Manning was always overrated as a college player, and even as a pro he never SERIOUSLY did well until they got a front line for him that could cover his chickenshit ass properly

The way to beat any Manning team is to get to him a couple times, sack his ass at least twice in the first quarter.

The third year was the Gator’s NC year, 1996 — the Gators put 35 of the board then coasted to a 35-29 win. This was Wuerfel’s last year, meaning 1997 was Mannings Big Chance.

But nope. Florida’s running game trumped Manning’s passing game, as UF’s Fred Taylor put 134 yards on UT in only 17 attempts, and Manning lost 33-20.

And THAT is why he never got the Heisman. Because he couldn’t beat Florida even when they were coming down off an NC year. Because EVERY single one of the 3 relevant UF games showed a different way to beat Manning.
