  3. And the linked Yahoo article is pathetic. Yahoo isn’t paying people to write for it, is it?

    DRJ (a83b8b)

  4. The article and writer are both pathetic. Do lefties actually think people will believe what ever they say, or is she just shilling, hoping to help Obama?

  5. That yahoo news article is surreal.

  6. Are there comments allowed over there? I didn’t check.

  7. Oh my, that’s just hilarious! And that’s exactly what Bill would look like if thought there were honeys aplenty.

Contrary to the linked article,Romney’s second-in-command when he was gov, came out in support of him, saying,

Romney, indeed, asked for and received binders with names of potential female candidates for high-level posts — backing up his claim in Tuesday night’s debate that as governor he had reached out to women’s groups because he was dissatisfied with the mostly male applicants for jobs in his administration.

Kerry Healey, Romney’s former lieutenant governor, said 10 of the 20 top positions in the administration were filled by women — more than any other state in the nation.

“Mitt Romney had a commitment to making sure women were properly represented in his administration,” Healey, now a Romney campaign adviser, told Fox News. She also explained the initiative was part of a campaign promise.

  9. Jeremy asking whether he would have a job after college, the answer was, “Will you have any skills anybody wants to pay for?” Romney pandered.

As for binders full of women, “women’s resumes” is not a hard thing to say.

  10. @9

Yeah, bad choice of words, awkward even. But making it a gaffe? He was looking for women to hire!

  11. I agree, kinlaw. And even for Jeremy, I would not kick a baby, either. But it seems that you can go wrong being nice.

  12. kinlaw, there are over 9,000 comments on the post.

Bottom line, Romney recruits women because they look good and they come cheap.

    For the left it does.

  14. I am a partisan so what do I know, but from what I have seen today on Facebook and in Twitter the left is going to grossly overplay this whole binders full of women idea and end up wearing it out to the degree that it becomes a non-issue. It gives the feminists an opportunity to react with righteous indignation, but they are already going to vote for Obama anyway and I can’t imagine that undecideds care a whole lot about that turn of phrase.

  15. DRJ–talk about a trip down memory lane! That press conference where the president got Slick up to the lectern and then just exited the scene and left Clinton there jawing away with the reporters is probably my favorite half-hour of the Obama presidency. Barack’s excuse was that Michelle was waiting for him–and Bill said something like, “yeah, go, you don’t want to get Michelle mad”.

Yes. I am quite sure that is my favorite memory of the entire Obama presidency.

JVW, I imagine that several times during this campaign centrists and undecideds have rolled their eyes at the crap the left and the media (birm) have tried to make into issues.

And saying things like “you have got to be kidding”.

This is another one of those.

  18. Without people like Virginia, the left would not know what to think given that they are hive mind of such fiercely independent like-minded thinkers who move in the same direction at the drop of a hat.

How did Obama staff his presidency, apart from underpaying women?

Bottom line, Romney recruits women because they look good and they come cheap.

And the writer of that comment, Virginia Heffernan, probably wouldn’t mind kicking such women to the curb if their politics don’t align with hers. Or I should say look at all the females similar to her (ie, of the left) who gave a million — no, a trillion — benefits of the doubt to Bill “definition-of-is-is” Clinton, merely because his outrageous behavior towards the opposite sex was intertwined with his liberalism.

That’s why I’m being only partially sarcastic when I’ve mused that if Obama were a conservative, or even a true centrist, a lot of white liberals, and a lot of black liberals, would start debating openly about whether Jim Crow laws should be re-instituted. Again, I’m being only a bit flippant about that notion, because liberals sometimes are so absurd — so devoid of common sense and introspective maturity — they can’t be parodied, or they live up to the most negative parodies that can be made of them.

That doesn’t make any sense! How it is bad for women to be considered for jobs? They are just going through the motions of being outraged in hopes that someone will dumbly assume they wouldn’t be mad if Romney hadn’t done something wrong.

This is sillier than the Big Bird platform.

Obama has been President for four years now. Can’t he come up with some accomplishment to run on? Cutting the deficit in half? Winning the war on terror? The most transparent and honest administration in history? A post partisan age where the oceans stopped rising? I don’t see why he can’t just run on all the promises he kept.

Ag80 – It’s funny too that the green energy that Obama loves to throw government money at doesn’t make sense even with gas prices double what they were when Obama was inaugurated.

I was arranging project financing for wind farms 30 years ago and they didn’t make economic sense without tax credits and subsidies. They still don’t make economic sense without tax credits and subsidies. I don’t see when any realistic person believes they can become a competitive source of energy. If they were, they wouldn’t need continuous government tax credits and subsidies to exist.

This Bernstein character, even if he’s completely truthful, isn’t in a position to know what was happening in Romney’s transition team; Healy, his Lt Gov, is, and confirms his account.

No, there’s nothing wrong with “assault weapons” (though thank you 0bama for explicitly repudiating the second amendment by saying that weapons made for soldiers don’t belong in civilian hands). But then something happened to him (I have my theory, but I’ll keep it for now) and he became a leftist. 65. For all of you wondering why “Binders Full Of Women” took the fancy of the left, here’s your explanation:

It was pre-planned. They knew that at least one “wymens issues” question would be asked, and one was: the old canard about women making 35% the salary of men (or whatever).

From that point on, whatever Romney said would be parsed for something to hit him about.

Obviously, the substance of his answer was unobjectionable; who can argue against his record for promoting qualified women into his administration as governor? That he didn’t engage directly with a question with an, ahem, flawed premise is commendable.

So, the Left did what they always do: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.

No matter how stupid, if they repeat it often enough they are convinced it’ll make an impact.

  67. Talk about an utterly absurd, totally manufactured “controversy” by the Left. What on earth was even remotely out-of-place or inappropriate about Romney’s comment? The whole situation is so laughably absurd, but par for the course, given the Dems’ and compliant media’s collective hatred of, and collusion against, Romney. He was making a clear statement about the extent to which he conducted an intense and extensive search for the explicit purpose of hiring qualified women to work under his administration.

This latest attempt at vilification by the Left is so infantile and asinine it defies belief.

    Good choice, Scott.

    Colonel Haiku (00b186)

  69. I think these pathetic attempts to vilify Romney such as the Big Bird ploy and now the binders full of women meme simply serve to make the Obama campaign look weak and desperate. It makes them look like LOSERS. If all they can throw up against Romney is that Big Bird will have to rely on its $200million reserves and that Romney had his transistion team help him find qualified women for position in his administration then it is going to be Romney in a landslide. The only other criticism they can muster is a lack of detail on Romney’s plan to reduce itemized deductions when lowering overall tax rates… This completely falls flat since the only item Obama is running on is class warfare, take from the millionaires and billionaires. Obama has literally offered nothing of substance for a second term, except ‘flexibility’. Oh wait, he did say in the last debate that he wants to reinstate the assault weapons ban, huge mistake because it just reminds everyone, especially Hispanics, that Obama let hundreds of weapons flow with ATF assistance unchecked into Mexico to the deadly cartels. Apparently, he wants to ban weapons here but thinks it is OKAY to arm the cartels? Oh and gas prices were low because of a poor economy when he took office? It is still bad and Obama’s policies have caused prices to double partially through restricting drilling, partially through stupid ethanol policies and further through deflating the dollar, QE1, QE2 and now QE3.

No Obama and his team look like weak, desperate losers who have not a clue about average every day Americans and how we think. And we will VOTE like our lives depend on it November 6th!

That’s one of the more amusing aspects of this klown kar administration. They imagine that they can’t fail if they follow Alinsky’s ingenious plan.

The problem, for them, is that they can’t come up with the tactics to achieve the objectives laid out in the plan. They’re incompetent.

It sort of reminds me of Japan in WWII. They had their Alinskys; Sun Tzu and Musashi. Then they did boneheaded things like incorporate a mindless drive toward the Aleutians into their Midway campaign, spreading their forces over 2% of the Earth’s surface where they couldn’t possibly support each other.

Prompting SecNav Knox, upon reviewing reports of the battle, to say, “Japan was either unable to understand modern war or not qualified to take part in it.”

Sorta how I feel watching the Obama permacampaignistration implode. All the while wondering how it could happen cuz they read Alinsky.

Rival Campaigns Intently Pursue Votes of Women

Speaking in Mount Vernon, Iowa, Mr. Obama made his own reference to Mr. Romney’s “binders” comment, saying that there were enough talented women in the country that finding them required no special search.

This morning i saw a glimpse of Joe Biden on CBS saying that Romney shouldn’t need binders – or he wouldn’t or something – his own wife was someone. But she was in Delaware.

The whole idea is that Romney shouldn’t need to search out women.

This is the main front page story in the New York times today

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  78. All this has become the main theme of the Democratic campaign:

Before dawn Wednesday, Democrats had taken to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and television to ridicule Mr. Romney’s debate-night statement that he had collected “binders full of women” when he was a new governor in Massachusetts seeking “qualified” female appointees for his administration.

(Plus binders and big bird help keep Benghazi and the crumbling polls for Obama off their minds). And even a lot of the above mentioned people know they are only being patronized at this point. The recent Obama campaign “strategy” reminds me very much of giving a pacifier dipped in something flavorful to a baby– for the purpose of drawing its attention inward and to try to keep it calm for a while.

From what I hear locally, downticket Dem candidates running this year (and who expected more), are not happy with the fizzle of the Obama campaign and how stupidly limited resources are being spent.
