachmann and one Garrett(NJ?) returned and cast votes for the incumbent.
They had the votes to deny the GOP the Speaker’s office. and everyone knows Blackburn and Bachmann have more balls than leadership.
gary gulrud (dd7d4e) — 1/3/2013 @ 5:49 pmMore of the same.

The roll call vote on the floor of the House? Isn’t only a majority of those present and voting needed anyway?
Sammy Finkelman (60fff5) — 1/3/2013 @ 7:39 pmI think he got the votes by refusing to negotiate with Teh One any more and playing it by the book, which will make O look like the problem.
Patricia (be0117) — 1/3/2013 @ 7:45 pm8. Yes, the Congressional Research Center has a white paper on the minutiae.
Bachmann cast the 218th vote for Boehner putting him over the top.

askeptic (b8ab92) — 1/4/2013 @ 10:01 amThe incoming Speaker, not to be confused with the Outgoing Speaker (who has crying jags), has found a back-bone that no one was currently using, and decreed that there will be no more one-on-one secret negotiations with the Goal-Post Mover.
Perhaps he was tired (finally) of having his a$$ handed to him, or there just wasn’t any more to slice off?
I hear the white flag he waved during the fiscal cliff negotiations doubles as a crying towel.
Icy (f1nk31m@n) (51f8f9) — 1/4/2013 @ 9:55 pmHey, try and find a demolition crew, anywhere in the USA, that doesn’t have a boehner working on it.
Smock Puppet, 10th Dan Snark Master (98ae1f) — 1/5/2013 @ 9:41 amYou’re first in line. They’ll get around to it as soon as they’re finally done with this Fiscal Cliff thingy.
