  1. I have a Power of the Jump post I want to do, but right now let’s just ring in the New Year.

  2. Pat, if we’re reading this then we got nothing else to do ’till midnight, so please do the Power of the Jump post.

Also, Happy New Years to you and thanks for all you do.

  3. Discuss:

Jenny McCarthy has probably killed and maimed more children than any mass murderer shooting up a school, yet she gets to co-host ABC’s New Year’s Eve show.

  4. Ag80 – Agreed. She’s set public health back 50 years.

    Pious Agnostic (20c167)

  5. very good point Mr. 80

  6. I’d never heard of this McCarthy whoever, so I had to google her, and by gum you’re right. There’s a “hoochie” for you, if it simply means the opposite of a respectable woman. She ought to be ostracised from public life, not given platforms from which she can persuade more parents to harm their children and those of everyone else around them.

Anyway, good riddance 2012. It’s been the worst year of my life so far, and I’d gladly erase it from history if I could. Here’s hoping 2013 isn’t even worse.

  7. but this is not a Happy New Year it is a new year marked by a pronounced need for a Grim Resolve to be nurtured in the hearts of those what would yet resist president food stamp’s perverse molestations of our pitiful little country

me I resolve to use this year to make ready my exodus from california

it’s simply not a morally defensible life, supporting fascism as I do while I’m there

    it feels dirty

    happyfeet (461de6)

  8. Speaking of food stamps, I threatened on election day to go on them. Haven’t got around to it yet, but if my situation doesn’t improve I still mean to. If everyone is getting them, and the economy is being ruined for them, then why shouldn’t I at least grab what I can, and what their laws entitle me to? How would leaving that money for someone else improve matters? It’s not like it would go back to the taxpayers from which it was taken; it would just go to someone else. I did my bit to try to stop the disaster, but my fellow voters disagreed. So give me my share of the loot, give me my 0bamaphone and 0bamacare and whatever else is being handed out, I no longer care. And I could use it.

  9. Feets, a morally defensible life may no longer be an option no matter where you live.

  10. Milhouse,

I’m sorry this has been such a difficult year for you. It can be hard work remaining optimistic during seasons like that. I’ll be hopeful for you that 2013 brings you whatever it is that is needed in your life for peace and contentment.

  24. The newscaster MC girl on WNYW TV – Channel 5 in New York made a reference maybe five minutes ago to “8 million people on this little island.”

No. All 5 boroughs. Manhattan has about 1 million, a little more residents – I don’t know how many come in on an average weekday, or the most trafficked weekday, but it isn’t everybody even though maybe Manhattan draws from millions more.

West of you, on the western slope of the Sangre De Cristo Mnt. Range Locals have a place called Hidden Valley Hot Springs. An old hangout with hot springs that overlook the San Louis Valley. As cool as cool can be.
