America Gets Brutal Reminders: Obama Is a Terrible Foreign Policy President Too

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:23 pm

So our ambassador is killed in Libya and the Marines aren’t there although they should have been.

Meanwhile the Cairo embassy apologizes for free speech as our flag is torn down by extremists in Egypt on 9/11.

Meanwhile Obama is snubbing Netanyahu and relations with Israel are the worst anyone can remember.

Hey, at least everything’s going great here at home!

  1. Sorry it took me a while to get to these topics. Lots of non-blog / non-Internet stuff going on . . .

Hey, The one is an equal-opportunity fuck up.

He doesn’t want to just* suck at ONE thing, he wants to suck at EVERY thing.

I mean, that’s about all we have left if we reelect President OBozo.

  5. Bill Clinton wants all of you jerks to know that nobody, nobody, could have prevented Islamists from storming our embassies and murdering an ambassador and other American personnel.

    NOBODY!

Except every President between Carter and Obama.

  7. Ambassador was raped & drug through the streets while the media provided cover for Obama. There was a day when the US swore to get Al Zawahiri & Mullah Omar in addition to UBL – now Al Zawahiri’s brother is leading the disgrace against our embassy in Egypt. No security briefings & no cover provided. He doesn’t even have enough ships available to the navy to send a couple frigates to accompany the two ship armada he’s assembled in response. And since he prefers drone killings to Gitmo debriefings … the unknown ahead should be feared. Remember “they were at war with us before we went to war with them” to quote the 9/11 commission.

  8. More proof that no matter how stupid you think they are, they will actually make an effort to be even stupider:
WASHINGTON (AP) – The Obama administration, roiled by the first killing of a U.S. ambassador in more than 30 years, is investigating whether the assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya was a planned terrorist strike to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks and not a spontaneous mob enraged over an anti-Islam YouTube video.

    — Didja hear that? They are going to ‘investigate’ whether or not an attack by Muslim extremists that took place on SEPTEMBER 11TH was planned!

Meanwhile, they hedge their bets by having THE CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF OF THE UNITED STATES call Pastor Terry Jones to request that he stop promoting the contoversial film.
Funny, I thought that military officers swear an oath to defend the Constitution, and not to intimidate private citizens to STFU.

  13. 10 We’ve had WORSE? Pray tell, who might that be? Who has done more damage? Which one has the biggest cult of personality? Do liberals actually want radical changes espoused by this knucklehead? Do they really buy the bs? I guess so. I know Jews in s.florida who remain absolutely enthralled by Obama, who can do no wrong ever.

  16. The actors in the film were lied to. There was no reference to Mohammed in the script – that character was called “Master George.” Dialog was dubbed over the original dialog in places – the actors recorded some dialog later without knowing why.

Computer technology made actors appear to be traipsing through Middle Eastern cities. None of the 80 members of the cast and crew knew what this was really about. They released a statement to CNN that claims they were duped.

A man who identified himself as Sam Basile (which may be a Coptic Christian convicted of bank-fraud named Nakoula Basseley Nakoula who has the same address as that affiliated with a phone number for “Bacile.”) claimed to have written the film.

This man told the Associated Press he was an Israeli Jew and described Islam as a cancer. The Wall Street Journal early described Sam Basile as an Israeli-American real estate developer living in LA. He told the Wall Street Journal that he raised $5 million from about 100 Jewish donors to make the two-hour movie in California last year.

CNN could find no “Sam Basile” in public records and the movie – what there is of it – looks like it had a low budget. The Israeli government said he wasn’t from the country. The Jewish Journal had not heard of him.

Nakoula denied being Bacile to the Associated Press but admitted that he was manager for a company that produced the film.

“During a conversation outside his home, he offered his driver’s license to show his identity but kept his thumb over his middle name, Basseley. Records checks by the AP subsequently found it and other connections to the Bacile persona. The AP located Bacile after obtaining his cell phone number from Morris Sadek, a conservative Coptic Christian in the U.S. who had promoted the anti-Muslim film in recent days on his website.”

As part of his 2010 plea bargain Nakoula is not allowed to use the Internet, but “Bacile” has been posting videos and commenting on blogs.

The name “Sam Bassiel” (spelled that way) – the Spelling Mafia strikes again! This is designed to defeat Lexis/Nexis and Google searches – appears as a producer in a 2009 casting call in Backstage for a movie to be called “Desert Warrior”, but the New York Times could find no one with any knowledge of this project in Hollywood -not unions, not casting directors, not agencies, not production offices.

LA Weekly says it did have an L.A. permit and was filmed in August, 2011at Blue Cloud studios, a.k.a. Blue Cloud Movie Ranch, in Santa Clarita under the title Desert Warriors.

The actors in the film were told it was to be called “Desert Warrior” and be about ancient life. CNN says a casting call for “Desert Warrior” appeared in July 2011, (maybe without the name Bassiel) and said it was supposed to be a “historical Arabian Desert adventure film.”

The director spelled his name “Basil” when dealing with at least one actress. She spoke to him on Wednesday. He claimed then he was upset with Moslems killing other people.

While the director may be an imposter, one person identified as connected with it as a producer is Steve Klein (He is supposed to be a Vietnam War veteran whose son was severely wounded in Iraq, and is notorious in California for anti-Islam, actions and has a weekly radio show on Christian radio.)

Steve Klein claimed that the director was Sam Basile (spelled that way) but later told the Atlantic that it was not the director’s real name.

He claimed he himself had only an incidental role in the making of the movie. Klein claimed a film exists and had been shown over the summer at a theater “100 yards or so” from Grauman’s Chinese Theater” but declined to say exactly where. No theater owner the New York Times contacted had any record of any such thing.

Klein said the idea behind the movie was to get Moslems into a theater thinking they were going to see a film celebrating Islam, and then expose them to the truth.

The film has been promoted on the web by Morris Sadek, leader of a Washington D.C. based Coptic organization, and according to James Horn, someone who worked with Steve Klein on various anti-Muslim activities, Klein is supposed to be connected to the Coptic community in Los Angeles. But the LA Coptic bishop Serapion never heard of him.

Sadek is supposed to be connected to Terry Jones. Jones said on Wednesday he had not seen more than the video.

The video was at some point translated into Arabic. Maybe about a week ago.

  17. This film (all 14 minutes of it) was part of the terrorist conspiracy. The film itself is a hoax. It was designed as a red herring to explain the crowds. Crowds are really collected more by personal contact (ground game) than by broadcasting (air war)

It probably wasn’t even really needed to rile up the crowds, and the crowds themselves are merely window dressing and cover for a relatively small number of people – both physical protection and deception.

    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/09/president-obama-says-libya-attack-a-reminder-of-us-as-indispensable-power/

Obama: We will not be deterred. We will keep going. We will keep going because the world needs us. We are the one indispensable power in the world. And if we are going to see peace and security for our children and grandchildren, then that means this generation of Americans has to lead. We’re going to have to keep doing the work no matter how hard it seems sometimes.

  21. Here’s the whole speech:

Remarks by the President at a Campaign Event — Las Vegas, NV Sept 13, 2012

    And then he continues:

And that’s what I want to talk to you about here today. We’ve got work to do overseas; we’ve also got to do some work here at home.

    (Applause.)

And we’ve got to do some work right here in the great state of Nevada. (Applause.)

Now, because Nevada is a battleground state, you are aware that we’ve got an election going on.

    (Applause.)

Unless you’ve accidentally stumbled in here looking for a convention of podiatrists —

    (laughter)

    — then you’ve been paying some attention to the election. Both parties just came out with their conventions. Each side made its case. And now your choice — facing a very big choice…

  22. More:

THE PRESIDENT: And this is their prescription for everything — tax cuts in good times, tax cuts in bad times; tax cuts when we’re at peace, tax cuts when we’re at war; tax cuts to help you lose those few extra pounds — (laughter) — tax cuts to give your love life that extra kick. (Laughter.)

  25. And by the way, I will never turn Medicare into a voucher because no American should have to spend their golden years at the mercy of insurance companies. (Applause.)

You should be at the mercy of a select government panel on medical practice instead.

You should retire after a lifetime of labor with some dignity and some respect. You have earned it. We’ll reform Medicare for the long haul the right way by bringing down costs, not by dumping those costs onto seniors. (Applause.)

The claim is the voucher would result in policies where you had to spend extra money.

He’ll bring down costs by fiat, not by competition.

And Ryan has modified his plan to keep traditional Medicare as an option. It may not be perfect yet, but he’s ignoring actual likely effects.
