Funny how we deem it won’t offend Muslim sensibilities to show graphic pics & video of dying, stunned, blood-soaked Qaddafi, then dead, eyes-staring Qaddafi, then stripped, dead body of Qaddafi being dragged through the street. Yet it would have offended Muslim sensibilities to have shown a pic of the dead UBL – after all, Islam is the Religion of Peace, so you’d think that Muslims world-wide would have rejoiced at UBL’s death. Right?

    As Daley notes, Jew-hating Farrakhan & Jeremiah Wright are gnashing their teeth at this murder of their mentor. So is hero to the Left, Nelson Mandela – who loved, loved, loved Qaddafi.

  39. Qaddafi was a murderer so this is his final justice but it should also strike fear in the hearts of most Middle Eastern rulers, whether they are friends or foes of the West. Nevertheless, coupled with Hillary Clinton’s schoolyard taunt, I wonder if this is really the message the Obama Administration wants to send to the Middle East. Maybe it is.

    Apparently, as of two weeks ago Megrahi only had days…or weeks…or months… hell, maybe even years to live.

    Megrahi, released from a Scottish prison two years ago because he was suffering from terminal cancer, spoke to Reuters from a bed at his Tripoli home. Looking frail and his breathing labored, he said he had only a few months, at most, to live.

    “The facts (about the Lockerbie bombing) will become clear one day and hopefully in the near future. In a few months from now, you will see new facts that will be announced,” he told Reuters Television over the pinging of medical monitors.

    “The West exaggerated my name. Please leave me alone. I only have a few more days, weeks or months.”

    ABC News’ Jake Tapper and Luis Martinez report (Oct 14, 2011 1:54pm):

    Two days ago President Obama authorized the deployment to Uganda of approximately 100 combat-equipped U.S. forces to help regional forces “remove from the battlefield” – meaning capture or kill – Lord’s Resistance Army leader Joseph Kony and senior leaders of the LRA.

    The forces will deploy beginning with a small group and grow over the next month to 100. They will ultimately go to Uganda, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the permission of those countries.

    The president made this announcement in a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, Friday afternoon, saying that “deploying these U.S. Armed Forces furthers U.S. national security interests and foreign policy and will be a significant contribution toward counter-LRA efforts in central Africa.”

    He said that “although the U.S. forces are combat-equipped, they will only be providing information, advice, and assistance to partner nation forces, and they will not themselves engage LRA forces unless necessary for self-defense.”

    Perhaps, since it was not approved by Congress or it was one of those Friday Afternoon Bad News Dumps, you missed it.

  60. I know the left is boasting that Obama has handled these things really well, by taking out bad guys in Pakistan and Libya without actually invading, but have we seen this play out yet?

    They are also saying that Hillary’s C-17 has to make radical steep landings in Libya because of all those anti-aircraft missiles of Qaddafi’s that are now missing.

    Our only recourse is to show up at black markets and buy them up.

    And who knows what else is going on? It’s a chaotic situation.

    Pakistan has nuclear weapons, too. Egypt is far less a friend.

    It’s true that a prominent enemy leader dying is great PR, but are we changing Libya, Pakistan, Iran, and Egypt for the better?

    The Iraq success triggered uprisings demanding more human rights, and we squandered that. The world is not a safer place than it was in 2008.

    I’m glad Qaddafi saw justice, but he had abandoned terror and was a sign diplomacy works. Iran has become more radical, refusing to show weakness.

    What is the lesson here? The same on we see in Egypt, I’m afraid.

    Was abandoning nukes a mistake for Qaddafi? I think that’s the message Obama is sending. I wonder if this kind of thing is even discussed.
