Trump’s Out

Filed under: General — Aaron Worthing @ 9:53 am

[Guest post by Aaron Worthing; if you have tips, please send them here.  Or by Twitter @AaronWorthing.]

Just got a breaking news email from Cnn:

Donald Trump says he will not run for president in 2012.

Ah, if only he had stayed in long enough to force Obama to release the Osama bin Laden death photos…

I’ll try to update it with a link to a good article soon.

Update: Here’s a link to a CBS news story on this.

And the best snark so far?

I respect that #Trump didn’t make the decision lightly. Took the time to comb over the facts.

    And his grades.

  2. I need to see the long form ‘Will not run for President’ certificate before I believe this.

  3. MRL

i don’t need to see obama’s grades. what are they going to tell us “omg, i am shocked. Obama flunked econ 101…”

    dustin

    heh.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  4. Obama flunked econ 101…

I will eat my own head if he even took such a course.

He just took 15 seminars on ‘Poetry and the Law’ and ‘Memoir writing and the Law’ etc etc.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  5. Trump running would have been the best thing that could happen for Obama. It’s to Trump’s credit that he realizes it.

    Steven Den Beste (99cfa1)

  6. I doubt he was ever really seriously in it. He just wanted the spotlight for a while, and the news gave it to him.

i disagree. i think he was in it, wanting to be perot and then it became clear he couldn’t win it.

needless to say comedians across america are on suicide watch.

  10. needless to say comedians across america are on suicide watch.

So are Democrats. Anything that makes the GOP look sillier, the better. Thank God for Michelle Bachmann. (Sarah Palin isn’t going to run, IMHO).

    Kman (5576bf)

  11. kman

okay, i’ll bite. what is supposedly so silly about Bachmann?

i mean yes, she lacks administrative experience, but she actually has more of that than barky did in 2008.

But what makes her actually silly–and indeed sillier than Barack “57 states” Obama.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  12. Kmart is a perfect example of the clowns trying to make Trump out to be a conservative or a Republican.

    JD (489ed0)

  13. Dustin – oddly enough, I took a class called “law and literature”. It was useless, but it was the best option at the time – I needed to take two summer classes for logistical reasons; the school only offered four (two on tues/thurs, two on mon/weds); the other one at the same time as Law & Lit had a 20-person enrollment cap which was filled up before I had a chance to register (because I was low man on the priority pole).

It was not the most useless class I took in law school, but it was close.

I think it’s because she’s a conservative woman. The same would be true of a black. They’re so silly.

    Gerald A (8e99c8)

  15. Gerald, if Bachmann were a democrat, there’s no way Kman would think she is silly. Same background, but leftist POV? Yeah, such a person would be taken very seriously by the MSM.

I can imagine a liberal governor dealing with the nonsense Palin has. Kman would be lifting such a person up as a hero. I mean, just comparing Clinton’s resume to Palin’s… rich and corrupt lawyer who married a politician vs a self starter who worked her way up via ethics reforms.

Aaron’s got the best retort. Just look at Obama’s resume before he was elected to the Presidency. voted present 100 times and ‘wrote’ two memoirs.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  16. But what makes her actually silly–and indeed sillier than Barack “57 states” Obama.

She just seems to insert her foot into her mouth a lot.

I mean, slips of the tongue from tired campaigners are one thing. And I’ll even forgive her not knowing where the battle of Lexington and Concord took place.

But thinking that the Founding Fathers of this country worked tireless to end slavery? Really? The Founding Fathers?

She bought into the “FEMA re-education camps” deal conspiracy, as well as the one world currency conspiracy. She believes that CO2 isn’t a harmful gas so therefore we needn’t be worried about it.

She’s just a very odd potential candidate.

    Kman (5576bf)

  17. dustin

well that, and look who they nominated for veep in 2004.

i don’t think bachmann is the strongest horse we can run, but why is it that democrats think that every attractive republican woman is a ninny when they clearly aren’t?

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  18. Thank God…

In regards to the $64,000 question, “who is really the hardest hit by this development”, I’d say Obama for several reasons.

    1) There’ll be one less preposteroud nutter in the GOP field (to go to zero when RON PAUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ultimately drops out)

    2) This removes any GOP splitting “Perot” factor he might have been able to enjoy in 2012.

    Bob Reed (5f2db5)

  19. why is it that democrats think that every attractive republican woman is a ninny when they clearly aren’t?

That’s another reason she’s silly – because she’s attractive. If she looked like Barbara Mikulski, Janet Napolitano, Hillary etc. she might be less silly. You can just tell from looking at them how unsilly they are.

    Gerald A (8e99c8)

  20. Gerald A at 11.32 am:
You really think they don’t look silly? They do, believe me, especially when they open their mouths to speak.
Oh, and you forgot Kathleen Sibelius.

  24. JD

if trump thinks he can endorse obama and anyone will take him seriously at that point, he’s kidding himself. he can give his endorsement, but no one will care. i mean besides msnbc which will be fainting over all of this.

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  25. he can give his endorsement, but no one will care. i mean besides msnbc which will be fainting over all of this.

No, you were right the first time: no one will care.

    Kman (5576bf)

  26. bachmann is a teatard.

    /Kman sticks out his tongue

    DohBiden (15aa57)

  27. Second best snark I’ve heard on The Donald (who was registered as a Democrat until at least 2008) supposedly came from Paul Ryan:

<i>I’m looking for the long form version of Trump’s voter registration certificate.

Ba da bing, ba da boom!

    Mike Myers (0e06a9)

  28. AW – he was never a Republican to begin with, and nobody should have taken him seriously. The MFM only did so they could try to paint Team R as krazy, not that they ever really need an excuse, since they are content to simply make shlt up.

    JD (d48c3b)

  29. Thank god Newt Gingrich is out.

I mean I don’t appreciate him playing patty cake with Dede Scozzafatwa.

    DohBiden (15aa57)

  30. Yeah they have a hot air headline about it.

    DohBiden (15aa57)

  31. I think you’re mistaken on that, Biden. I think Bob Bennett said this ends Newt’s candidacy as a serious contender.

Newt’s reaction is to try to walk back his remarks and salvage some legitimacy.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  32. Doh

Dustin’s right. Bennett was making an assessment of his chances, not saying he will definitely drop out.

now… it might become the case because bluntly most of these guys only drop out when they would lose.

someone tweeted today that they wished for once candidates would admit that–but instead they always pretend they would have won but didn’t want to for some reason…

    Aaron Worthing (e7d72e)

  33. Newt is still in if he didn’t have the self-awareness not to be run in the first place he’s not gonna have the self-awareness to gtf away – he’s gonna parade his whore ass around for months and months doing his part with Mitt Romney to help make Team R look like a desperate-assed has-been skeezer party

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  34. not to be run

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  35. Well, Happyfeet, I bet being a candidate = nice speaking fees.

Hell, I’m surprised Michael Steele isn’t running yet.

I don’t expect Newt to drop out before he’s cashed in.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  36. that’s all he’s done is cash in since he lost his last office for diddling his wanton slut hoochie Callista while he was still married

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  37. I’m sure if the primary contest catches cancer Newt will abandon it.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  38. He’s a classy dude.

Marriage is. Marriage+cancer is doubly so, yes.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  41. well Mr. Milhouse if you’re gonna ponce your fat ass around pandering to a buncha retrograde Team R rednecks about how marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman it helps if you don’t ditch your cancer-stricken wife for a bone-hungry bimbo whose porn name is spelled exactly the same way as her real name

    happyfeet (a55ba0)

  50. Yes I won’t skimp on your gravy.

    DohBiden (15aa57)

  51. Yeah, that is pretty damn important.

    Dustin (c16eca)

  52. Yeah, but how long do you have to stay in a broken marriage, and put the divorce that’s already been agreed to on hold, just because your spouse came down with cancer? When is it OK to go back to normal and get divorced like normal people so you can get on with your life?

In any case, the story is BS. 1. She never had cancer, 2. she initiated the divorce, 3. the purpose of his visit was not to discuss it, and if it did come up in conversation that’s not necessarily inappropriate.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  53. So is cancer supposed to be a “now you can never leave me” card?

Marriage is. Marriage+cancer is doubly so, yes.

Since when is marriage a “now you can never leave me” card? Sure, one goes into a marriage intending and hoping for it to last forever, but everyone knows going in that it might not work out that way, and there’s an escape hatch if it doesn’t. Why should cancer seal that hatch forever?

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  54. Thank God gays never fool around on each other and take the institution of marriage seriously, otherwise they’d be in no place to criticize people like Newt.

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  55. Gays aren’t married, so aren’t in any position to commit adultery. If you want to be able to condemn them for adultery you’ll have to let them get married first.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  56. I gave him an out, since the original account came from DAve Osborne, but the second time, fool me twice, shame on me

    narciso lopez (72470d)

Yeesh. Thanks for the link, but the comments there–telling his daughter she didn’t see what she saw and didn’t hear what she heard, or that she’s lying for her father’s sake–are positively toxic.

That’s easy. Operation to remove a benign tumor is described as operation to remove a tumor and people assume a malignancy is involved.

In a similar way, but more mendaciously, because it’s involves intentionally manipulating the original wording, his ex-wife’s statement that he came to discuss the divorce settlement gets morphed into the claim he came to announce the divorce.

    kishnevi (9ee373)

  60. That’s easy. Operation to remove a benign tumor is described as operation to remove a tumor and people assume a malignancy is involved.

Oh, I understand that part all right. What I don’t understand is the idea that had she been diagnosed with cancer he ought to have immediately dropped the divorce (even if it had been his idea in the first place, which it wasn’t). That’s why I characterised it as a “now you can never leave me” card.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  61. “Gays aren’t married, so aren’t in any position to commit adultery.”

Milhouse – Thank you for that brilliant statement of the obvious. Is not gay marriage legal in eight states?

Anyway, two parts to my statement if you could read English, the fooling around part and the marriage part.

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  62. If they’re not married, who cares about fooling around? And it may be that eight states have agreed to pretend that they’re married, but that doesn’t make it so.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  63. “If they’re not married, who cares about fooling around?”

    Milhouse – ?

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  64. It’s not adultery, and it’s not rape, so what business is it of yours or mine?

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  65. What I don’t understand is the idea that had she been diagnosed with cancer he ought to have immediately dropped the divorce (even if it had been his idea in the first place, which it wasn’t)

The milk of human kindness is the explanation.
Cancer is a bad thing to deal with.
Divorce is a bad thing to deal with.
The timing for cancer is up to The One Above, but the timing for divorce is not, and insisting that one endure both at the same time, instead of leaving the divorce until later, suggests a degree of nastiness most people prefer to think they do not have. Look at the extra dose of dislike people give John Edwards because of what he did while his wife battling terminal cancer.

It is possible of course for a couple to be able to handle their divorce in a non traumatic way–but even then I suspect the non sick spouse would have enough respect for the spouse to leave the matter on the back burner.

    kishnevi (9ee373)

  66. Trump was not a serious candidate, the ‘Winning’ rally in Las Vegas, should have made that clear.

    narciso lopez (72470d)

  67. Leaving it till later is one thing; but the implication of previous comments seemed to be that once she got cancer the divorce should have been off the table forever, or else one is “abandoning a cancer-stricken spouse”.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  68. “It’s not adultery, and it’s not rape, so what business is it of yours or mine?”

Milhouse – Your brain is malfunctioning today. I made no claim that it is any business of mine or yours. Try reviewing the original comment and working on your reading comprehension.

    daleyrocks (bf33e9)

  69. Daley and Milhouse:
    Pax. Shalom.

    You’re both right.

(at the risk of sounding like the rabbi in the joke about a quarreling couple.)

    kishnevi (9ee373)

  70. the point is that everybody hates Newt Gingrich because he’s scummy and gross and scummy and gross is not what Team R needs right now

    happyfeet (3c92a1)

  71. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Newt that have nothing to do with the Leftist lies. Like his support for mandates. And his AGW commercials with Pelosi. And his bagging on Paul Ryan. And his general smarminess. And his feckless past leadership.

    JD (306f5d)

  72. like how he likes to dress up as Katy Perry and make macaroni and cheese and smear it all over Callista

    happyfeet (3c92a1)

  75. I made no claim that it is any business of mine or yours.

Then what exactly did you mean by bringing gays up in the first place?

Let’s start from the beginning. You wrote: “Thank God gays never fool around on each other and take the institution of marriage seriously, otherwise they’d be in no place to criticize people like Newt”? I took this to mean that there are gays who are criticising News for his adultery, and you think they’re in no position to do so. I don’t know which gays you’re referring to, but whoever they are I doubt they’ve committed adultery, since they’d have to be married for that. (Unless you mean those who’ve married women, but I’m not sure I’d even call that adultery as such.)

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  76. like how he likes to dress up as Katy Perry and make macaroni and cheese and smear it all over Callista

Hey, they’re married now, so what they get up to is none of anybody’s business, and it’s right and proper that they should do whatever they both want to. It’s what they did while he was still married to his second wife that’s of legitimate public concern; and what he and his second wife did while he was married to the first one.

    Milhouse (ea66e3)

  77. I like how the left accuses the right of hypocrisy when they don’t act the way the left demands they do.

And the right always plays into it.

The right is not a monolith, and trying to make excuses to them for behavior is useless.

On, the other hand, the left is a monolith of nothing, do it’s hard to accuse them of hypocrisy because, there is nothing they won’t do. And when they do, they always say they’re playing dirty just as the right.

    So it goes.

  83. One wonders after reading this thread if there are even 10 people who “qualify” for a republican POTUS candidate in the entire USA, heck, barely five to be honest.
I wonder how long the republican party will cut it’s own sack off for the good feeling they get being “hardcore”.

She had undergone surgery the day before to remove a tumor. The tumor was benign. As with many divorces, it was hard and painful for all involved, but life continued. As have many families, we have healed; we have moved on.”
