Shameful: Occupy Boston Protesters Harass, Spit on Member of Coast Guard

Filed under: General — Aaron Worthing @ 7:14 am

[Guest post by Aaron Worthing; if you have tips, please send them here.  Or by Twitter @AaronWorthing.]

Many liberals to this day maintain that it is a myth that anti-war types spat on our soldiers during the Vietnam era.  So I guess this is mythological, too, eh?

The Coast Guard in Boston confirmed that a woman in uniform was harassed and spat upon by Occupy Boston protesters.

The woman was walking to the train and said protesters spit on her twice, called her foul names and even threw a water bottle at her.

Also if that wasn’t bad enough as PR goes, the same gaggle of idiots caused the cancelation of a food drive.   That is right, the socialists are preventing the poor from eating.

You can’t make this stuff up, folks.

  1. This is just like what you teabaggers did to civil right icon John Lewis and Andre Carson, spitting on them and yelling the n-bomb at them repeatedly.

  3. Yep there is tons of video all over the internet proving that it did happen. Google has a virus today in its algorythims since I cant pull up any of the videos today – otherwise i would provide the links

  4. Thanks navyvet. Perhaps nay-saying occupiers should be challenged to put their money where their mouth is and take up a collection to match Breitbart’s reward for proof.

Anyone who happened to catch the incident on tape would be in for a nice windfall, or for an even bigger payoff to lay low.

  6. “Joe” as navyvet points out above, there is a $100,000 reward awaiting you. Chop chop

  7. I think Joe was being sarcastic. The “Google has a virus in its algorythims” can’t possibly be serious.

  9. Joe WAS being sarcastic. Come on now, kids. Sit up straight and pay attention!

  10. Typical libs. You have Code Pink demonstrating at Walter Reed for years. This is who these people are. They loathe the military and the second amendment and always have. For a while after 911 they tried to hide their contempt of the military somewhat successfully but the mask has been slipping at an accelerated pace over the last few years… And they are back to their 1960s roots. It was only a matter of time for the libs to be back to the spitting and denigration of our troops. John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi et al are the exact same people they were in the 60s but they try really hard not to show their contempt because Americans do not like to see disrespect for our troops. Even Obama disrespected our dead SEALS when the families requested NO pictures of their flag draped coffins but Obama DID IT ANYWAY! They are all scum and I loathe them more every day…

  11. The reason why you can’t make this stuff upmost because the Occupy crowd are the ones making stuff up as they go along; and, after the all-too typical librul fashion, long-term consequences be damned — they’re doing what “feels good” right now.

  13. this is the same coast guard what acted like scared clueless little girls when there was a mishap in the gulf of mexico and then they did a bogus dishonest and farcical inquiry what lent support to our job-hating president’s effort to leverage the accident into the destruction of thousands and thousands of jobs

kind of a wanker organization I think

    happyfeet (3c92a1)

  14. My brother is in the Coast guard. joined it after getting a useless 4yr college degree at the cost of thousands.
But, the difference between these sugar-daddy seeking babies and him: he realized, chose a career in the USCG, never blamed anyone but himself, took responsibilty for his econoimc situation past and present, and found a job he loves despite its low pay.
He risked his life on the open seas for 20+ years now.
My message to the “occupiers”: you spit on him – well let’s just say he is not permitted to do anything about it. Guess who is?

    john b (4c1b55)

  15. And through all these Alinsky-stoked “protests”, Van Jones, Eric Holder and Barack Obama not only give their tacit approval, but long for more violence and more Marxist upheaval.

If Barack Obama isn’t defeated in 2012, America may not recover. The “Fundamental Transformation” of the land of liberty, home of the brave and free market capitalism will be replaced by an ever-more-powerful centralized governmental machine to control and dictate all aspects of private industry and our lives.

    Mark it down.

  20. Joe was joking.

It is very amusing that there are a few nuts out there occasionally citing the John Lewis spit. But they wouldn’t shamelessly lie if they didn’t get away with it sometimes.

Even when we have proof, they deny. Such as this case, or the Gladney beating. This is because of the media, and this is why I wish the GOP would stop treating the media like it’s reasonable. When the GOP elevates MSNBC to a position of moderating our debates, that is insanity.

As a member of the USCG-Aux, I take personal umbrage at your snarky remark, and can only say:

I didn’t see your ass out there in the Gulf rescuing platform workers, or trying to contain the damage.
Plus, how many people did you rescue from roof-tops in the flooding following Katrina?
The Guard, and the Auxiliary, pulled thousands off of rooftops.

    Moron!

Another Drew - Restore the Republic/Obama Sucks! (436737)

  22. They saw the uniform, and figured that she was one of the American imperialist oppressor tools in the Navy, so it was OK; they didn’t realize she was a Coastie, there to protect boaters from themselves on the ocean.

Oh, wait, they realized that she was a Coastie, and blamed her for interdicting their pot and coke from South America! No wonder they were pissed off.

    The annoyed Dana (3e4784)

  23. happyfeet, I agree with Drew.

Frankly, I don’t know what the coast guard was supposed to do. I realize the fire fighting may had contributed to the problems, but how is the coast guard to know that? 20:20 hindsight on sophisticated designs in freak accidents is too high an expectation.

    Dustin (b2fb78)

  24. And when it comes to wanker organizations, the organizer of the longest-running Sarah Palin misogynistic wankfest in the nation surely knows his wank!

    Icy (6e3e79)

  25. I made my mom’s King Ranch for Katrina evacuees and also I bought a bunch of soft drinks and beer and chips and hot dogs and such and took it out to my friend T’s place roundabout Hallettsville, where they filmed The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. Also one of the eleven dead oilworkers was from around there too… just down the road in Yorktown.

A lot of people in Hallettsville and Yorktown both have lost jobs and houses and hope thanks in part to a bunch of incompetent and possibly corrupt Coast Guard toadies what are about as qualified to investigate oil spills as Barack Obama is to identify promising enterprises in the field of alternative energy.

  27. So, feets, it is your position that the Deepwater disaster was caused by the USCG, even though it has no oversight of drilling proceedures, design of equipment, etc?

Honestly I’m not familiar with this story, but every large organization has some bad apples. I think when we’re talking about a rank and file member being spat on for wearing the uniform of the military, I don’t really identify with a response about some other member of the same organization.

    Dustin (b2fb78)

  29. You’re doing a swell job of showing your ass, stinkyfeet. Keep it up, it’s a slow day and the mail hasn’t come yet.

    ropelight (6f8f2f)

  30. I’m confused. Was it the Coast Guard that imposed a moratorium on deepwater drilling?

    Icy (6e3e79)

  31. Dustin you are not using your reading skills. I specifically said that the Coast Guard wrote a douchebag report what helped Obama shut down drilling in the gulf. I never expected them to be useful during the CRISIS IN THE GULF, and the record reflects that they really weren’t.

But that didn’t stop them from poiningd fingers gleefully, giving support to the Obama Administration’s efforts to shutdown oil drilling in the Gulf.

But an outside report showed that they themselves were useless as tits on Rick Perry when it came to oil spills.

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  32. ack… *pointing* fingers I mean

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  33. So, feets, it is your position that the Deepwater disaster was caused by the USCG, even though it has no oversight of drilling proceedures, design of equipment, etc?

    No.

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  34. Dustin you are not using your reading skills. I specifically said that the Coast Guard wrote a douchebag report what helped Obama shut down drilling in the gulf.

    Yeah, OK. I stand corrected.

However, the rank and file aren’t writing those reports. And sadly, the 52% elected Obama to command the coast guard. If the President orders the Coast Guard to help him shut down offshire drilling with a douchey report, I’m not surprised that some actually obeyed that order. Your frustration there is justified, but perhaps misplaced. Our military follows lawful orders.

I’m not surprised the Coast Guard is largely ineffective with oil spills, because those are not easy to clean up.

    Dustin (b2fb78)

  35. The report, which was commissioned by the Coast Guard, found that the agency’s preparedness for environmental crises had “atrophied over the past decade” as the guard confronted its expanded security responsibilities in the post-9/11 world.

That’s from one of Happyfeet’s links.

That is not the Coast Guard’s fault. That’s the fault of Homeland Security and the Bush and Obama administrations.

If it turns out that the Army really needed some cannon that congress took away, whose fault is that?

    Dustin (b2fb78)

  36. A joint Department of the Interior/USCG report – a report that excused the deficiencies at the Interior permitting office that controls drilling in the Gulf.
I doubt if anywhere in that report is a quote from a Coastie saying that drilling must be shut down. Their input most likely was limited to describing the after-action of the event.
It is Interior who is tasked with design review of components, and oversight of operating proceedures; so back off on accusing the USCG of shutting down oil drilling – that came from the White House and Obama’s Environmental Czar Carol Browner.

Another Drew - Restore the Republic/Obama Sucks! (436737)

  37. I doubt if anywhere in that report is a quote from a Coastie saying that drilling must be shut down.

    That’s a good observation.

Regardless, members of the military do not set our policies on the grand level. They are devoted to serving. When they are misused or improperly equipped or stretched too thin (this is what the security responsibilities may amount to) that is our responsibility as Americans for our representatives setting policies the military simply executes.

  38. Comment by Dustin — 10/14/2011 @ 10:30 am

The USCG is not charged to “clean-up” blow-outs, and has no equipment to do so. The Oil Industry itself is charged to do so, and the Federal Govt (FEMA) is charged to stockpile relevant equipment, but failed to budget for, or purchase, the oil-spill containment booms that were required.
Then, they used the hook of the Jones Act, to deny permission to bring in foreign flagged vessels that could have expidited the clean-up.

feets, you replied to the question of placing blame:
    No“….Comment by happyfeet — 10/14/2011 @ 10:29 am

But then, in the next comment, Dustin quotes you:
Dustin you are not using your reading skills. I specifically said that the Coast Guard wrote a douchebag report what helped Obama shut down drilling in the gulf.

    Which is it?
Are you blaming the Coast Guard?
Or, did you just pull all of this out of your ass?

Another Drew - Restore the Republic/Obama Sucks! (436737)

  39. happyfeet’s initial comment: this is the same coast guard what acted like scared clueless little girls

    — Now, either that was an outright attempt to thread-jack OR it was a backhanded (and, NOT surprisingly, misogynist) swipe at someone who, in his mind, is representative of a dysfunctional organization.

No wonder wheeler’s cat thinks that they are buddies.

    Icy (6e3e79)

  40. all this talk about the coast card having written a report etc is pretty off-topic. these jackasses spit on a woman who wasn’t doing anything. are you kidding me? focus, people.

    Chris (140d00)

  41. settle down Mr. Drew I just wasn’t impressed with the coast guard’s performance during the oil spill, in particularly with the thrust of their report – which basically said drilling was unsafe at any speed pending oodles of regulatory molestations of the industry – which was coincidentally the exact report that the Obama Administration was wanting very very badly, if not demanding

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  42. Chris, it was a Point of Personal Privilege!

Another Drew - Restore the Republic/Obama Sucks! (436737)

  43. these jackasses spit on a woman who wasn’t doing anything. are you kidding me? focus, people.

    Comment by Chris — 10/14/2011 @ 10:45 am

Agreed. They spat on her for wearing the uniform, and nothing else. This isn’t uncommon. Most of the folks who denied it happened to Vietnam vets actually did the spitting, and are just trying to add insult to injury.

Our nation honors the troops much better than it used to, but those nasty cowards are still out there in the millions.

    Dustin (b2fb78)

  44. you’re not supposed to spit on people

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  45. The USCG is not charged to “clean-up” blow-outs, and has no equipment to do so

Frankly, I would expect them to try, and since these platforms can be pretty complex, I would expect some of their efforts to be inadequate and also for the responsibility for these platforms to fall on the people who own them.

But anyway, I’m no expert on anything related to the ocean. I just think if Feet’s criticisms are accurate (frankly I think some of them are) the problem isn’t the Coast Guard’s fault. If we want the Coast Guard to stretch its emergency responding assets for security missions, then we can’t turn around and blame them for being stretched thinner on emergency responses.

As far as I’m concerned, if you’re going to do something risky in the ocean, it’s not the Coast Guard’s job to nanny you through it anyway.

    Dustin (b2fb78)

  46. feets, why do you ignore that the lead author of the report is the DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR?
It was a classic bureaucratic CYA by an Department that had a lot to answer for – not even talking about the Contempt of Court citations that they received in the Federal District Court in New Orleans in the aftermath of the permitting shutdown.
The DoInt and USCG are not bureaucratic equals:
The Guard is a component of Homeland Security, and I feel confident accusing the author(s) of the report of whitewashing the non-feasance of FEMA in this matter (also a DHS component) too.
Only the USCG had personnel on-scene at all times following the blow-out – in case you haven’t noticed it, DoInt/FEMA/DHS don’t have vessels capable of off-shore work, and rely on the USCG for on-site eyes.

The Coast Guard did not shut down drilling in the Gulf, that was done at the highest levels of the Obama Administration in the Oval Office, West-Wing, and the HQ of both Interior and Homeland Security. The Guard is just the “cop on the beat” putting up a barricade and stringing yellow tape.

You would be better off directing your ire towards those who were truly responsible for any economic damage to your friends and/or neighbors, and that direction is not the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD.

Another Drew - Restore the Republic/Obama Sucks! (436737)

  47. that is a very good point Mr. Drew, but the CG still had flunkies what signed their name to this report

and it made me so mad

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  48. Dustin, as I previously mentioned, it was FEMA that was charged to purchase and warehouse the oil-spill containment booms that were not there initially.
All the Guard is going to do is get them there, if neccessary.
You will find that within protected waters (harbors, ports, etc) the Guard has vessels and equipment on-hand to deal with the expected spills resulting from the refueling of vessels in-port. In fact, when refueling, vessels must deploy a boom barrier as a preventive measure; and skimming vessels are readily available.

    Off-shore is another animal completely.
feets might as well blame the Guard for allowing an ice-berg to impede the course of the Titanic.

Another Drew - Restore the Republic/Obama Sucks! (436737)

  49. Who signed?
    Names!
And, if they had a title of Admiral, you’re right, they are flunkies – political flunkies.
Reports of this nature are not written by “line officers”, but by REMF’s!

Another Drew - Restore the Republic/Obama Sucks! (436737)

  50. I’d have to go back and look – the most annoying guy was a Korean-American guy what chaired (co-chaired?) the hearings… he was a complete tool – I tried to keep up with it at the time cause after DRJ left nobody on the right was really following it as far as blogs go

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  51. the Titanic thing is a separate issue

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  52. I agree with Drew. It wouldn’t surprise me much of there are some ‘REMF’ types playing politics. But they don’t represent the entire branch.

    Drew,

    “Off-shore is another animal completely.”

I can imagine. Ocean = big.

    Dustin (b2fb78)

  53. One of the problems in the Gulf, is its relative shallowness.
A storm blowing in from the Caribbean piles-up treacherous wave systems due to that shallowness, making any attempt to contain an oil-spill with booms, or disersing it with chemicals, highly problematic.
It is not quite like using Brawny to wipe up a mess in the kitchen.

  54. Libs don’t believe it because its a FOX story. Obviously no other MSM reported it

    Dennis D (e0b996)

  55. Oh, wait, they realized that she was a Coastie, and blamed her for interdicting their pot and coke from South America! No wonder they were pissed off.

More likely, they don’t like the Coast Guard for helping enforce immigration and border security.

No, actually, I think your first idea was correct. They probably have no idea which branch of service she was in. They just saw a uniform and spit.

  57. Maybe they were just trying to help her assimilate; get some stench going.

    so hf overgeneralized.. big deal.
Every service branch has cowards and tools.
That goes for cops and firefighters too.
All of them are not heroes and when you need help and the zero shows up… well…
I worked for a Korean war combat vet named Ike back in ’77 there was a fire that burned a bunch of homes like 150 or so… the firefighters ran from Ike”s place and Ike was appalled. His unit had been swarmed by “Chinks” and they held and this was just a little fire fo godsake
The firefighters came to inspect afterwards and he pulled his rifle and refused to allow them on his land. Told them the yellow stripes on their firesuits said it all. Then some poor sheriff deputy showed up and Ike had put the rifle in the bed of his truck and told him he was keeping out looters and cowards. That dude was awesome. He used to holler “bodacious job son, bodacious..” at me
That was ’77 though. Now he’d have been shot by a swat team

  58. I’m reminded of this recent story. In San Francisco, a man stole 140+ brass grave markers marking the graves of veterans.
