Happy Fourth!
The blog should get back to normal tomorrow, although I will likely have little to post for a good couple of weeks or more due to work. Aaron should be continuing his good work and talking about non-Weiner-related matters. Those wishing to comment on the Weiner story are directed to the mammoth thread below. Those not wishing to comment on it are directed to their barbecues and beer coolers. Have a great holiday and we’ll see you tomorrow.
I’m gonna celebrate the 4th and barbecue me some wieners.
Old Coot (24ad96) — 7/4/2011 @ 1:28 pmThe Weiner story just about ate the blog, as far as I am concerned. Then Fox News spends the whole weekend on the Casey Anthony story. I got some good books read. Thanks.
Mike K (8f3f19) — 7/4/2011 @ 2:55 pmSorry, Mike. There are reasons I am focused on it.
Patterico (f724ca) — 7/4/2011 @ 4:12 pmIs Stranahan coming back? I enjoyed his non-wienergate stuff.
I’m kinda glad that the Wiener gate era is over. It seemed like the story was destroying people reporting on it. A sort of white whale crazy vibe that made the entire thing uncomfortable to read.
Stranahan had fallings out with Preston of the NYT and Patterico. Tommy Christopher got punked and had a bit of a meltdown. Ron Brynaert seems to have gone insane.
ElSuerte (d17760) — 7/4/2011 @ 5:32 pmHey Pat didn’t I say that this story was eating people alive. Wow fascinating to see others come to that conclusion too. Have a great 4th.
mikemadden59 (3cb7fd) — 7/4/2011 @ 5:44 pmThe tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Enjoy Independence Day
Robert C. J. Parry (822109) — 7/4/2011 @ 6:50 pmWell, thank the entity of your choice or the one that doesn’t exist, if that is your flavor.
Ag80 (391f9a) — 7/4/2011 @ 7:34 pmPatrick is going to connect Weinergate to the Amarillo Sox’ ill-fated mascot.
Brother Bradley J. Fikes, C.O.R. (90c5a6) — 7/4/2011 @ 8:11 pmIs it just me, or are the mortar-based fireworks more prevalent this year? Clearly they are ignoring the “do not fire towards people or buildings” safety tip — they are going off over my neighborhood pretty thickly tonight. Last night it went until 2AM. Don’t remember anything like this ever before.
Then again, this is probably just what happens when you outlaw fireworks — only outlaws have them.
Kevin M (298030) — 7/4/2011 @ 9:09 pmHe has several websites of his own, such as Leestranahan.com and indie+something. I too found some of his work to be compelling, and thankfully I think it’s pretty well sourced.
Dustin (b7410e) — 7/4/2011 @ 9:15 pmDustin
I’ve been out with the cadets at Buckner and didnt see the exchanges until today, I now, dont trust Lee and would be very careful to confirm anything from him on any subject
I also think his motivation leading to his gaining access to this blog to me personally are now suspect

Yes, where else would you be?
daleyrocks (bf33e9) — 7/4/2011 @ 10:19 pmI wouldn’t expect Lee back here any time soon — at least until arrests have been made. If and when that happens we’ll have to see if we can reassess. I really liked him, but the events of the last few days have thrown me for a real loop.
Patterico (f724ca) — 7/4/2011 @ 11:20 pmWithout Lee and Aaron, Patterico.com is just another hohum conservative blog.
