MFM Accidentally Admits Bias

Filed under: General — JD @ 12:36 pm

[Guest post by JD]

This is one of those water is wet kind of moments.

It seems that now that any MFM criticism cannot hurt his re-election chances, the MFM will begin to criticize OBarcky for not being leftist enough.

And they wonder why the MFM is despised almost as much as lawyers and Congress.

The issues Politico seems to be talking about are Guantanamo Bay, gun control, drone strikes, “civil liberties” troop withdrawal from Afghanistan, and climate change.

There’s another thing building up, on the political (grassroots) level:

Young Immigrants Say It’s Obama’s Time to Act

This weekend, United We Dream will gather more than 600 leaders (most still without legal status) from 30 states at a meeting in Kansas City, Mo., to work out their strategy to keep the heat on the White House and Congress during the coming immigration fight.

Every day there seems to be another story in the New York Times this week.

  11. I often wondered just how far left the MSM & American moonbats would push Zero if they controlled both Houses.

The destruction of the Constitution would be a start. MSNBC and their commentators have basically called it a relic of the past along with the Founders principles.

So what is the end game? Socialism? Communism?

What I have seen is the American left turn a blind eye towards Gitmo, civilian trials, murder of American nationals through drone strikes and in all probability rendition. If they ceaselessly bitched and moaned about Bush and Cheney being criminals for these and other ‘transgressions’, where then is the same recriminations?

They’re nowhere to be found. Which leads me to believe that these assholes will tolerate anything from Zero, as long as they kick the can further down the road towards a European Socialist model.

No support means there’s nobody important really interested in pursuing this. Politico gave no details no details with regard to gun control, but as clearly talking about people in print media ad not in Congress. Mike Lupica in the New York Daily News has been big on this.

More. Congress and Lawyers have natural forces to make them scum, you have to really work at it to NOT be scum.

Journos have no such excuse. They had to decide they wanted to be reprehensibly vile scum.

  24. Speaking of bias, I am still aghast at CBS’s hatchet job on Jefferson, which continues the attack (while people like Woodrow Wilson and M. Sanger are lionized). Even the Smithsonian joins in. Why not in today’s DC?

I guess it means full steam ahead with the anti-Constitution movement and the smearing of the Founders who wrote it.

Glorious Leader will suffice from now on.

Two thumbs up. Let them loose anywhere in Cali they want to go, tell them they can be shot on sight if they are found within the state borders of any other state.

Let’s TEST this whole open immigration thing in the place that wants it the most.

    Works for me.

Ummm, hasn’t this been generally debunked these days, that, in fact, the children were likely sired by his brother or something like that?

Ummm, hasn’t this been generally debunked these days, that, in fact, the children were likely sired by his brother or something like that?

It hasn’t been debunked. It has just been proposed that the DNA evidence is consistent with another possibility other than Thomas Jefferson himself. Th trouble with that is that nobody suggested that in the 19th century – they proposed maternal relatives of Thomas Jefferson.

Against that what we have is what at least one of Sally Hemings children thought or told people, including his explanation of his first name, Madison, and Thomas Jefferson’s favorable treatment of Sally Hemings’ children (which could however also be explained by the fact she was his late wife’s half sister) Eston Hemings, the youngest son, born 1808, through whom the DNA connection was made, also seems to have thought he was Thomas Jefferson’s son, and he changed his name, and looked like him and his descendants eventually passed for white.

The whole thing make sense, and the coverup was a model used by other people including Bill Clinton.

The key aspect of the coverup was to spread a rebutable version of the story. The key lie was “dusky Sally”

Sally Hemings, however, was 3/4 white.

Now people who had read Jefferson’s 1784 book (written before any relationship could possibly have begun) knew that he (said he) was not physically attracted to blacks. He would have no reason to lie about this in 1784. So if you thought Sally Hemings was dark skinned, you’d think he whole thing was very improbable. But she was white, or white looking, and his late wife’s younger half sister.

Another lie was about young Tom, apparently their first child, born 1790. He had died. But in the story he as still live so finding no Tom, or an obviously wrong candidate for Tom, and there was one, you’d think the whole story was false.

I’m sure a number of people over the generations knew the story (from personal contact originally) and they studied it and maybe aught others, and it was used by the best criminal defense lawyers.

I suppose her children thought Thomas Jefferson mad a mistake. He should have brought her back to Virginia, yes (she had to come voluntarily) but brought her back as a free white woman and married her and lied about who she was instead of lying about their relationship.

    Sammy Finkelman (d8778d)

  29. Thomas Calendar never got to see Sally Hemings.

Now I should mention that Thomas Jefferson doesn’t really have that great a record of honesty.

    Sammy Finkelman (d8778d)

  30. Let’s assume he had a relationship with children with Sally Hemmings.

Why does that negate all the work he did in forming this union?

The Smithsonian actually has a statue of him with a backdrop of panels with the names of every one of his slaves on it! Enough already!

They’re trying to discredit the Constitution. Period.

    Patricia (be0117)

  31. Patricia, indeed they are trying to discredit the founding fathers – but attacking Jefferson is pretty stupid since he was the leading anti-Federalist, didn’t participate in the drafting and largely opposed the Constitution.

  35. Ummm, hasn’t this been generally debunked these days, that, in fact, the children were likely sired by his brother or something like that?

No, the only Hemmings son with Jefferson genes, whether those of Thomas or of one of his nephews, was the youngest. The traceable male-line descendants of the older sons do not have the Jefferson Y-chromosome, and therefore are not descended from any Jefferson.
