Islamist Protestor Dies From Inhaling Smoke from Burning American Flags

Seriously? Apparently, yes:

Several Muslim parties and a Christian group held rallies on Sunday to protest against a movie released in America.

Around 10,000 people participated in the main rally organised on The Mall by the Tehreek Hurmat-i-Rasool (THR). . . .

One of the participants of the rally, Abdullah Ismail, passed away after he was taken to Mayo Hospital. Witnesses said he had complained of feeling unwell from the smoke from US flags burnt at the rally.

Hafiz Saeed alleged that the film, Innocence of Muslims, had been produced with the backing of US establishment. He said the director, the producer and all those involved in the production and release of the movie must be hanged publicly. “The US must make a law against blasphemy – or we will not let the US consulates in Pakistan function,” he said.

  8. Now THERE’S an idea; make all U.S. flags with a toxic substance. Only if burned are the toxins released.

    This allows those who wish to exert their 1st amendments rights the opportunity to do so with our blessing.

    Of course as in all things, caveat emptor!!!

    And of course all embassy flags and flags sold overseas will be toxic also.

    Another good Muslim rioter has been promoted to his awaiting garden.

In a Constitution Subcommittee hearing yesterday, Congressman Trent Franks (AZ-02) questioned Assistant Attorney General, Thomas Perez, over the Administration’s commitment to 1st Amendment rights. Franks’ questions were prompted by a Daily Caller article from late last year in which Perez was quoted as warmly embracing the proposals of Islamist advocates in a meeting at George Washington University, among them a request for “a legal declaration that U.S. citizens’ criticism of Islam constitutes racial discrimination.”

    Perez reportedly ended the meeting with an enthusiastic closing speech and was quoted as saying, “I sat here the entire time, taking notes…I have some very concrete thoughts … in the aftermath of this.”

    In yesterday’s hearing, Chairman Franks asked Perez to affirm that the Administration would “never entertain or advance a proposal that criminalizes speech against any religion?” Perez refused.

    — Islam is a ‘race’ now? Silly. What’s gonna happen? Is Rep. Keith Ellison going to introduce a bill to this effect in Congress? I wouldn’t put it past him, but such a bill would go nowhere — no matter what the composition of Congress at the time, it wouldn’t even make it out of committee.

    As for the Asst AG voting “present” on the issue, it’s a thing with the current Executive Branch. And if you think about it, sometimes the “I can see both sides of an issue, therefore I refuse to choose one” philosophy is actually a good thing — the opposite of the “do something” disease.
