What Would Gore Have Done? (WWGHD)

In advance of the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, 60 Minutes and Vanity Fair commissioned a poll asking Americans how different they think the world would be if our response had been led not by George W. Bush but by Al Gore, Jr.  A 56 percent majority responded they really did not think anything would be different, breaking down as 57 percent of Republicans, 62 percent of Independents, and even 48 percent of Democrats.  Two progessive pundits surprised by these results gave their own speculation, but reached quite different conclusions. Via Hot Air, we get this powerful account of what it was like to look down on Manhattan, on 9-11, on the International Space Station:

“I zipped around the station until I found a window that would give me a view of NYC and grabbed the nearest camera,” Culbertson wrote. “The smoke seemed to have an odd bloom to it at the base of the column that was streaming south of the city. After reading one of the news articles we just received, I believe we were looking at NY around the time of, or shortly after, the collapse of the second tower. How horrible.”

Yeah, read the whole thing and remember who died that day.
