Just bring plenty of ammo. As soon as we secede we’re invading northern Mexico to go dove hunting. And if we have a good enough time, we’re keeping it.

Which might upset the cartels the Obama administration has armed to the teeth.

So, like I said, just bring ammo and you’ll be OK. And bacon. BBQ’d dove breasts are nothing without bacon.

Can we admit there’s a pattern here? We of course can’t expect leftists to be civil. They demonize others as a matter of necessity, because otherwise they couldn’t tell each other that they’re high-minded and ethical and all for stealing other people’s stuff.

The people they’re stealing from stole it first, they tell themselves. And anyway they’re not really people but something less than that.

This thread’s topic reminds me of a discussion I got into with a devout liberal a few years ago, around the time of the attempted murder of the Congresswoman from Arizona. He was trying to pin the blame for her shooting on the right, even though it eventually came out that the assassin had a history of leftism, at least during his years in high school.

I then noted that one of the heroes and icons of liberal America and the Democrat Party, John F. Kennedy, was murdered by an ultra-liberal. By a person aligned with a belief system that the left has long coddled (“The Soviet Union’s heart at least is in the right place!!! Fidel Castro at least provides free healthcare!!!”). And that Kennedy’s brother was killed by a person whose background also has been long associated with caressing and stroking by the left, namely a human of Palestinian origins.

Once again: The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Lee Harvey Oswald didn’t have any good intentions. H wasn’t that stupid. This was a person fascinated by the Rosenberg spy case, and not because he thought they were innocent, I don’t think. He was somewhat stupid about the way the Soviet Union worked and the Cold War. Most likely, he intended to escape across the border to Mexico, and then be rewarded. Because surely the Soviet Union wanted this, just like Stalin wanted to murder Trotsky.

Now before he had had a problem. He couldn’t get back into the spy game. They didn’t assign him any tasks. By killing Kennedy, he’d prove how good he was.

The only question is, if some Texas Democrat gave him the idea that the KGB wanted this to happen.

Sirhan Sirhan was motivated by loyalty to the Arab cause. He didn’t ask any questions about the validity of the Arab cause, either.

Sirhan was a joiner (or a would be joiner, with no connections) and all he thought about was contributing something to the cause without much, if any, thought as to morality. The cause itself didn’t promote morality and ethics. The rhetoric used, that he might hear, always justified extreme measures. Hijackings and terrorism had already started in other parts of the world

He didn’t have much understanding how he could help it, and in a rather primitive way, he took Robert F. Kennedy to be a very pro-Israel politician, although that was boilerplate, and the same thing other politicians said, and missed the fact he had little chance of actually getting the nomination, and thought he could affect things by killing him.

It’s amusing to compare Ted Kennedy with George HW Bush.

They lived completely different lives and showed women in particular completely different levels of respect and justice.

Rubbing hands with glee at Ted Kennedy’s death would be horrible, but soberly discussing his life honestly… not really so bad, in my opinion.

Of course I’m sure there were people on the right who took it too far. I’m not surprised to see someone on either ‘side’ try to position that as some kind of justification. Anything to avoid personal responsibility.

It’s not two sides. It’s millions of individuals, and you are responsible for yourself.

Another gauge of how truly ass backwards (and hollow) so many liberals are — in which they buy into the idea that left-leaning emotions, because in their mind such biases stem from a big heart, therefore absolve one of all sins — is to observe the way they continue to get gauzy eyed over (1) JFK, in spite of greater knowledge about him coming out through the decades (per below), and then, decades later, respond quite similarly towards (2) Bill Clinton.

A powerful man who was exceedingly reckless: if Alford’s book makes less news than it might, it is not really because she has, in Maslin’s words, kept the story “under wraps.” She seems to have been a favorite anecdote—a punch line in amusing stories about Kennedy’s womanizing. She mentions one that has crept into books, in what she says is distorted form. Her story is already being told; she has every right to tell it. This memoir isn’t great literature, but it’s less cloying than a lot of the Kennedy hagiography out there.

By her account, Kennedy asked her to perform oral sex on an aide while he watched. She did, and their contact continued for more than a year; it ended soon after she turned down a request to “take care” of Ted Kennedy… [T]here was a Presidential aide who kept an eye on her and gave her contact information for an illegal abortionist. (She says she didn’t have to use it.)

JFK apparently would have made Bubba Clinton look like a prude. Yet they’re both embraced by much of the left, then and now. This is worth keeping in mind if only because it illustrates that while a percentage of the right/Republican Party will rationalize away the shoddy, corrupt qualities of rightwing politicians, conservatives are no where near as bad in that department as the left is.

Ambition. There are fewer people who want to join the bad guys than the good guys, so he felt he had greater chance of becoming somebody important. And to rise, he’d mostly have to do evil things, rather than difficult things, and even if some of it was difficult, there was less competition.

And in the Rosenberg case, the Communists looked well organized.

He didn’t buy into that at all. Where do see one thing that he bought into that? He just repeated lies he knew to be lies. He tried to be a propaganist for Castro – that led nowhere.

He thought the Communists would help him, since he was on their “team” and asked for a certain lawyer who had defended Communists.

I argued that neither of them was motivated by anything like liberalism,or even leftism, and I went into what I though were their motives.

The bottom line is that those assassinations are not a precedent for hating George Bush the Elder.

And they had nothing to do with American politics, as ordinarily understood.
